A professor of veterinary science at the University of Florida is under arrest, accused of secretly recording video down the blouses and up the skirts of his female students. On Friday, Don Samuelson was charged with “video voyeurism,” a Florida law that prohibits, among other things, secretly filming people “[f]or the amusement, entertainment, sexual arousal, gratification, or profit of oneself or another.” According to the arrest report, between April and the end of August of this year, Samuelson allegedly used a USB video camera disguised as a pen to film students’ bodies without their permission. The first two of the four purported incidents involve video peering down a woman’s V-neck shirt. The third is similar, but the fourth allegedly records Samuelson’s attempt to film between a female student’s thighs. When questioned during a search of his office, Samuelson admitted the pen belonged to him, but said that he was only filming up the skirt of a female student in order to prove that she wasn’t wearing any “undergarments.” The “pen” was found among several other USB drives, all of which contained pornography. UF spokeswoman Janine Sikes told The Independent Alligator that because the investigation is ongoing, she couldn’t comment on it specifically, but that “in a case with these kinds of serious allegations, we would pursue termination.”
