Whatever, the show is good. The cast is for the most part terrific with great chemistry. The plots are mostly by the sitcom book. But acting is what makes it worth watching.
I love it. Was always my guilty pleasure while it was on. Never missed an episode. I'm glad Reba learned, and didn't mind, early on that she was the funny one. Barbra Jean was a sure thing every time she was in a scene.
The best episodes are an early one when Barbra Jean and Reba's ex Brock get married. Reba goes to the ceremony and agrees to act as BJ's maid of honor. It was more of a touching episode than funny. Reba still hates both of them but realizes it's best to try to forgive and at least pretend for now so her kids can be happy.
When Barbra Jean gets a haircut exactly like Reba's.
Reba pretends to be a lesbian and dates an agent to help Van get a football contract. The agent was played by Wendie Mallick.
I'm pathetic aren't I? I told you it was my guilty pleasure. Barbra Jean classic moments linked.
I like it too. It had some surprisingly candid scenes at one point or another.
Today was the one with Reba going on a date with a new guy and she is putting stuff in her purse that her daughter advised her to take with her after an embarrassing sex talk in the kitchen. One of the things is a couple packs of condoms and the audience roared when they realized what she was holding before stuffing them in her purse. She added a bottle of an energy drink which also got lots of laughs.
BJ is working out with her personal trainer at the gym and she gets down on her hands and knees with the hunky PT in back of her, pushing and pulling on BJ. Looked just like they were having buttsex and the audience was screaming. At one point the PT is standing over BJ and her head is right below his crotch. She raises her head and he is practically teabagging her. Very funny.
Of course Steve Howey and Christopher Rich make for nice "daddy/son" eye candy. Howey is a tall drink of water and has a very nice body that he shows once in a while.
I never watched it regularly, but when I was stuck in hotels, I would see parts of it because of the son in law (Van?). He's not my type at all, but I found him cute and sexy nonetheless.
Another touching one was the friends funeral episode. Reba sings So Far Away. Shows she really is a good singer when she takes it down a couple of notches and just sings.
Yes, R9. And when she doesn't attempt vibrato. And when you don't have to look at that fetal-alcohol-cracker-trash face of hers while she's singing.
I love you, R5. It's a guilty pleasure for me, too. And much better than "Malibu Country."
LOL thanks R11 and I meant to say Reba realized she WASN'T the funniest one.
Hairdos like big brown football helmets
The football jock was hot.
The Leslie Jordan episode was funny, too.
But I really wanted to fuck that football jock.
The last season wasn't that light hearted anymore. Barbara Jean turned thin and for some reason became serious and self-aware. That wasn't necessary.
I hope they can turn Malibu Country around. But I suppose that would require some major re-tool and re-cast.
Nevermind. I forgot that Malibu Country already got cancelled.
You people have terrible taste.
Steve Howey can be seen full frontal naked in the second season of "Shameless" (Showtime), which I think is available on DVD. Very nice, indeed.
I never watched it when it was actually on, but now that I'm catching it in reruns I'm really loving it. Melissa Peterman is hilarious (as she is on Fox Family's BABY DADDY), and Reba is good in it too. Steve Howey is hot as fuck, whether thin like he was in the first season or bigger and bulkier like he was later on in the series. Chris Rich is a hot daddy too.
I know someone who wrote for Reba... one of the funniest most talented, energetic, positive writers I have ever met. Nothing bad to say. It makes me want to check it out sometime.
Poor Reba, She never fucked once on the show did she?
I thought the show was very funny. The redheaded daughter left for a season (I think) because of anorexia. When she came back, she just walked through the living room. Someone said to her, where have you been? and she answered, I went and got something to eat.
I would have preferred [italic] Reta [/italic] starring Reta Shaw.
R1 is correct.
My favorite ep was the one where Reba's upper lip was extracted.
This show is hilarious. I can watch them over and over. Barbara Jean and Van are the best parts. When Van is sleeveless or takes his shirt off, its a slice of heaven.
So sad to watch the ones with Park Overall and see that she's no longer funny.
Just found out last night that Steve Howey (Van) is married to Sarah Shahi and had a baby a couple of years ago.
She had the baby in 2009 but appeared to be really pregnant on last night's episode of Chicago Fire, i.e, face was fuller in addition to the obvious (belly). I flipped over to Person of Interest and she was skinny again.
I'm not sure, but I think Reba may have done the deed with the James Denton character. She was enough of a threat to his estranged wife that the wife paid Reba a visit to warn her off.
She also had a crack at getting plumber Greg Evigan to drop his tool belt, but she passed on it. (Foolish lady, Greg looked hotter than hell in the episode.)
She also went away for a weekend (I think) with the goodlooking daddy that had her packing some condoms in her bag.
Barbara Jean got seriously unfunny when she lost all that weight. It sucked and it made me want to yell at her.

I just found this out myself a couple of months ago. Lucky bitch she is to get to climb that mountain of beef every night.
Chris Rich is VERY hot.
Some of you have bottom-of-the-toilet-bowel taste in entertainment.
I'm glad I don't know people like you in the real world.
The guy who played the hot young boy ain't aging well. Just sayin'.
Oh my, r33 is appalled...appalled I tell you at the low brow taste in entertainment some of us enjoy.
I bet he/she doesn't even own a television machine or else he/she never, ever watches it except for PBS.
I'm so ashamed.
R33 Not half as glad as we are.

Not aging well? You trippin'...
All the credit for this show should go to Pat Bullard, former tv show host and comedian.
He was the show runner and head writer.
the episode I love is when Barbara Jean brings a cat over to Van to hide and Cheyenne walks in. Sje's allergic so he hides the cat under his shirt and tries to get upstairs and the cat is clawing at him. His reactions make me cry laughing. love him.
It was pretty funny but I could have done without Reba singing in what seemed like every friggin' episode.
You people have terrible taste.
And your wonderful good taste gets you exactly what, in life? Nothing, and you know it. Move on, no one's impressed.
R42 apparently never watched the show.
It was pretty funny but I could have done without Reba singing in what seemed like every friggin' episode.
Honey, that's called a Theme Song.
Not just the theme song R45. It seemed like every time I watched Reba had to sing a song. Her daughter has a kid, she sings a song, etc.
I think she sang 3 times. Once when Elizabeth was born(that was the only time it was breaking the 4th wall so to speak), 2nd when Terry died, she sang in his bar and 3rd karaoke with Barbara Jean
Well, those must be the three episodes I saw R47. :-)
Fans of this dreck probably think Two and a Half Men, Big Bang Theory, and Jay Leno are funny, too.
I liked the sitcom. It wasn't the best sitcom, but it was ok. I didn't care for the middle kid or Reba's ex.
I liked her new one, Malibu Country. Lily Tomlin was great in it and it got better as the season progressed, but was cancelled even though it wasn't doing that badly. The show they replaced it with is doing much worse.
If it hadn't been relegated to the Siberia of The WB, Reba, Steve Howey & Melissa Petersen would have all ben Emmy nominated.
Barbara Jean was hilarious, and she and Reba really did have great chemistry.
