Even beautiful and talented people don't make the A list. Alicia is a working actress.
OP Lauren Ambrose happened, that's what happened.
Cybill and Deedee Pfeiffer outcunted her.
is Lauren Ambrose happening? Ambrose pretty much just did TV.
How odd...just watched a second season rerun of the Sopranos with her in a guest role circa 2000. She was meh and bland. That's probably why she is in the where are they now files
She IS big. It's the parts that got small...
Lauren Ambrose and Alicia Witt are very different. Their only similarities are age and hair color.
Ambrose isn't really happening. And she's vastly more talented than Witt.
Every few years there's some version of That girl. Not always conventionally attractive. Sharp tongued and deeply sarcastic. Gets a lot of the laugh lines, and an occasional complicated love interest.
They get a lot of attention for a few minutes. Then their show gets c canceled and nothing much happens for them.
Like Sara Gilbert, Alicia Witt has severely limited range. She played the disaffected teen very well, making people think she had a lot of promise, but she just isn't very convincing in any other type of role.
r12 - Jane Levy, a.k.a. Emma Stone without boobs.
She has no talent whatsoever! Very hot though.
Lauren Ambrose is thousand miles more talented than Alicia Witt, they don't even belong in the same sentence.
So true, R10. And a very depressing thought, too.
What R14 said.
She was excellent on Cybill and made me a fan. But she's blown in everything since. She did several episodes of Law & Order as a fill-in detective, and she was more wooden than Elisabeth Rohm.
R20 Bitch, do NOT fuck with The Umlaut!
Hey, I've been reduced to doing a supporting role on a Canadian TV series.
Modestly talented and completely devoid of charisma.
There's a reason why some people fade out quickly.
Didn't she also have a stint on Ally McBeal?
I found her terrible on Cybill. Well the show itself was terrible. Still watched only because I found her so hot (and had nothing better to do).
WHO are you people talking about?! She does not even show up on google, lol.
Had a friend who worked on Cybil. Witt was a major Bitchy McCunterstein.
Limited talent, unlimited and inflated ego and sense of entitlement.
I read an interview of her around the time she was on Cybill. Very arrogant, huge ego. She felt she was amazing because she only has to read a script once and then remembers all the lines. She does it by tapping into who the character is and the words magically flow. *roll eyes*
I'm glad she hasn't done well. She strikes me as someone who would think much higher of herself than anyone around her would.
R39 Hey I had a friend who worked on Cybill, among several other shows in the 90s. He is from London and back here in London now , never know could be the same guy! I posted this before in a thread about working on TV sets and said my friend had also told me that Alicia Witt became a nightmare after she started seeing Peter Krause. Thought they were above the material. Cybill's show was not up with the best of it's era but compared to crap nowadays like "Whitney", its practically Seinfeld.
He said Cybill was actually always fine and along with Tom Wopat was the nicest on that set. He said Christine Baranski was always pleasant but literally as soon as the filming was done walked off set in the clothes she had on and was in a cab back to the airport to get home to New York and be back for the table read of the next episode. He said Dedee Pfieffer is totally nuts. I remember years later after he told me some of these stories reading that Dedee's boyfriend died in suspicious cirucumstances and Dedee was present. Maybe he took the last line of coke and she flipped...
I would like to see Cybill again in reruns to see if it holds up but I never see it listed. My favorite episode was Christine Baranski casually dating Tony Bennett.
Alicia had a small, but well done role in Two Weeks Notice.
Lauren Ambrose and Laura Prepon stole her career.
Why are all the redheads lumped together? They are very different.
Lookswise, she was quite well cast as Cybill's daughter.
Alicia doesn't look all that much like Cybill, but she does so in comparison with Jennifer Love Hewitt.
r42, everything you say is exactly what Cybill herself says in her autobiography: Witt and Krause thought they were above the material, Christine was out the door as soon as she delivered her lines, Cybill was nice...
If you had just said the first two, I would have thought you were verifying Cybill's claims, but given the third claim, I suspect you're just getting all this from Cybill's own book. No one in the world thinks Cybill is nice except Cybill herself.
I read that's she's in the next season of "Justified" as Dewey Crowe's cousin!
Ben Folds?!? 47 years old and 4 times divorced. Good luck with that.
