For some reason there is a lot of stuff on the internet about his being the ultimate closet case. He was buds with Rock Hudson. He didn't get along with Montgomery Clift. The rumors about John Ford, his buddy, are now out there.
Yes, I have it on good authority...
I have no idea, but I'm always happy to pass the rumors along.
Just because the evil old bastard would have hated the rumors so much.
Well, don't you want to know?
He REALLY like fried sausage; I mean, in the wrapper? Loved to suckle till it burst...and he always made it special, anytime Chaplin was around...if you catch my drift ;)
No, not really. "Fried sausage?" What the hell is that? "Wrapper" means uncut cock? Did he have a thing with Charlie Chaplin? Was Chaplin uncut? Just get to the point.
R7, I don't like to tell tales at school; but...fried=mexican, yes. He might have ;) and maybe Carol Burnett too, so I think he's bi.
We're from the same hometown! I don't know what possessed him to kill all those young men and bury them under his house, but I'm sure he couldn't have been a homosexual.
John Wayne Gay?
plus Barbra presented his Oscar.
STOP TRYING TO MAKE EVERYTHING GAY
OP, you know damn well that every single man on Earth is gay and a friend of Dorothy. Why do you come here and waste band-width on this already resolved issue?
He wanted to present his hole at the Oscars one year.
The epitome of bi.
Like many actors of his day, he used his body to get work in the film indusry.
Frau Alert at r13!!
R6- talk about VPL....lol! He definitely had great legs. Wow! I never knew John Wayne was hot! hot!
[quote] He didn't get along with Montgomery Clift.
From what I have read, very few people got along with Clift, especially male actors. He was often seen as pretentious and sort of stuck up. His good looks and superior skills as an actor probably intimidated a lot of the old school gang.
When John Wayne first came to Hollywood as Marion Morrison, like many other young male actors, he started out modeling, mostly fitness / physique shots. Rumors say that he caught the eye of a studio executive who had the idea to turn him into a western star and who bought up all of the modeling pictures including any nudes.
Thanks for that input R21.
Oh sure, he and Ronald Reagan were lovers.
He's wearing Espadrilles in that photo too! He's a big ole queer!

It was Raoul Walsh. Wayne dropped out of college after losing his football scholarship (due to injury) and went to work as a prop boy at Fox. Walsh spotted him moving furniture (think hot, sweaty, probably shirtless) and *Bang* Wayne had a starring role in Walsh's next picture, The Big Trail.
Here's a photo of Wayne in Big Trail. You ponder what Walsh saw and draw your own conclusions:
Gayer than a tree full of rainbow lorikeets on Hugh Jackman's verandah.
What does Maureen O'Hara say?
He had big man hands and a soft, feminine face when he was young. Beautiful hair and beautiful eyes.
He's a long way from TRUE GRIT in those shots.
That would be funny if he was. All of my straight, conservative religious acquaintances worship the ground he walked on.
What happened to him? He was handsome then.
[quote]He's a long way from TRUE GRIT in those shots.
And a few thousand more cigarettes.
It's hard to believe John Wayne was ever good-looking, because by the time he hit it big, his youthful beauty had faded and he looked like a big block of hung-over wood.
But his ugly, ordinary face actually worked for him as his career went on and on, because he played the kind of Alpha Male who didn't give a flying fuck about his looks. (Or his tiny wiener.)
His drag name was Marion Morrison!
Bill balls. Tiny cock. Old story in Hollywood that has been out there for years. Did not like to bottom but did it when it helped his career (in the mid to late 30's). In fairness, not that bad an actor when you put his roles in context--and his performance in "True Grit" is wonderful.
Oh for God's sake, John Wayne was NOT gay. I guess some gays would love him to be. He was the Hollywood personification of manliness and conservatism; wouldn't it be delicious and ironic if in fact he was a closet queen who loved cock! Well, he wasn't.
Some trivia: he was a member of the football team Clara Bow supposedly fucked.
R37, nice try.
You've seen "The Birdcage," right?
interesting post, r36. does anyone know if Charlton Heston engaged in gay sex for fun or career advancement? John Wayne, beautiful Burt Lancaster, Kurt Douglas, Marlon Brando and Heston gave off gay/bi vibes in tv interviews and their films imho.
That is completely ridiculous.
Of course not. What a ridiculous claim.
John Wayne, Ronald Reagan and Clint Eastwood dabbled in the homosex.
Whoever posted this thinks that there is no such thing as a straight man. It's bullshit.
His brother who lived in NYC was. He sewed and collected dolls.
He obviously wasn't gay. No intelligent person would believe that.
Sorry, that info may be incorrect. I believe it is one of his sons, who lives in NYC is gay, is amazing at sewing, and collects dolls.
R46, the same could be said for Rock Hudson. They had similar personalities. Strong, masculine, imposing. It's just that you KNOW about Rock.
"John Wayne, beautiful Burt Lancaster, Kurt Douglas, Marlon Brando and Heston gave off gay/bi vibes in tv interviews and their films imho."
Brando and Lancaster were both bisexual, I even heard a rumor that they had an affair.
Never heard a whisper about Heston, but then Heston was so dumb that he never realized "Ben Hur" had gay subtext. If he had been gay or bi, he was such a close-minded idiot that he might never figure it out.
Was it John Wayne or Clark Gable who fired a director because he knew about his gay past? Probably both. I've heard rumors about both. They may not have been totally gay, but certainly bi when the situation called for it.
Gable supposedly had George Cukor replaced with Victor Fleming as the director of Gone With the Wind because Cukor knew of Gable's casting couch climb.
Some sections of GWTW supposedly stand as having been directed by Cukor.
Didn't he have sex with those boys he picked up in his clown suit before he killed them? That makes him gay, right?
I heard he was such a flamboyant queen that the only way he could tone it down was develop that slow, deliberate way of speaking.
This is the stupidest thread I've ever seen on this website.
[R52] That was John Wayne Gacy. If your posting was a joke, it wasn't funny, if it was a serious question, it wasn't intelligent.
Only a dumb-ass would ask such a thing.
"This is the stupidest thread I've ever seen on this website."
Oh -- there have been threads that have been more stupid. Expotentially more stupid...
41,42,44, get OFF the gay gossip site, breeders.
He always got me as a bisexual type. No doubt his Kinsey scale was near the center.
Marion Morrison was a college football player when he was "discovered" by Hollywood. The whole "John Wayne" persona was fake. He ended up believing his own PR, as he got older, but the young Morrison was hardly some cowboy. He had wavy hair, and clearly knew he was good looking. ALL celebrities in those days bartered for parts with their parts. Even Clark Gable, who was the straightest of straight, let George Cukor blow him at the beginning of his career. That's the way it was. So whether they were straight, bi, or gay, they played the game.
Nope, could NOT have had homosex in his younger years. No way, no how. See pic.
Oh young Marion Morrison. His nickname was "little duke" because he never went anywhere without his beloved Airedale terrier.
His football career ended when he hurt himself bodysurfing.
He was "discovered" by silent film star Tom Mix, while hanging around the movie studios.
In 1930, director Raoul Walsh saw him moving some studio props around, and decided "little duke" was perfect to star in his film. (This was, presumably, apres blowjob). Then he went from picture to picture until he landed the job in Stagecoach.
The macho cowboy act was completely fake. He was a pharmacist's kid, upper middle class, and he was in a Freemason youth group.
