Affleck already played Superman, or rather George Reeves and he was pretty good in it.
Even Clooney is laughing.
DJ Cotrona is 5'7".
I'd still fuck him.
He's sexy and has a wry sense of humor that should enliven Batman, which has sunk into the dark and depressing. I have no interest in watching Christian Bale frown for two hours.
I mean he's a man who's a bat- let's not take this too seriously.
This is our 9-11.
You mean they cast a rich spoiled arrogant white guy to play Bruce Wayne?!?
Ben is hot for a 40+ guy.
Who did he have to suck off or get fucked by in order to get cast as Batman?
Worst casting decision of all time. Truly laughable.
r21 I agree. He is aging marvellously.
r23, he was already going to get the role two years ago for the "Justice League" movie, and everyone cheered. Paul Dini and co. have come out publicly and have stated that this casting was brilliant. Case closed.
r25 Horrible casting. Poor Ben. Why would he WANT to be Batman? I can't take him serious any more.
Why would he WANT to be Batman?
Because every actor in Hollywood from 30-50 read for this role. This is THE ROLE everyone was begging for. It's a humongous franchise. Affleck will be set for life now. Batman is being rebooted with this. It will spin-off into a new Batman franchise, thus making Affleck the new Batman for over a decade.
I'd like to have seen DJ Cotrona get the part.
He's a good looking man, but a shitty actor.
"You read for a part, you feel good about it, you feel confident, then they cast Ben Affleck." Richard Dreyfuss. So True, blood. So True.
Affleck will be set for life now.
Because he isn't a mulit-millionaire already.
Well at least with the bat-scullcap on he won't have to wear his rug.
He was about to become a serious Hollywood figure. Not he's just farcical.
Ben Affleck as Batman, what a joke. Maybe - just maybe - he could play a guy pony in the live remake of My Little Pony.
The pushback for this is hilarious. That schmuck who writes for Deadline just wrote an editorial in support of Ben, and his reasoning came down to "it's a good business decision, so it's good casting."
In other news, WB has made a sudden casting change. The role of Superman will now be played by Nicolas Cage.
Can't wait for this shitfest. When is it due out?
"He's sexy and has a wry sense of humor that should enliven Batman, which has sunk into the dark and depressing. "
That's what I'm afraid of, that's what ruined the 80s/90s "Batman" films. Once they tried to lighten Batman up and give him a sense of humor, the films degenerated into Goth Camp and became awful. It turns out that Batman works best when taken seriously.
I've never seen Affleck do anything of the kind as an actor. All I've ever seen from him is a shallow frat-boy-ish charm, which is the worst possible way to approach the role.
Why is there a new Batman movie every 6 months? Seriously, does anyone get excited over this horseshit?
His dick sucking skills got him the part.
What kind of people are doing the Ben-bashing? Is it the geeks and comic nerds?
If that's who is doing the "pushback", then casting him may not be such a great business decision. It's the obsessive fans who see these films the most times, and who buy the most DVDs and paraphanalia. Geek audiences can make the difference between a big opening weekend, and a film that makes money over the long term.
Cavill killed Superman, now Affleck with bump Batman off.
How many super heroes to kill off?
Matt just played a teenager. I imagine he could pull off Robin.
He's very cute and HAIRY. He's reported to be a good fuck, too. The story goes he was doing dope with some paid whore overseas somewhere. She was sucking his limp prick for a LONG ASS TIME, her lips turning purple and her jaw getting tired.
But when she stuck her index finger up his ass in desperation, Ben jumped up, put her on all fours and hammered her cunt.
All that from the obligatory finger up the bung hole! Straight guys LOVE to have their assholes picked, didn't ya know?
It's a really DUMB career move. Just when he was gaining capital as a director he signs on to play Batman? He's a laughingstock again.
I don't get the big deal...I think it's pretty good casting.
This is about $$$ for him and according to the HR, potentially directing JL.
No one does these movies for the "art." Huge payday, period.
Everything Robert Downey did for Iron Man...Ben Affleck will not do for Batman. He has limited range, no star power and can't play tough. Also, he has a HIGH voice.
The good business angle is interesting. Really, that's what they're arguing (according to R35)? Affleck spent ten+ years bombing studio projects they set up to make him a big timer. He went into directing because he was so bad as a $$$tar. His directorial efforts made modest bank and had good reviews. The last one was given an Oscar.
But when has he ever been a Tom Cruise-type that can command a big film at the box office? The best he ever did was in 1998....in a movie starring Bruce Willis.
People respect him much more as an actor now then when he did duds like DAREDEVIL and GIGLI and was a fucking stick of wood. He finally figured out how to really act when he did HOLLYWOODLAND--he's like a different performer altogether now.
I feel like I wish he'd fuck me up the ass.
I haven't gone to the movies since February 2011. I'm not into the comic strip adaptations like the umpteenth installment of [italic]Batman[/italic].
This is my way of saying I give enough of a shit to state here that I don't give a shit about the report.
"Oh my God. I'm back. I'm home. All the time, it was... We finally really did it ... You Maniacs! You blew it up! Ah, damn you! God damn you all to hell!"
We are switching to the new platform for The DataLounge this weekend. All of our mobile users have been using it for over a week and all first time users have been using it for about a month - which adds up to well over one million users. So we're ready to end this phase of the testing and move everybody to the new site. (more)
And yes, we've changed the look and some of how it operates.
Yes, we know you just *hate* it in well in advance.
Yes, we know we suck.
Yes, we are the biggest suckers that ever sucked.
But it was time for a change and with the huge shift to mobile it was long overdue. We've taken this opportunity not only to update the look but also make major changes under the hood (or "bonnet" if you're either British or pretentious or both). And we have to prepare for 2016 - a presidential election year where we can normally expect to see a 60% jump in traffic (yes, we've seen 5 presidential elections so far…Christ we're old).
The site has a bunch - nay, plethora - of new features which will make the site more usable: better search, the ability to ignore posters and threads, see link previews, to pick up a thread where you left off, spam and malware filtering and more.
If you want you can go explore and see for yourself, Click here.
And while running the tests we've noticed two interesting reactions to the new system - people are spending more time on the site and more people that come stay around longer and look at more stuff. Both good things. Yay!
Possibly we've not slain all the dragons and there will be issues that come up during the switchover. There's a help button in the lower right hand corner of the page which you can use to send us bug reports.
Please include as much information about the hardware (PC, Mac, Tablet, Phone etc), operating system (Windows, Mac OS, Android, iOS etc) and browser (Chrome, Safari, Opera, Internet Explorer etc) that you are using as possible to help us replicate and fix the problem.
Please note that complaints about colors, fonts, icons and the like are not "bugs" - they are design choices that we've made and we expect one or two cases of world-class bitching. But they won't actually cause headaches, scurvy, heart attacks, Restless Leg Syndrome, Morgellon's Disease or the vapors (but have your smelling salts at hand just in case).
Talking to DataLounge servers. Please wait a moment...
