It's funny when the elderly DLers get all worked up about tattoos.
Who the fuck cares what someone else puts on their body? Mind your own fucking business.
When they're in their seventies their tattoos will sag hideously and no one will want to sleep with them!
As opposed to me, someone who is in his seventies and whose hideously sagging skin is uninked and thus everyone wants to sleep with me.
[quote]Why the tattoo boom is bound to end:
We have been hearing this for like 20 years. It has become as meaningless as "Jesus is Coming!"
Get over yourselves, you old, stick up the ass douche-bags. The fact that you get so worked up over strangers doing something that has no impact on your life only underscores how pathetic and pointless your lives really are.

Anyone want to point out to R4 the irony of her manic post before she has a coronary?
Thank you R5, you proved my point for me.
It just has gotten so hard to find good porn without tattoos in it.
R5, it seems R4 will not get it, even if it is explained slowly using simple words.
I would not hire anyone with a visible tattoo that could hurt my business in any conceivable way -- with co-workers, with clients, with customers, with vendors, anyone.
I would not want anyone in my immediate family to be tattooed. If they did, and if they wished to inherit anything from me, they would take steps to have it removed.
Not a threat, just a paternal promise.
Kat Von D is looking pretty rough these days.
meh- just like anything else, some people get stylish, cool tattoos and look great; others get crap and look trashy. to me, it's just one more tool to determine if you should be my friend/lover/employee.
I love my sister to death but I hate her tattoos. The work on her is beautiful but I still think that tattoos are for trashy people. Pure trash.
I just want those around me to be attractive--and tattoos fuck it up.
It's really not that serious, r4. You must be pretty insecure about your tats if the idea that a bunch of strangers on DL find them distasteful makes you virtually apoplectic.
Some people call tattoos "art." But I think tattoos are trash and deface and ruin a beautiful body and nice, clean skin. Besides, if tattoos are art, would you want the same piece of art hanging in your living room forever? I wouldn't. Stop defacing your body with hideous ink.
r4 doesn't sound "virtually apoplectic" to me at all, r14. You're projecting.
No, I'm not projecting. He sounded a little hysterical. But tell yourself whatever you want.
If tattoos were truly considered beautiful and "art", then Michaelangelo's David would have sported a barb wire armband tattoo.
Truly, I don't understand why people care what other people put onto their bodies.
R14 I dont have tats, and while I may have expressed it differently, I tend to agree with R4. And seeing how R4 didnt say they have tats, I tend agree R16: you're projecting.
That being said, this article is a joke. The author it trying to make two points, and fails at both. One is people as they get older realize the tattoos they got when they were younger no longer look so good. How this translates to a decline of younger people getting a tattoo is never explained. The second point is as tattoos become more popular with different segments of the population, less people will get them. WTF? It sounds like that famous line Yogi Berra said about a popular restaurant: "Nobody goes there anymore. It's too crowded."
Both my parents have tattoos (upper arm and ankle) and if I ever had any inclination to get one, they nipped it in the bud. I can absolutely see a generation in the future turning away from tattoos as they'll be associated with older generations and thus not hip.
