In light of Mayor Bob Filner's recent sex scandal, Republicans are back to proclaiming that Democrats are the king of sexual harassment. Anyone remember any Republican sex scandals in recent years?
[quote]Anyone remember any Republican sex scandals in recent years?
What you don't remember David "diapers" Vitter or Mark "hiking the appalachian trail" Sanford or Larry "I was just stretching my leg" Craig?
Remember presidential candidate Herman Cain? Multiple accusations of sexual harassment leading to the suspension of his campaign.
Republican Senator Bob Packwood of Oregon had ten women report examples sexual harassment or misconduct against him in the pages of the Washington Post in 1993.
Former Republican Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich cheated on his second wife with a woman more than 20 years his younger (who would later become his third wife). And then there's the matter of his first wife, with whom Gingrich initiated a divorce while she was recovering from cancer surgery.
Illinois Republican Henry Hyde moralized during the impeachment proceedings against Bill Clinton. Clinton, Hyde insisted, had disgraced the presidency by committing adultery and lying about it under oath. But it turned out that Hyde had his own history of adultery. In the 1960s, Hyde was married with four sons when he had an affair with a woman named Cherie Snodgrass, who had three children with Fred Snodgrass, her husband at the time. In a 1998 interview with Salon.com, Fred Snodgrass denounced Hyde as a “hypocrite who broke up my family.” Hyde described his affair with Cherie as a “youthful indiscretion,” although he was 41 when the affair started.
Nevada Senator John Ensign called for Bill Clinton’s resignation in 1998, saying that an adulterer was unfit to be president. But as much as Ensign liked to talk about the sanctity of marriage, he didn’t practice what he preached; Ensign ended up resigning from the Senate in 2011 because of the scandal surrounding his adulterous affair with Cynthia Hampton, the wife of Douglas Hampton, an administrative aid in Ensign’s office and a close personal friend.
California State Assemblyman Michael D. Duvall opposed gay marriage, and he insisted that heterosexual marriage had to be protected because it was the backbone of America. But in 2009, Duvall not only admitted to cheating on his wife, he bragged about it. During a lull in an appropriations committee meeting, Duvall told fellow California State Assembly member Jeff Miller that he had been cheating on his wife with two different women (one of them a lobbyist). Duvall didn’t realize that a microphone was picking up the conversation, and his comments, some of which were quite graphic, became a matter of public record. For someone who loved to paint himself as a staunch moralist, Duvall certainly took a great deal of pride in committing adultery. Duvall resigned from the California State Assembly the day after the story broke.
What's his name? That asshole gay Republican from FL... Foley?
Florida House of Representatives member Bob Allen had a history of being anti-gay but ended up in a gay sex scandal. Allen supported a lot of anti-gay legislation during the seven years he spent in the Florida House of Representatives. In July 2007, Allen was arrested after offering to pay an undercover police officer $20 if he could perform oral sex on him in the public restroom where they met. Found guilty of solicitation for prostitution, Allen didn’t serve any jail time, but was sentenced to six months probation and fined $250. Allen resigned from the Florida House of Representatives shortly after that
Republecan Congressman Bob Livingston was one of numerous Republicans who were attacking Bill Clinton in 1998. Porn tycoon Larry Flynt was anxious to expose their hypocrisy and offered $1 million to anyone who could prove that a Republican member of Congress was committing adultery. Flynt obtained concrete proof that Rep. Bob Livingston of Louisiana had cheated on his wife numerous times. Livingston was among the many Republicans who had demanded Clinton’s resignation over the Lewinsky scandal, and Flynt was happy to show the public that the Louisiana congressman was very much an adulterer himself. Livingston, who probably would have replaced Gingrich as speaker of House of Representatives had it not been for that sex scandal, resigned from the House.
Pete Domenici, Republican Senator from New Mexico, acknowledged having a son outside marriage 3 decades ago with Michelle Laxalt, Republican staffer, lobbyist and activist.
Thad Viers (R) the three term South Carolina state representative withdrew as a candidate for the US Congress in January 2012 after he had been arrested on charges of harassing a 28 year old woman described as an ex-girlfriend. He was released on a $5000 bond and subsequently withdrew from the race citing "personal reasons".
Chris Lee, Representative (R-NY) Resigned hours after a news report that the married Congressman had sent a shirtless picture of himself flexing his muscles to a woman via Craigslist, along with flirtatious emails. He did not use a pseudonym or a false email address, but relied on his congressional email for all communication. (2011)
Tom Ganley (R-OH) and candidate for the US House of Representatives in 2010 was indicted on seven counts of sexual imposition with a woman he met at a Tea Party Rally. Charges were dropped when the woman refused to continue action. The married father of three has one other sex charge pending.
In 2008, Vito Fossella, Representative (R-NY) was arrested for drunken driving. Under questioning, the married Congressman and father of three admitted to an affair with Laura Fay that produced a daughter.
We can't forget the fucked up piece of shit known as Strom Thurmond. Oh wait, black people don't count to them.
JDuring sealed divorce proceedings in 2004, Senate candidate Jack Ryan's (R-IL) wife Jeri Ryan accused him of forcing her to go to public sex clubs and described one as "a bizarre club with cages, whips and other apparatus hanging from the ceiling.
Don Sherwood, Representative (R-PA) failed to win re-election following revelations of a five-year extramarital affair with Cynthia Ore, who accused him of physically abusing her.
Ed Schrock (R-VA) announced he would abort his 2004 attempt for a third term in Congress after allegedly being caught on tape soliciting sex from a male prostitute after having aggressively opposed various gay-rights issues in Congress, such as same-sex marriage and gays in the military.
James Daniel Howard worked in the REAGAN WHITE HOUSE in the 1980s. [At one point he was a deputy press secretary to Ronald Reagan].
He also worked in the Bush I administration, as an undersecretary of the Navy; and later as acting Secretary of the Navy.
He was arrested earlier this year for possession of child pornography.
THE MEDIA DOES *NOT* WANT YOU TO KNOW THIS!!
Bob Barr Representative (R-GA) had an affair while married. Barr had been the first lawmaker in either chamber to call for Clinton's resignation due to the Lewinsky affair. Barr lost a primary challenge less than three years after the impeachment proceedings.
Rep. Governor of Californa Arnold Schwarzenegger had an affair with his housekeeper which produced a bastard son, Joseph Baena

Jerry Sandusky and Joe Paterno, registered Republicans
By Steve Kornacki
Jerry Sandusky, the longtime Penn State defensive coordinator who is facing a 40-count indictment on felony sex abuse charges, is a registered Republican, according to records from the Pennsylvania Department of State:
I know, I know: There’s no link between partisan identification and the propensity to commit child sex abuse. There are Democrats who have done terrible things to children too. But given how quick some on the right can be to insinuate a connection between liberal ideology and appalling individual acts — remember Rush Limbaugh telling his listeners that the Times Square bomber was a registered Democrat? – I figured it was worth pointing out Sandusky’s status.
For what it’s worth, the Penn State football program itself has been a bastion of political conservatism through the years. Joe Paterno, the long-serving head coach who announced his retirement today amid suggestions that he did too little to stop Sandusky, is an outspoken Republican who delivered a nominating speech for George H.W. Bush at the 1988 Republican convention and had headlined GOP campaign events over the years.
Here, for instance, is video of him speaking at a rally for George W. Bush back in 2004. And back in the 1980s, as he led his team to two national titles in five seasons, Paterno was talked up as a potential Republican candidate for governor of Pennsylvania.

Senator blasts CPS after Peoria police decide not to pursue charges against him
BYLINE: Ben Giles
LENGTH: 1038 words
Peoria police found no evidence* to support allegations that state Sen. Rick Murphy sexually abused two children living in his home and did not recommend any charges against the senator, according to a police report released Wednesday morning.
Later in the day, the Peoria Republican, whose four adopted daughters were taken from his home on July 17 as a part of Child Protective Service’s investigation into accusations of abuse against him, lashed out at the agency. He said it failed to follow state laws dictating how children can be removed from their families and demanded they be returned home.
The case had been based largely on the statements of Enrique Thomas Murphy, adopted by the Murphy’s when he was 10 years old. Enrique told police on June 22 that he had been molested by Murphy for the last six years, beginning when he was a 12 years old, the report stated.
Enrique, now 18, also told police he began sexually abusing one of his sisters during that time. The report stated Enrique began inappropriately touching and being touched by one of Murphy’s daughters when she was 12 years old.
Enrique’s accusations prompted police to reopen a 2011 case in which one of Murphy’s foster children accused the senator of sexual abuse.
But police found no witnesses or evidence to support either boy’s accusations.
Enrique left a voicemail for investigators on July 12 retracting his statements and refused to speak any further about either incident with the police, the report said.
Child Protective Services is still looking into issues surrounding the accusations, and all the Murphy’s adopted and foster children have been removed from their home, according to the report.
The report indicated police had difficulty speaking with potential witnesses in the case. After Murphy’s daughters were interviewed by CPS workers when removed from the senator’s home on June 22, the girls declined to speak further through their mother, Penny, with CPS workers or the police.
Murphy also declined to speak with police through his attorney, Craig Mehrens.
*Note: Although the police couldn't find evidence, does this mean that he was not guilty, or just that they couldn't prove it?
Republicans force their pervs to resign.
Don't forget Abraham Lincoln's boyfriend Joshua Speed.
If *anybody* associated with the Obama White House was arrested for possessing child pornography, every radio station, TV station and newspaper in this country would make sure that you heard about it.
There is a very clear double standard for Republicans.
A comprehensive list of Republican sex scandals 2011 and before.
The Republican Party has a nick name:

Has anyone seen Aaron Schock lately?
Lindsey Graham arrived in Egypt today. He wants an up-close inspection of a brotherhood group that he heard about.
I predict scandals for Kansas Congressman Tim Huelskamp, who hates gay people perhaps more than any other politician. He is Catholic, married, and has four adopted children. A Catholic that doesn't make their own kids is most likely allergic to vagina.

That's not a very nice thing to say about a good and honest Republican.
Chief Justice John Roberts
Of course, the family will feel better and be happier. The issue is why the family should not pay for these benefits which will accrue solely to them. The limitations of a child with DS, barring research breakthroughs, pretty much are what they are at this point. Giving a retarded 5 year old a full time job of various therapies of unproven practical value (beyond the paycheck a to the therapists and the feel-good ism to their families) seems like a dubious way to send taxpayer money in n environment where such money rapid.y dwindling a subject to almost obsessive scrutiny. Kids with AIDS, suicidal youngsters facing bulling to death, or- another class teaching Jummy how to tie a tie.you can make me the big bad meanie, but Wht benefit we, as a society, gaining from these programs other than givining their mother hope and making the. Feel better.
"Oh my God. I'm back. I'm home. All the time, it was... We finally really did it ... You Maniacs! You blew it up! Ah, damn you! God damn you all to hell!"
We are switching to the new platform for The DataLounge this weekend. All of our mobile users have been using it for over a week and all first time users have been using it for about a month - which adds up to well over one million users. So we're ready to end this phase of the testing and move everybody to the new site. (more)
And yes, we've changed the look and some of how it operates.
Yes, we know you just *hate* it in well in advance.
Yes, we know we suck.
Yes, we are the biggest suckers that ever sucked.
But it was time for a change and with the huge shift to mobile it was long overdue. We've taken this opportunity not only to update the look but also make major changes under the hood (or "bonnet" if you're either British or pretentious or both). And we have to prepare for 2016 - a presidential election year where we can normally expect to see a 60% jump in traffic (yes, we've seen 5 presidential elections so far…Christ we're old).
The site has a bunch - nay, plethora - of new features which will make the site more usable: better search, the ability to ignore posters and threads, see link previews, to pick up a thread where you left off, spam and malware filtering and more.
If you want you can go explore and see for yourself, Click here.
And while running the tests we've noticed two interesting reactions to the new system - people are spending more time on the site and more people that come stay around longer and look at more stuff. Both good things. Yay!
Possibly we've not slain all the dragons and there will be issues that come up during the switchover. There's a help button in the lower right hand corner of the page which you can use to send us bug reports.
Please include as much information about the hardware (PC, Mac, Tablet, Phone etc), operating system (Windows, Mac OS, Android, iOS etc) and browser (Chrome, Safari, Opera, Internet Explorer etc) that you are using as possible to help us replicate and fix the problem.
Please note that complaints about colors, fonts, icons and the like are not "bugs" - they are design choices that we've made and we expect one or two cases of world-class bitching. But they won't actually cause headaches, scurvy, heart attacks, Restless Leg Syndrome, Morgellon's Disease or the vapors (but have your smelling salts at hand just in case).
Talking to DataLounge servers. Please wait a moment...
