Let's organize an underground railroad for our GLBT Russian brothers and sisters.
The need for asylum is obvious. Let's recruit!
Your need for asylym,that is...
no one cares
the rescue of the drowning is in the hands of the drowning themselves
It's LGBT, dumbass.
That's nice, r4.
In this case, it would be an UNDERWATER railroad.
We need to put pressure on the Obama administration to take a stand against this. He could do a lot by putting pressure on Putin to stop this. If he doesn't speak out against this, it will be a defining failure of his presidency.
Here you go kids, petition to Obama and the White House.
R10, I created a new account so that I could sign your petition. I usually get one petition request emailed each week. Perhaps you could connect with one of those liberal petitioners.
I'll take in one who's young and hung. No one over 21... and, well, pix or it doesn't happen.
Let Michael Lucas do it.
R12 proves my point
I could get a Russian wife!
I've never understood the LGBT/GLBT debate and I'm a gay man.
I say LGBT simply because it rolls off the tongue more easily, and I don't consider that some sort of power/privilege the lesbians have that we don't. I don't get gay men that get upset over it and insist on saying it the other way. It's petty and it just sounds better the way we've always used it.
As for the topic at hand, I have been interested for a while now in doing outreach to the struggling and persecuted gay communities in countries in Eastern Europe and in Africa and the Middle East.
Does anyone know of any organization(s) engaged in this kind of outreach? Or where I would get started created such an organization if there isn't one/enough?
if it was alphabetical, it'd be BGLT
I'll have a BLT&G. Hold the mayo.
Isn't that what condoms are for, R18?
I think we should support a boycott of the Olympic Games in Russia!!... Who's with me?
r20 I'm with you, but save your voice, it'll never happen.
If HaterSlingers (DataLoungers) are diplomats, I'd hate to see our "tasteful friends" embassy (complete with baked potato bar and bread pudding cafeteria).
R16 i ,too, wonder how do you start any type of organisation
i think you first need colleagues, then ask for funding from the government or start fund collecting
For years Israel has operated an underground railroad in Russia. I'm sure some of the Jews that left were gay as well, especially the musicians and artists. Don't "reinvent the wheel."
Lobby your local gay bars to boycott Stoli vodka...
[bold]Chicago's Biggest Gay Bar Dumps Stoli [/bold]
Sidetrack today said that it would be removing Stolichnaya Vodka and other Russian products from their shelves. The decision comes in the wake of Russia's implementation of oppressive anti-gay laws last month.
"I had been following the various news reports about what was going on in Russia," said co-owner Art Johnston. "It's hard to believe that they could carry out and enforce that kind of a law, but they did." He added that there was no way he could in good conscience continue to serve Stolichnaya or any other Russian products at the nightclub. Businesses that imported and distributed Stolichnaya for Sidetrack have been huge supporters of the LGBT community, Johnston said. "They've always been quite responsive to us, so it's not a move that we take lightly."
The ownership of the Stolichnaya name was the subject of international litigation for many years. In 2012, it was returned to the Russian government. A statement Sidetrack posted on its Facebook page noted the irony: "Very soon the Russian government itself, which bans positive portrayals of LGBT people, may be the beneficiary of the goodwill earned by Stoli's distributors and bars over the years."
The Call, another gay bar in Chicago, posted this sign tonight that reads, "Proudly serving non-Russian vodkas."
