Britney Spears’ Las Vegas residency contract at Planet Hollywood is officially SIGNED, sources reveal exclusively to BreatheHeavy.com!
It’s probably no coincidence the deal got inked shortly after Britney met with her conservatorship judge yesterday, whom she reportedly told she’s ready and excited for the two year stint.
An official announcement is rumored to hit next week.
I hope she goes with it. I'm hoping Britney will be alright.
An hour and a half of lipsynching and pedestrian dance moves.
And to think she was relevant at one point.
Her fans are mostly coked out twinks and white trash whores, but the people that go to see Vegas shows are usually an older crowd to see LIVE singers like Celine Dion, Cher, Elton John, Shania Twain, etc. I can't imagine this lasting for 2 years, just to see someone lip sync.
R1,R2-two opposite philosophical poles present on DL.
All Britney needs to do is stay fit and skate off of her old performances.
The drunks will love her. Vegas is about sexy chicks. Hopefully blonde. With big tits.
Thank you, r3.
I do not hold out much hope, she does not handle frustration well. I'm sure there are many outs in the contract for the casino.
Expect a greater than usual influx of obese trashy, flip-flop-wearing, muffin-top gunty tourists!
Just look at the comments on TMZ under this story - almost all of them think she's a joke and has no talent and said they would never pay to see her.
I don't see this panning out well - just like the X-Factor gig.
I wonder when these people who give her these huge paydays are going to wake up and realize nobody cares about her anymore.
What r3 said. Britney's fan base has always been lower-class and skanky, I can't imagine they'd have the money to travel to Vegas and pay for one of her shows.
This will end in tears (or worse.)
I hope she pulls it off.
You mean her wig, R12? She's medicated now.
LOL R13 I meant. Hope she can do the two years.

So how will Britney fit in then?

I posted the same thing back when she got the "X-Factor" deal. People seem to have lost their calendar. It's not 2001 anymore.
She was a product, and that product had a shelf life. They were selling lolita, and she's lolita no more.
She has about 50 fans left, and they buy 30 copies of her albums and single a piece, even gifting them on iTunes, all so she can chart. It's really tragic. They were brainwashed by industry all those years, and it still hasn't worn off.
Britney is older than me, but I experienced the era they kept trying to sell her off on. It was truly the worst era in music. She injured the industry beyond belief. Each label had to create their own Britney, and the masses bought it up. Real talent was shown the door. I'm fine with a bit of t and a, but when that's all their is flooding the entire market, it becomes quite frightening.
The casino tried a bait and switch on me. I demanded lots of chips in my dressing room, but they put those casino tokens in there instead. I schooled them good though.
"How ya doin' tonight, Vegas! Ah'm great, 'cept mah cooter itches! I am SERIOUS!"
There are many nostalgia acts in Vegas, and the Hard Rock isn't that large a venue. High rollers get free tix, and a pre or post party, possibly with the celeb/star/singer posing for pix. Still can't see her lasting 2 years.
Her handlers just want money which she has more than enough of at this point. Girl needs to rest.
I agree with the others who say she won't last two years.

It's Planet Hollywood, not Hard Rock and their big attraction for the last few years has been a bad Pussycat Dolls-style show called Peepshow (currently starring Ice-T elephantiasis-assed wife).
I imagine they'd love to have Britney as a headliner there -- the whole place is in need of an identity.
I know she has nothing to do with it, but for saccharine pop music, she's been remarkably consistent with decent songs. That said, she has zero talent and you couldn't pay me to go see her "perform".

Britney isn't a headliner. They had to cut her ticket sales in half for her last tour, and couldn't fill venues.
What these shows and this residency is banking on is a meltdown, which will get them publicity.

She'll be in the ground after one.

Nails it. People like Lohan are going to have this probem too.
R22 "decent"? Shitney has never had decent songs. In fact, her songs have only gotten worse and more processed/computerized as the years go by.
People come to Vegas for a show-who the hell wants to see this robotic puppet bumble around stage and lip sync? The only thing she used to do well was dance but after being put on meds she doesn't even do that anymore. Her performances are just so lazy. She never could sing but if you don't sing you need to fucking dance. This should be a bust, unless all her stans are millionaires who are able to see her every week. 1 dealbreaker for me is a guy who is a fan of her. Automatic rejection. The gays who love her are a fucking embarrassment to the rest of us.
[quote]people that go to see Vegas shows are usually an older crowd to see LIVE singers like Celine Dion
Who cares about Shitney other than slutty girls and drugged out twinks?
This will be another flop, just like X-Factor.
I'm proud of Britney. I think this gives her a chance to find out why she became a performer in the first place. I'm excited that she will have one place to go every day and hone her act. She's got her vocal coach with her now and is dancing. I'M EXCITED.
I can't stand the animals who call her Shitney. She does have educated intelligent people amongst her fanbase. Not all of us like our popstars to be screaming or warbling into a microphone. Britney's voice has subtlety and character. Her voice is incredibly deep and resonant. I'm sick and tired of the constant abuse. She's like Marilyn. She'll only be gives her dues when she's dead.
It is what it is. The Britney that was signed to a record label was what people define as a true singer. She was marketed in a specific way, it turned out to be successful, she was targeted for punishment because of her combination of sensuality and guilelessness (what the cynical elitists define as stupidity) and the rest is history. I get genuinely upset to see so much hatred inflicted on somebody fundamentally generous of spirit, who became a performer for all the right reasons.
She truly seems like she doesn't want to be a performer. Like her handlers are just shoving her out on stage and saying, "Go! Go!"
Shitney never could sing but her voice has only gotten worse over the years. Anyone who "likes" her voice doesn't know about singing. This Vegas gig might be an embarrassment for her. I can't see how she could possibly put on an entertaining show.
Britbot is a joke.
r34 - just you wait.
Wait for what, lipsynching? That's all she does "live", it's the reason Cyndi Lauper wouldn't allow her to join her True Colors tour. Listening to her heavily processed dance music is fine, it is arguably well-crafted due to her producers' talents, but taking her seriously as an "artist" is absolutely absurd.
r36, Kate Bush is taken seriously and she hasn't performed live since 1979. I love Britney primarily as a recording artist anyway. I love her interpretation of the songs.
Wow! I truly am becoming an old cunt.
I hope she does well.
R33 is right. The girl needs to be put out the pasture. She's a product not in control of her own life.
Gaga fans feeling threatened, I see...
STOP SAYING THAT! Stop underestimating her! This is why she is so loved because she is the underdog of all time.
"Oh my God. I'm back. I'm home. All the time, it was... We finally really did it ... You Maniacs! You blew it up! Ah, damn you! God damn you all to hell!"
We are switching to the new platform for The DataLounge this weekend. All of our mobile users have been using it for over a week and all first time users have been using it for about a month - which adds up to well over one million users. So we're ready to end this phase of the testing and move everybody to the new site. (more)
And yes, we've changed the look and some of how it operates.
Yes, we know you just *hate* it in well in advance.
Yes, we know we suck.
Yes, we are the biggest suckers that ever sucked.
But it was time for a change and with the huge shift to mobile it was long overdue. We've taken this opportunity not only to update the look but also make major changes under the hood (or "bonnet" if you're either British or pretentious or both). And we have to prepare for 2016 - a presidential election year where we can normally expect to see a 60% jump in traffic (yes, we've seen 5 presidential elections so far…Christ we're old).
The site has a bunch - nay, plethora - of new features which will make the site more usable: better search, the ability to ignore posters and threads, see link previews, to pick up a thread where you left off, spam and malware filtering and more.
If you want you can go explore and see for yourself, Click here.
And while running the tests we've noticed two interesting reactions to the new system - people are spending more time on the site and more people that come stay around longer and look at more stuff. Both good things. Yay!
Possibly we've not slain all the dragons and there will be issues that come up during the switchover. There's a help button in the lower right hand corner of the page which you can use to send us bug reports.
Please include as much information about the hardware (PC, Mac, Tablet, Phone etc), operating system (Windows, Mac OS, Android, iOS etc) and browser (Chrome, Safari, Opera, Internet Explorer etc) that you are using as possible to help us replicate and fix the problem.
Please note that complaints about colors, fonts, icons and the like are not "bugs" - they are design choices that we've made and we expect one or two cases of world-class bitching. But they won't actually cause headaches, scurvy, heart attacks, Restless Leg Syndrome, Morgellon's Disease or the vapors (but have your smelling salts at hand just in case).
Talking to DataLounge servers. Please wait a moment...
