I am going to go ahead and cancel this in advance.
the mere mention of her name induces narcolepsy in many Neilson households.
I hope she has a weekly co-host to help keep things moving. She's a nice lady but not very dynamic.
who the hell do they imagine will care about this?
The fraus love Meredith. Plus, Meredith comes across as a smart, knowledgeable, trustworthy and capable newswoman and television personality.
Meredith's show will succeed due to her believability and down-to-earth nature. This show will succeed more than Katie Couric's show--and while I like Katie very much--the public has sort of a 'love her or hate her' reaction to Katie. On the other hand, most people tend to like Meredith a lot.
It's not an NBC network show, it's syndicated (like "Katie" and "Live With Kelly and Michael" are not ABC network shows; they're syndicated by ABC.) There really aren't any network daytime talk shows other than "The View" and "The Talk."
WTF? Who is the freak at r6?
Is her husband still alive?
I love R1.
How is she any different than Katie? What's supposed to be the appeal here?
What will this mean for DAYS OF OUR LIVES, Starring SUZANNE ROGERS as Paul Williams?
MV is an MVP for NBC.
she will do just fine. Star Jones is jealous.
No it actually means Days Of Our Lives starring Doug Davidson as Maggie Horton Kiriakis! That is what they will be reduced to!A crossdressing star.
Seriously DOOL is still making money for NBC so it would be stupid to them to cancel it outrightly. The ratings have gone up so it looks safe for the time being. As much pull as Sony has with Y and R over at CBS I think it would be impossible for Sony to twist CBS's arm to take Days on.
wouldn't it be fab if she replaced Kl & Yoda?
Kathie Lee and Hoda are are goddamn funny. I don't get to see them ofetn, but I like them a lot--very entertaining and appealing.
Since Meredith's show will premiere in fall of 2014, she can fill the timeslot voided by Kris Jenner's fall 2013 show....which will fail.
Yeah, and when is MY talk show finally premiering?
Meredith is a great lady. She hosted that game show for over a decade.
How can anybody possibly find fault with this ratings grabber/devoted wife?
I could understand people urinating on a Star Jones talk fest, but Meredith Vieira?
she's a conservative
didn't she utter a homophobic comment while interviewing someone on the Today show?
Meredith is fiscally conservative and socially liberal. She is tolerant of gay people.
[quote]didn't she utter a homophobic comment while interviewing someone on the Today show?
I remember, in the early days of The View, they were discussing whether gays make better best friends to women than other women.
Meredith said that her best friend in the world was a gay man she'd been friendly with since college.
The said friend's grandmother was watching the show and had no idea her grandson was gay until that moment.
They all had a good laugh about it the following week.
The View was quite fun in the early days. It became so serious and at the same time stupid.
I don't understand how, in 2013, anyone watches network daytime TV anymore -- when, with very little work, you have access to an almost unimaginable amount of content, whether through DVDs/blu-ray or streaming.
So what's Meredith doing between the time Cedric The Entertainer replaces her on MILLIONAIRE this Fall, and Fall 2014?
She's fucking the Marine at R31.
Who cares? I suppose there will be Meredith Vieira Daytime Show threads aplenty from here on out through its premiere 14 months from now.
I think Meredith is far more interesting than Katie Couric. It is very hard to figure out what she wants to be when she grows up.
R28, charisma is part of the whore's bag o' tricks! Alas, scum can have charisma.
This is fantastic news. If there is anything that daytime television is lacking, it's another talk show.
[quote]This show is going to revolutionize daytime TV! It'll feature cool diet and beauty tips, cooking segments, interviews with actors promoting their latest movies and TV shows . . .
But doesn't the show that Sara Gilbert created already have this?? She was first.
THE TALK is actually a lot of fun now.
Meredith comes across as believable and down to earth. Katie comes across as a big phoney.
I can't put Katie down since she saved this nation from Sarah Palin.
Excellent point, R43. I was never really a fan until the Palin interview. Then it all changed.
[quote] on a set designed to look like Vieira's home
What are they having some blind invalid come staggering through in his soiled underwear every 5 minutes?
The upcoming new talk shows all sound HORRIBLE. Vieira, Jenner, Frankel? NO NO NO. Vieira is just boring and the other 2 are unlikable cunts.
I'm surprised she's doing this, since she's super lazy and doesn't like putting in a full day of work.
Morley "Still Alive!" Safer
It's actually a perfect schedule for someone who's lazy - you can tape a week's worth of shows in one day.
I saw a couple of minutes of it while waiting in line at the bank this morning. She was interviewing Jennifer Lopez (horrible first guest). Anyhow, that ratty furniture she brought from her own house that her dogs chewed and peed on is horrible.
Well I'm going to tune in now just to see JLo sitting on dog peed furniture.
Whoever did this seemed to try really hard to copy the hideous blandness and irrelevance of Katie Couric's daytime show, right down to the cloying lower case font of the show title.
You can bet I'll be watching everyday, except Monday thru Friday.
JLo's pants were hideous. The house band is awful. I couldn't keep it on for more than 5 minutes. How do people sit through these shows from start to finish?
I don't think she'll even get a second season, like Anderson and Katie. She should've just stayed on Today or Millionaire.
i went to a live taping...
although half of the workers there are hot and gay
got some free stuff
eh her shows won't last long
this guy works there is so cute...
Why does the show suck so hard?
She has talent and seems way more comfortable than when she was on the Today show. But the content is just dreadful.
"Oh my God. I'm back. I'm home. All the time, it was... We finally really did it ... You Maniacs! You blew it up! Ah, damn you! God damn you all to hell!"
We are switching to the new platform for The DataLounge this weekend. All of our mobile users have been using it for over a week and all first time users have been using it for about a month - which adds up to well over one million users. So we're ready to end this phase of the testing and move everybody to the new site. (more)
And yes, we've changed the look and some of how it operates.
Yes, we know you just *hate* it in well in advance.
Yes, we know we suck.
Yes, we are the biggest suckers that ever sucked.
But it was time for a change and with the huge shift to mobile it was long overdue. We've taken this opportunity not only to update the look but also make major changes under the hood (or "bonnet" if you're either British or pretentious or both). And we have to prepare for 2016 - a presidential election year where we can normally expect to see a 60% jump in traffic (yes, we've seen 5 presidential elections so far…Christ we're old).
The site has a bunch - nay, plethora - of new features which will make the site more usable: better search, the ability to ignore posters and threads, see link previews, to pick up a thread where you left off, spam and malware filtering and more.
If you want you can go explore and see for yourself, Click here.
And while running the tests we've noticed two interesting reactions to the new system - people are spending more time on the site and more people that come stay around longer and look at more stuff. Both good things. Yay!
Possibly we've not slain all the dragons and there will be issues that come up during the switchover. There's a help button in the lower right hand corner of the page which you can use to send us bug reports.
Please include as much information about the hardware (PC, Mac, Tablet, Phone etc), operating system (Windows, Mac OS, Android, iOS etc) and browser (Chrome, Safari, Opera, Internet Explorer etc) that you are using as possible to help us replicate and fix the problem.
Please note that complaints about colors, fonts, icons and the like are not "bugs" - they are design choices that we've made and we expect one or two cases of world-class bitching. But they won't actually cause headaches, scurvy, heart attacks, Restless Leg Syndrome, Morgellon's Disease or the vapors (but have your smelling salts at hand just in case).
Talking to DataLounge servers. Please wait a moment...
