Avocados&cottage cheese? Well, it sounds better than catsup on cottage cheese. What abnormal food combo do you actually enjoy?
Because I'm too much of a pussy to go see lots of people killed in a movie, I thought this topic would be more entertaining and amusing.
mangos and pork
Instead of nutritionally poor and relatively expensive, white-flour buns, my Mom served corn tortillas with our very rare treat of all-beef hot dogs. Yes, we still put mustard and pickle relish on the corn tortillas, heated in the toaster.
Cottage Cheese and Broccoli in an omelet. It sounds wretched, doesn't it? But it is tasty.
I like cottage cheese with vegetables, like tomatoes, salad greens or broccoli. Avocado and cc sounds good enough I think I'll try it.
My father always ate it with pineapple, but I never managed to develop a taste for that.
R3, I've had cottage cheese and broccoli cornbread, made with eggs. If you add enough onions and spices, it's actually quite tasty.
Cottage cheese and cantaloupe
I actually like ketchup and cottage cheese, but then I also like tuna on toast with jam or jelly on it.
[quote] tuna on toast with jam or jelly
Cottage cheese actually goes well with almost anything.
Whole Wheat Tortillas with 60% Cacao Ghiradelli Chocolate Chips inside.

Potato chips and butter
Chocolate Chip cookies and butter
Oreos and butter
grease and fire
best snack ever:
peanut butter and pickle on a Ritz cracker
Doritos and cream cheese. Try it and tell me you haven't found your favorite guilty pleasure snack.
Sweet or dill, R14? I could see it with either of them.
Cantaloupe with lots of black pepper.
'CATSUP' - WHY?! WHY THIS SPELLING?!
Peanut butter and parmesan cheese - YUM!!!
Omelet with capers, crumbled bacon, and gruyere cheese.
Cottage cheese mixed with yogurt.
Dear god your heart must hate you r12. Those snacs are a great ticket to Gandolfini-style early grave.
My weirdest combo is probably a sardine, hummus and hot sauce sandwich. My roommate gave me the biggest wtf when he saw me making one.
R18, What the difference between "catsup" and "ketchup?"
R18, Thanks again for being on DL, I always learn something new. I thought that "catsup" and "ketchup" were identical, like "soda" and "pop."
Catsup on cottage cheese! (yeah, me and RIchard Nixon!) Mustard on cottage cheese! Cottage, mayo, and onion sandwiches! Guacamole mixed with cottage cheese, poached eggs w/cottage cheese on the side, cottage cheese w/mayo, etc., etc. Yummm!
catsup on cottage cheese is a poor man's marinara and ricotta
Cottage cheese mixed with canned spaghetti/Spaghettios greatly improves the spaghetti
Oatmeal with parmesan cheese and sugar. I use half coconut sugar and stevia but regular sugar or maple syrup is also good. But sometimes I skip the sugar and (wait for it) use chocolate chips as sweetener. It helps that I use good parmesan and not that shelf stable stuff that comes in a cardboard or plastic containers. But this combo still grosses plenty of people out.
Horseradish potato chips and clam dip.
R27's complicated sweetening arrangements rather undermines the insistence on decent cheese, but that's the point of the thread.
I like dinner oatmeal with bacon and onion!
I love cottage cheese on my pizza. Yummy!
Velvetta on pancakes.
Nummers. Anyone have the wendys pretzel burger. I just had a triple.
[r18] Catsup and ketchup are trademarked to different companies. To avoid being sued (or because someone GOT sued) someone made up the word catsup.
I put cottage cheese instead of sour cream on my potato at the baked potato bar.
My mommy used to serve peanut butter and bacon sandwiches.
Egg salad + grape jelly!!
R35, Are you Swedish? That's where that combo is popular, I hear.
R34, Yogurt on a baked potato, or in many dishes, as a substitute for sour cream, is also a healthier option.
Avocado and Dark Chocolate! Crazy good.
I second peanut butter and crispy bacon sandwiches...no swedish; just a jersy WASP...also peanut butter and banana sandwich...brother used to love PB and balogna sandwiches!
Peanut butter and butter on raisin bread or even better grilled ham & cheese on raisn bread... Hmm both so good .. My partner turns his nose when I mention.... Try it you will like it
Cottage Cheese and Guacamole. Not my invention by the way. Its an old school add in but don't over do it. 2 Tbsp to 3 avocados and other spices.
It sort of works the same way marbling carries flavor in a steak. People always rave about it as long as you don't tell them what it is.
That actually sounds great r2.
r14, my mom used to crave peanut butter and pickle sandwiches when she was pregnant with me. I've been wanting to make one lately.
I put yellow mustard on potato chips when I eat them — which admittedly isn't that often. Maybe five times a year, so maybe I dont enjoy it that much.
r15, when I get Doritos, I like to dip them in Greek yogurt. (I use it instead of sour cream.)
A bowl of frittos in milk
Peanut Butter and Butter.
Margarine and Butter.
I Can't Believe It's Not Butter, Butter, and Blue Bonnet.
I luvs me my butter!!!!!
A mess of pinto beans out of a crock pot in a bowl with a big dollop of mayo on top
I like tomato and peanut butter sandwiches on toasted bread. My mother swears that cold leftover bean soup with mustard, peanut butter and onions on bread is delicious but I've never had any desire to try it.
tuna sandwich with French's yellow mustard.
Popcorn and a big glass of cold milk. Pizza the same way, and even better cold the next day.
When I was younger and my friends and I would go out clubbing we'd come home and make white bread sandwiches with tasty cheese, salt and vinegar crisps, mustard and tomato sauce. I don't remember gaining 1 pound but I don't dare eat that now, even though it was so delicious then.
Peanut butter on a hamburger; turkey, mayo and black olive sandwich; pretzels and vanilla ice cream.
r50 Rods, or sticks?
My grandma used to eat peanut butter and dill pickle sandwiches, I assumed this was a Depression-era thing.
The spelling "Catsup" now seems homespun and folksy.
Triple whopper with cheese topped with onion rings and a side of cheese dipping sauce
Grilled cheese with sharp cheddar on cinnamon raisin bread
American cheese and grape jelly sandwich (cold or grilled)
Ketchup, mustard, pickles and potato chip sandwich (we were poor but I still make them)
Apple slices with sharp cheddar. Cheese and pickle sandwich. Grilled cheese sandwich with jelly.
I love my auntie's homemade baked beans but my uncle and cousins all mix them with cottage cheese. Yuck. It looks like something my cat hocked up.
To the Doritos eater...they are GMO, careful of that stuff.
"Oh my God. I'm back. I'm home. All the time, it was... We finally really did it ... You Maniacs! You blew it up! Ah, damn you! God damn you all to hell!"
We are switching to the new platform for The DataLounge this weekend. All of our mobile users have been using it for over a week and all first time users have been using it for about a month - which adds up to well over one million users. So we're ready to end this phase of the testing and move everybody to the new site. (more)
And yes, we've changed the look and some of how it operates.
Yes, we know you just *hate* it in well in advance.
Yes, we know we suck.
Yes, we are the biggest suckers that ever sucked.
But it was time for a change and with the huge shift to mobile it was long overdue. We've taken this opportunity not only to update the look but also make major changes under the hood (or "bonnet" if you're either British or pretentious or both). And we have to prepare for 2016 - a presidential election year where we can normally expect to see a 60% jump in traffic (yes, we've seen 5 presidential elections so far…Christ we're old).
The site has a bunch - nay, plethora - of new features which will make the site more usable: better search, the ability to ignore posters and threads, see link previews, to pick up a thread where you left off, spam and malware filtering and more.
If you want you can go explore and see for yourself, Click here.
And while running the tests we've noticed two interesting reactions to the new system - people are spending more time on the site and more people that come stay around longer and look at more stuff. Both good things. Yay!
Possibly we've not slain all the dragons and there will be issues that come up during the switchover. There's a help button in the lower right hand corner of the page which you can use to send us bug reports.
Please include as much information about the hardware (PC, Mac, Tablet, Phone etc), operating system (Windows, Mac OS, Android, iOS etc) and browser (Chrome, Safari, Opera, Internet Explorer etc) that you are using as possible to help us replicate and fix the problem.
Please note that complaints about colors, fonts, icons and the like are not "bugs" - they are design choices that we've made and we expect one or two cases of world-class bitching. But they won't actually cause headaches, scurvy, heart attacks, Restless Leg Syndrome, Morgellon's Disease or the vapors (but have your smelling salts at hand just in case).
Talking to DataLounge servers. Please wait a moment...
