WHAT!! Cameron Diaz Signs On To Play Miss Hannigan in the Remake of Annie
[quote]Sandra Bullock had been in talks for the role in Annie but pulled out recently. Beasts Of The Southern Wild‘s Quvenzhane Wallis, who became the youngest actress ever to receive a Best Actress Oscar nomination, is on board to play the iconic orphan, and Best Actor Oscar winner for Ray, Jamie Foxx, as Daddy Warbucks
Would "steaming turd" be too kind a term for this remake?
Diaz must truly be desperate for work to accept a role that was so publicly offered to Sandra Bullock first.
Is this a joke?
Why the determination to have a hot white younger Miss Hannigan?
My ideal Hannigan would be Jessica Lange.
I think she could be good - she's got good comedic timing and has a "I hate kids" vibe in her personal life that could rub off.
The question is whether or not she can sing.
I just watched "There's Something About Mary" on AMC, and she does have great comedic timing.
How about Michelle Pfeiffer?
Great! She can just rehash her BAD TEACHER performance but, this time, with music!
Others are mentioning Michelle Pfeiffer. Funny that you should mention that. However, Michelle would be better off not touching this pos. She doesn't need another flop on her resume.
This film is becoming an SNL sketch.
Its a third rate musical that didn't deserve to be a movie the first time around.
Hannigan should be black.
This thread has been active for over one month and there are only 11 responses. And those 11 people will never pay $14 to see the movie. IT'S NOT TOO LATE - STOP IT NOW!!!!
She could just talk-sing her way through "Little Girls" like so many before her.
How many "Annie" remakes/revivals do we need?! I liked it as a kid, but it's far from a great musical (it has exactly one big song). "West Side Story" was filmed only once and revived twice. And "Annie"s no "West Side Story".
Who is going to play Rooster and Lily?

God help me, but at this rate I wouldn't be surprised if it were Xtina and Adam Levine. At least Miss Hannigan is white, otherwise it would've been Jay-Z and Beyonce ("Easy street! Uh...uh...uh!")
Keep in mind gentlemen, many of the origianl songs are being dropped for the edgy hip hop stylings of one Mr. Jay Z.
