MTF arrested for going topless on airplane. But legally men are allowed to go shirtless, so what's the problem?
Legally male, but identifies as female. That is the point this Trans duo wanted to make.
Nina Arsenault and Lexi Sanfino wanted to shock a flight attendant when Sanfino performed an impromptu striptease on a WestJet flight to Edmonton Thursday night.
Sanfino decided to strut topless down the aisle.
“She walked down the aisle with quite a bit of grace and flamboyance and had her arms out,” said Arsenault. “And then the flight attendants came and covered her up, saying ‘Think about the children!’ ”
Contacted via Facebook, Sanfino added: “My actions spoke louder than words.”
“Let’s face it: if you’re legally male, it’s not even illegal to remove your top,” said Arsenault. “I think that was the politics she was exposing. If you’re going to treat me like a male, then I’ll put this in your face. Which begs the question: now am I?”
So how did he get arrested if he's legally male, did they let him go? That's why a link would help.
I always get a laugh about the idiots that say "Think about the children" because kids don't give a rat's ass.
What a fucking idiot.
And this persons famewhoring had exactly what to do with interrupting the flight? Why did they want to shock a flight attendant? What did the flight attendant do to warrant a strip by a tranny?
What a fucking idiot
I agree, the stewardess was an idiot for stopping her.
Some people are hard to like! And some people make it hard to support their issues!
Gay people need to divorce themselves from the trannies.
And this persons famewhoring had exactly what to do with interrupting the flight?
They wanted to make a point. They identify as female, but why do they still have be forced to have a passport that says Male.
If you are going to treat MTF as male, then they can act like males.
Read the link, they didn't board the plane planning to do a stunt. They got pissed that the flight crew was addressing them with male pronouns, even they they were presenting themselves as female and live as transsexual women. That's where Arsenault got the idea to highlight that she isn't a man.
Have they ever seen VICTOR/VICTORIA? Julie Andrews - boy, what a gal! They don't make 'em like that anymore!
I can't see how that particular protest got the intended point across to the passengers. If the protest has to be explained to be understood, it's a failure.
Don't worry r13, I'm sure the children who saw her transsexual breasts are getting good therapy to get over their devastating trauma.
The kids were probably all rolling their eyes anyways. MTF breasts look just as fake as FTM dicks.
What do these persons have to do with being gay?
Of course they aren't gay, but they are queer, included in LGBT. As if you didn't know that.
What is your point R16?
They do not belong in any category that includes gay. As R9 said, we need to divorce them.
Guys can't go topless on airplanes so the point is MOO~
Read the link, they didn't board the plane planning to do a stunt. You read the link. They got upset because the flight attendant asked them to show her how they do their makeup. That's the kind of thing women say to each other.
Arsenault said the incident was provoked by questions from the flight attendant, which they deemed inappropriate.
“She came over and said, ‘You guys have to teach us how to do our makeup,’ ” said the 39-year-old performer. “And then they were like, ‘You know, because you used to be guys, right?’ ”
In response, Sanfino decided to strut topless down the aisle.
The RCMP officers referred to them as men, not the flight crew.
Arsenault and Sanfino said they were taken to an RCMP holding cell, where Arsenault claims an officer took her camera and deleted photos and a video of the arrest.
They claim the officers began referring to them as males after seeing their passports.
“They were addressing us by male pronouns,” said Arsenault. “I was like, “OK dude, I understand that legally it says ‘M’ on our passports, but we present as women. . . . Everyone knows I’ve had a lot of surgical procedures to feminize myself.”
I think everyone should be naked everywhere.
R21, women don't say to other women, "you used to be a man, you have to show us how to put on makeup." It was none of the stewardess' business that they used to be men. The stewardess didn't know them and had no business bringing up their transsexualism at all.
Of course you're right, R23. As you said, "women don't say to other women, 'you used to be a man, you have to show us how to put on makeup.'" That would sound totally insane from one woman to another.
The flight crew should have acted like they didn't exist. But of course that would have meant they couldn't put on their little show to get headlines.
Do you not get the difference between "You guys have to teach us how to do our makeup,” and "you used to be a man, you have to show us how to put on makeup."
It's unclear the flight attendant said they used to be men because the narrative becomes plural after that. Arsenault said, “And then they were like, ‘You know, because you used to be guys, right?’ ”
I have a feeling that if other passengers or the flight crew had been interviewed they would have a very different version of the incident.
It was bad enough when the gays wanted to be allowed to act the same as straights are allowed to. See, this is what it leads to... unnatural behaviour.
Speaking of trannies, why do they always dress like Jackie Kennedy?
I have never met one FTM who ever dressed like JK, R26.
Of course I know the difference r24, they were annoyed that a stranger was bugging them about being transsexuals. I imagine transsexuals have to put up with that kind of bullshit all the time. It reminds me of how black people say white people are always asking about and touching their hair. They were already pissed that the passports identified them as male, the stewardess' bullshit was the final straw.
OP left out the best part!
“They (the cops) said, ‘Just so you know, we might have to put you two in the male prison.’ ”
Sanfino said, “All I kept thinking is they are threatening me with one hell of a good time.”
I wonder at the prejudice of a birth certificate being issued before the new born can state their identity.
I've never seen a male shirtless on a flight, so why would a MTF be allowed to?
That's what I said R31 why would they take off their tops if they were women it makes no sense
By taking off the tops because they are men, they were basically agreeing that they were men.
R34, how is that a great point?
The only thing that will come to people's minds is, those freaks are attention whores, holding up a flight.
That is not a good way to make a point.
A good way to make a point is one that causes people to side with you.
morons for doing this on a flight.anybody would have been arrested for this. thats the last place for any political shit. these fools should spend a bit of time in jail. see how much they like it in real life.
WON'T SOMEONE PLEASE THINK ABOUT THE CHHHHHIIIIIILLLLLLLDDDDDRRRRRREEEEEENNNNNNN??????
Yes, think of the children!
Children who swear, watch porn, and play Grand Theft Auto... better not show them a pair of tits! They'll be traumatized for life!
"Everyone knows I've had lots of feminization surgeries."
Yeah, cuz you're, like, so fucking famous!
Bitch, if you've gotta announce that you had fem. surgery, then it didn't work very well.
Have either of them even had "top" surgery?
Its a Little Britain sketch come to life!
Trannies are so fucking disgusting.
"Do you support MTF going topless as it is legal for men to do so?"
I don't support any form of drama queenery on airplanes!
Flights are bad enough even if they go smoothly, if someone wants to spend the flight making a spectacle of themselves then I'd rather grab a parachute and jump.
This trans duo recently moved in together and have been collaborating on art projects, specifically focused on the relationship between trans bodies and public spaces.
Walking topless in the plane was an 'art project'
“They were trying to create a piece on the demystification of trans women’s bodies in a public space,” says a friend.
For what it's worth, Nina Arsenault IS an attention whore. A minor celebrity if you will. And an actual whore, in fact.
She's never passed up an opportunity to be on a stage or in front of a camera.
Saw those two bitches at the ferry dock to the nude beach a few years back. They looked ridiculous - like Jessica Rabbit come to life. Half their body weight must be silicone. And of course they were just preening around soaking up the attention. Meanwhile people were laughing, astonished but laughing AT, not with, them.
I'm sure they get puh-lenty of straight dick though. That was probably their main motivation.
R45 what were YOU doing going to the nude beach?
what were YOU doing going to the nude beach?
One assumes he was going there to sit in the sun, read, nap, swim, and gaze admiringly at other nude men. It's generally what one does at nude beaches.
But your outrage is very funny. You must be 12.
R47 you haven't been to the nude beaches on Hanlan's point
you haven't been to the nude beaches on Hanlan's point
Sure I have. Several times. Cruising and orgies in the bushes are optional. Not mandatory. Not everyone goes there for sex. In fact I'd say most don't.
For gay rights to continue momentum, we have got to drop the trannies. LGB should be the focus and let the trannies fight their own war. They do nothing but bring us down.
Someone like that should be legally female!
I think Nina still has her dick intact. She's more marketable to her clients that way.
She's done porn if anyone is interested. I don't have a link but it shouldn't be too hard to find.
Since when are men able to go shirtless on airplanes?
Bless you, R50. I have nothing against them, but they are not like me. Let them organize under their own umbrella.
I don't support any form of drama queenery on airplanes!
Agreed. Air travel is annoying enough. I don't need attention whores making a scene. Anyone interrupting any flight with any kind of hijinx should get a mandatory 90 days in jail.
So much backwards ignorance in this country. Why does anyone else care if a man wants to become a woman or vice versa. We are born with our bodies and we can do whatever the hell we want with it.
I don't care, R56. But I am not a man who wants to become a woman, and I have no interest in men who want to become women. They have nothing in common with me. Let them (you?) organize on www.iwillbesohappywhenimfinallyagirl.com, not datalounge.
Most MTF transsexuals are unnoticeable. They look like women. These two make a spectacle of themselves wherever they go.
r57, this is a LGBT site, you bigoted twat. No, I am not transgendered but I have several friends who are and I don't understand why you would be offended by the very fact that it's being discussed here. You are mirroring the same level of prejudice that straight people heap on gays. The fact that you can't see that is piteous.
I honestly think transgendered people are confused, and victims of society's expected gender roles. They don't realize it'd be easier (and cheaper!) to simply live their lives as femme guys or masculine gals.
And I say this as a somewhat masculine gal myself. Was always a tomboy, hated playing with dolls, hated having to wear dresses, and was always friends with more boys than girls.
But I think that if the option to be T had been available when I started puberty, I would've taken it, because I knew how much better/easier life is for guys than for girls.
Unfortunately, becoming T doesn't make you a "real" male/female, and in fact makes life so much harder, that it doesn't seem worth it.
And especially for these poor kids and teens who are taking hormones to permanently change their physiology, they have no idea what they're in for, and won't understand the true costs of T until it's too late to go back.
Again, why not just live as a femme guy or a masculine chick? There's nothing wrong with that!
"You are mirroring the same level of prejudice that straight people heap on gays."
No he's not.
R 46, see r47 and then please grow up.
R56 I beg to differ. I have at least one MTF on my flights every week. They are very easy to spot in the light of day at 30,000 feet.
I would agree that they are much more believable in an evening/more flattering light scenario.
I do my best to use the correct pronouns and treat them as I would wish to be treated, but unfortunately many straight women still point, stare and whisper in their presence. And don't even think about the reactions of the uber-het pilots barely containing their smirks.
The real shock of the whole thing is that in this day and time that ANYONE for any reason would create a scene on an aircraft. Regular passengers know that for good or for bad, the cabin crew are officially in full control of the flight and can act on any hint of a perceived disturbance.
I laughed my ass off while watching Red Eye
when that bow tie wearing, Charlie Brown looking Tucker Carlson said "flight attendants have absolute power like no other within that tube, and you are a fool to cross them or attempt to reason your way out of a bad situation. They can land a plane on request, and you WILL be detained by the FBI, and no amount of contacts in DC can extricate you from that scenario. I know, it's happened to me." Maybe it is different in Canada.
R56, you can call me all the names you want, but "twat" would be inaccurate. I am a gay man. Not a man who wants to be a woman. So I neither have, nor wish to have at any time in the future, a twat.
And I'm not "mirroring" [italic]any[/italic] "level of prejudice." I have nothing against trans people. I just don't think they belong on a gay website. Gay is the very thing they don't want to be, more than anything else in the world. Being a man who desires other men is not enough for trans.
Their very existence screams "gay is not good enough."
Let the trans hang out on their own websites. Let one start a website called www.icanhardlywaituntilimreallyagirl.com.
But you already know this. Enough said.
The tits on display weren't real tits, they were silicone tits, so who cares. Besides, str8 people cannot tell the difference between a transgendered man and a drag queen.
R65 You are a bit of a tool IMHO.
I know one of the people involved, but i still think the behaviour was inappropriate.
If ANYONE went topless on a flight, I would complain.
But then, I'm from the last generation where flying was special, and you actually dressed up to fly (I'm only 44)
R63 knows how to do his/her job. Part of good customer service is the common courtesy of addressing people as they wish to be addressed, and refraining from making hurtful commentary on their appearance. This should apply to everyone who gets onto a plane, regardless of nationality, orientation, social status, etc.
Stripping off on a crowded plane is not an appropriate reaction to poor customer service, regardless of who you are.
sounds like gross, mentally ill behaviour
if you are going to be a lady, then act like a lady. not a priscilla queen of the desert.
UPDATE They are now BANNED from Air Canada!
They put on an airbourne strip show for the ages. In return, they were stripped of their right to fly commercial.
After being arrested last week for a breast-baring fracas aboard a WestJet flight from Toronto to Edmonton, Lexi Sanfino and Nina Arsenault have been banned from boarding WestJet and Air Canada flights.
The well-known transgender artists said they were denied at the gate of a returning Air Canada flight to Toronto on Monday.
“There was a red code on our file saying we couldn’t board the plane,” said Sanfino, who was charged with causing a disturbance for stripping on the WestJet flight. “I guess we’re banned from flying. Or at least my breasts are. Maybe I’ll get them removed if they’re causing all these problems.”
While Air Canada spokesman Peter Fitzpatrick could not comment on the individual case, he said “we do have provisions in our tariffs that permit us to decline service in order to ensure the comfort, convenience and safety of all our customers.”
WestJet spokesman Robert Palmer confirmed Sanfino and Arsenault are no longer permitted to travel on WestJet flights. “These sanctions arise from their conduct on the flight in question and are imposed under the authority of our Local Domestic Tariffs.”
Palmer added, “I can’t speak for other airlines, but you will see in our tariffs that we are permitted to decline a guest based on their conduct on another carrier.”
Sanfino and Arsenault said they travelled back to Toronto by VIA Rail.
“The people from VIA rail were very familiar with what was going with us,” said Sanfino. “They were very sweet and nice.”
As for their future overseas transportation methods, Sanfino said, “I guess we’ll travel by canoe or boat. Maybe I can take up paragliding.”
I've never seen a topless man on an airplane. I imagine one would be told to put on a shirt and arrested if he resisted.
She be sayin that if they say its da dong not da boobs, they needs ta be consixtent. Make up yo mine!
But now they are being flagged just like Terrorists! All for just going topless?!
Paula Deen will be seeking an all MTF wait staff at son Bobby's wedding.
Butter & Mayo y'all!!!!
Being tagged a Terrorist for just going topless?
What about mothers who breastfeed on airplanes.
Are they next>?
"For gay rights to continue momentum, we have got to drop the trannies. LGB should be the focus and let the trannies fight their own war. They do nothing but bring us down."
"Again, why not just live as a femme guy or a masculine chick? There's nothing wrong with that!"
Yes, as a feminine gay woman who looks and acts like a woman, we are sick of you bulldykes!!1
Most straight people are cool with straight acting and looking gays and lesbians. It's the trannies and the flamers and the bulldykes who ruin everything
With the exception of the fundies, r80 is correct.
"Oh my God. I'm back. I'm home. All the time, it was... We finally really did it ... You Maniacs! You blew it up! Ah, damn you! God damn you all to hell!"
We are switching to the new platform for The DataLounge this weekend. All of our mobile users have been using it for over a week and all first time users have been using it for about a month - which adds up to well over one million users. So we're ready to end this phase of the testing and move everybody to the new site. (more)
And yes, we've changed the look and some of how it operates.
Yes, we know you just *hate* it in well in advance.
Yes, we know we suck.
Yes, we are the biggest suckers that ever sucked.
But it was time for a change and with the huge shift to mobile it was long overdue. We've taken this opportunity not only to update the look but also make major changes under the hood (or "bonnet" if you're either British or pretentious or both). And we have to prepare for 2016 - a presidential election year where we can normally expect to see a 60% jump in traffic (yes, we've seen 5 presidential elections so far…Christ we're old).
The site has a bunch - nay, plethora - of new features which will make the site more usable: better search, the ability to ignore posters and threads, see link previews, to pick up a thread where you left off, spam and malware filtering and more.
If you want you can go explore and see for yourself, Click here.
And while running the tests we've noticed two interesting reactions to the new system - people are spending more time on the site and more people that come stay around longer and look at more stuff. Both good things. Yay!
Possibly we've not slain all the dragons and there will be issues that come up during the switchover. There's a help button in the lower right hand corner of the page which you can use to send us bug reports.
Please include as much information about the hardware (PC, Mac, Tablet, Phone etc), operating system (Windows, Mac OS, Android, iOS etc) and browser (Chrome, Safari, Opera, Internet Explorer etc) that you are using as possible to help us replicate and fix the problem.
Please note that complaints about colors, fonts, icons and the like are not "bugs" - they are design choices that we've made and we expect one or two cases of world-class bitching. But they won't actually cause headaches, scurvy, heart attacks, Restless Leg Syndrome, Morgellon's Disease or the vapors (but have your smelling salts at hand just in case).
Talking to DataLounge servers. Please wait a moment...
