I thought Chloliosis Sevigny had an HBO miniseries planned? tsk. well at least one former indie it girl/gallo side piece gets to play the part. I'm sure Ricci will epically suck in it like she has in everything the last 10 years. Does she battle mental illness in her private life? cos WTF has been up with her acting? chick is weird and not in a good way now
I love her, but her performance in Prozac Nation is one of the worst most grating things I've ever seen. She was great in Monster, and got good reviews for Black Snake Moan. She should team up with Winona for a psychological thriller.
The Lizzie Borden case has never cease to fascinate me,but you know they are going to do some modern BS to this case to cater to the young idiot crowd. Maybe they'll have some rappers doing backup while Lizzie will be singing something like, I gaves her 40 waks! and I gave him 41 boom! buba boom!
This subject has been done so many times. Give it a rest!
She was terrible in Monster.

Ladies and gentlemen, the 1000 year old man.
I agree, R4 and I've enjoyed her in the past.
R5 lol....i keep giggling.
Forget the bitching, let's get on with the 40 whacks.
I hope they expose Lizzie Borden as a carpetmucher and a sadistic cunt in this film. I'm sick and tired of these criminal investigation types who think she's innocent. She wasn't. Supposedly her ghost is still around too...
I thought Lizzie was a tall, ginger dyke? Sevigny would be better.
She sucks at accents and always sounds like a Californian.
Sevigny would be interesting. She was the most fascinating to watch on Big Love.
Would have rather seen the Sevigny version.
Christina Ricci pulled a Julia Roberts and on the set of Pan Am hooked up with a crew member who was in a relationship. I wonder what his job will be on the Lizzie Borden film. I'm sure he'll get an upgrade.
Oh, and I noticed that Mr. Julia Roberts is the DP on The Normal Heart in spite having barely any experience in feature films (he started shooting commercials when he married JR).
Meh. I don't want to see either one of them as Lizzie.
With the stipulation that the role belongs to Elizabeth Montgomery now and forever, who would be better than Ricci or Sevigny?
Chastain? Amy Adams? SWINTON?
I was really looking forward to the Chloe Sevigny Lizzie movie (with Gary Busey as Andrew Borden!)
Loved that she went to the Borden house and posed on the death couch a la Andrew Borden:
Gray Busey as Mr Borden? Holy shit that would have been classic. He would have out camped fucking Bette Davis, Joan Crawford and Faye Dunaway. He's become that straight go to guy for over the top performances. Then again someone might have some dish on his down low activities that I don't know about......
Ricci looks like a kewpie doll. She did some fabulous performances late 90's/early 00's then I don't KNOW what took over for her, a mental illness/eating disorder? It's as if Rose McGowan is her acting coach or something.
R15, Mr. Julia Roberts/Danny Moder has a lot of experience as a camera operator. They met during the shoot of Mona Lisa Smile. He'll be fine on The Normal Heart.
I think Ricci tends to be miscast a lot but she seems like good casting for Lizzie Borden.
Has to be coke to keep thin. Which is no good because she has a beautiful moon face and ample bosom, which like Jennifer Connoly's rich melons, is missed. She could do well with a return to this configuration, with the current huge chubbos running around Hwood.
She has forehead for days.
she kind of looks more like Amy Adams
Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the biggest piece of shit and major loser on Planet Earth "R5"
Swing and a miss, r26. Swing and a miss.
I think the actress who plays Brienne on Game of Thrones would be an amazing Lizzie Borden.
[quote][R15], Mr. Julia Roberts/Danny Moder has a lot of experience as a camera operator. They met during the shoot of Mona Lisa Smile.
They met on the set of The Mexican. He was a first camera assistant when they met, not a DP.
He was a DP on second unit only for Mona Lisa Smile.
More people should check out the TV movie that Elizabeth Montgomery did in 1975. It was really very good.
Christina Ricci should play the maid in the Borden house - that's a good role too & better physical fit.
What happened to this?
The movie is airing on Jan. 25th
lizzie Borden took an axe
and gave her mother 40 whacks
and when the job was nicely done
she gave her father 41.
These women are fine and lovely I'm sure, but they certainly are NOT stars, now are they? And could they really equal my bravura performance as Lucy Harbin in the classic thriller STRAIT-JACKET? I would be more than happy to coach them just as I did dear Cliff Robertson when we appeared together in AUTUMN LEAVES. Bless you!
WTF. Lizzie was a stocky closeted lesbian. Christina's lollypop body/head would make no sense at all.
Lesbian icon Clea DuVall is playing Lizzie's sister
She was fun in Pecker, "stain queen".
Yeah, I though Sevigny was doing this with the Tom Hanks production company that did Big Love for HBO.
Ricci in "Monster" is truly one of the worst performances I've ever seen. Part of it was that she is just plain bad and part of it is that she is on screen with Charlize Theron knocking it out of the park.
I thought she played the role in Monster very well.
This movie is horrendous! Wrong depiction of the Borden house, wrong staircase, horrible, anachronistic, twangy-shit background music. I'm turning this crap off and putting on the Elizabeth Montgomery version. What a piece of shit this is.
Apparently Riccis height and weight are pretty accurate of Lizzie at time of the crime. She was about 5'3 and lean. She gained 30 pounds during the time frame of the trial so she looked fuller when they took pictures from the trial but she was thin before getting arrested for the crime.
Maybe the guilt made her balloon in weight.
The music! OMG, the music!
The film actually got a good review from Zap2it, saying that they were hoping for a great horrible Lifetime movie, but that this turned out to be shockingly good, especially the acting and dialogue (not overdoing it).
Being "lean" a la Ricci was something that women simply weren't back then. Not stick-figures. There are plenty of pictures of Lizzie on the day after the murders and that week, and she doesn't look any thinner than she did in the trial photos. The only women who looked correct in this were Clea Duvall and Sarah Botsford as her wicked stepmother.
great movie! and great role for Wednesday!
Lezzie was a fat fuck.
The movie was all kinds of wrong, from the look to the music. Seriously. Why do they make shit like this?
Gregg Henry looked damn good. And, as always, Billy Campbell was sexy as hell.
r49 has bad eyesight.
^^Not exactly. Gregg didn't look much older than when he was the bad guy in BODY DOUBLE, and Billy Campbell is never NOT hot.
Bill looked decrepit.
Do we mean Billy Campbell, the uber-straight guy who only dates in Europe?
I love Billy Campbell's sexy earnestness. He was at his hottest during the show "Once and Again" (1999 or so?)
A modern musical score for a period drama just ruins the entire movie. What's the purpose?
I'd have given it an 'A' if not for the gothrock score. Very jarring. It's been eons since I saw a good TV movie.
Ricci has turned into a very good actress. She can garner sympathy even when playing bad. Totally held my interest.
