[quote]Must he employ time travel in EVERYTHING he does???
Amy Jo does rock.
[quote]Amy Jo does rock.
It's a shame she never made it big. She does constantly work, though, so that's cool.
Why did Amy Jo leave Felicity in the first place?
R5, her mom was sick and eventually died from cancer. She left for that. She did come back at the end, though.
[quote]Amy Jo Johnson, an original series regular, left the show early in the third season for personal reasons relating to a death in her family. However, she later reprised the role of Julie during the show's final season.
As someone who missed the last season, what time travel stuff happened?
Felicity was the show that made me and probably a lot of other people during that time and at that age want to move to New York.
The final season was completely jacked up. Besides the fact that the entire thing was shown to be a dream it turns out it actually wasn't a dream at all but they barely managed to explain it because the scenes proving that it was real were cut from the finale.
The extras explain that Felicity learns it wasn't a dream because in a cut scene she manages to warn Elena who died in the original timeline to go to Duke instead of Columbia. So years later at Noel's wedding when the audience sees Elena at the wedding Felicity also speaks with her and learns that Felicity's actions in the new timeline caused Elena to go to Duke instead of Columbia thus preventing her death and proving the time shift actually did happen.
At that time a lot of fans took the final scene as a cast party because everyone assumed the entire season never really happened at all when it actually did happen. So stupid.
I thought I remembered reading an interview with Amy Jo Johnson where she stated that her personal issues weren't the reason she left the show. I think she alluded to the fact that she had disagreements with the Producers/Writers over the direction of her character, (I don't remember the show that well, but didn't her character become depressed or suicidal?). I think in that interview, she also hinted that they just used her personal problems as justification to write her off the show.
Anyone else read that or remember it?
R25, no, Amy Jo has said several times that it was her mother's cancer. She had uterine cancer when Amy Jo started Felicty and passed away during her run on the show. She left, and the producers told her she could come back anytime she wanted, and she returned in the final season.
JJ Abrams also put her in his What About Brian show.
My recollection of what happened is that they had a certain number of episodes written and planned, culminating in the series finale, and then ABC asked them for a few more. You can see that the plot essentially comes to an end before the time travel episodes start. I guess they figured the show was ending, why not do something outrageous.
I actually liked it because the last season was pretty dull up to that point -- the show had pretty much run out of ideas -- and it felt like going back and seeing how things might have turned out differently gave the season more of a purpose.
I thought they just got rid of Amy Jo because her character was so unlikeable.
Julie wasn't unlikeable - no more so than any of the other characters,
I couldn't believe the shit she went though finding her birth mother who denied she was her mother and was in fact still married to her birth father.
Amy Jo fucked every guy in the cast and showed Scott Speedman how much pleasure his ass could give him. Love that dirty bitch.
R18, we weren't talking about their similar body type, we were talking about their faces. Johnson and Garner had very similar looking faces. Hilary Swank could easily have played their fugly triplet.
Amy Jo was a better actress then. Keri probably is now.
I know I'm alone in this, but all anyone ever talks about with JJ Abrams is what a brilliant producer and director he is. I agree, but I'm more taken with the fact I think he's fucking hot. Anytime I see pics of him, that curly black hair just drives me wild. Bet he has a nice, hairy ass and would make a really HOT bottom. Any JJ gay stories? I'm sure he's hopelessly straight but I'd still like to know if he's ever played around with guys.
I loved the show too, but that last season was weird! I loved Amanda Foreman as the goth bitch roommate. JJ must love her, he puts her in almost everything he does. She even has a tiny part in the new Star Trek. Love Keri, too.
Amanda was recently in Parenthood as a mother of a child with Asperger's.
I always loved the intro for seasons 1 and 2. I think Amy Jo Johnson sang them, actually.
JJ has a tendency of reusing a lot of the actors he works with. More than a handful of the Felicity cast ended up on Alias, a show he says was conceived out of a story line he wanted to do for Felicity.
He does reuse a lot of Felicity actors:
Megan Foreman, Jennifer Garner and Greg Grunber are all in Alias
Amy Jo Johnson was in What About Brian
Greg Grungerb was in Lost
Keri Russel was in Mission Impossible 3
Kevin Weisman and Robert Benedict were also on Felicity and Alias.
Terry O'Quinn was on Alias and then on Lost.
Trivia... apparently Greg Grunberg and Abrhams have been friends since Kindergarten.
What happened to Sally?
I adored Amanda Foreman in Felicity, too. She was hilarious.
Am I the only who disliked the way Sean became so prominent during the last season of Felicity? I thought Sean worked better as a supporting character, not front and center. It didn't help that Sean and Megan were not a convincing couple to me.
Oh, r44 I also wonder what happened to Sally! Seriously.
Yeah, there was definitely too much Sean at the end.I actually think that once Julie left, the focus of the show got really scattered and it kind of lost touch with the original aim of the show.
Also, Noel was the most annoying unlikeable creature ever by the end of the series.
Because he`s really John Titor.
R48 - Sean was the weakest link.
Both of Noel's girlfriends grew up to be a spy.
Keri is a lot better playing a spy than Jennifer ever was.
Was there any in-fighting on the show?
R52, if there was, I doubt it involved Keri. She's just too nice. I always wondered why Amanda Foreman was basically cut out of most of season 4.
Good question R53. Amanda is ten years older than Keri. She was 32 when the show started. Maybe she had a baby then.
Is this show anything like Alias, Person of Interest, Fringe, Lost? I always thought it was a sappy, romantic college girl comedy (not to say his other shows are sappy). It's hard for me to figure out what this is about. Can someone describe? Even IMDB doesn't shed light.
I have to say Amy Jo is very sexy both then and now. She definitely has that 'x factor.'
R57 - Felicity is a sheltered California high school graduate. On a whim, she follows a boy (Ben) to New York and NYU. During he first season, she dates her RA Noel, but still has feelings for Ben. Meanwhile, her friend Julie starts dating Ben.
It gets goofy in the final season when JJ adds time travel to the story. Seriously!
The first two seasons are quite good. The third starts to stray.
Thank you r59. I'm researching this show and found the beautiful, amazing song that Amy Jo wrote for the show. Tearing up listening to it (I know, Mary!)
