Tony Awards Host Neil Patrick Harris Announced As The Host Of The 2013 Primetime Emmy Awards

Neil Patrick Harris isn’t content to host just one major awards show this year.

The How I Met Your Mother star will host the 2013 Emmy Awards, CBS announced today. This will be Harris’ second time hosting the Emmy Awards, having first hosted in 2009. Harris will next take to an award show stage when he hosts the 67th Tony Awards June 9; he previously hosted the Tonys in 2012, 2011 and 2009.

“I couldn’t be more honored and excited to be hosting this year’s Emmy Awards,” said Harris in a release. “And what perfect timing – I’ll just do the exact same script I’m about to use for the Tonys. ‘And the Emmy for Best Revival of a Musical goes to Breaking Bad!’ See, told you it works.”

“Neil is the quintessential host – engaging, entertaining and a true showman – with a passion for celebrating the medium we all love. We’re thrilled for him to return for CBS’s broadcast of the Emmy Awards,” said Nina Tassler, President of CBS Entertainment in the same release.

Harris himself is a three-time Emmy-winner, having won for his guest-starring role on Glee as well as for hosting the 2009 and 2011 Tony Awards.

The Emmy Awards will air live on CBS Sunday Sept. 22.
