Is anyone here invited for a pointless, trashy Memorial Day gathering?
A day of honoring those who served.
That doesn't stop assholes from saying, "Happy Memorial Day!" Worst of all is gathering with people, love or leave them, to eat barbecue bullshit like burgers, chicken, and hot dogs. Along with such other trashy fare as potato salad, baked beans, and cole slaw.
Aren't there better ways to honor Memorial Day?
Most people these days serve high end fare for the holiday. It was really bad in the 70s but so was everything.
Sure! Just ask Leo Frank!
No dear, I don't run with those sorts.
I was invited to a lesbian cook- out and they're all vegans. Thank God I'm out of town. I guess they're grilling tempeh.
What is trashy about barbecue? What are you having for dinner on Memorial Day? Laxatives and Pinot Grigio?
Disneyland is open 24 hours! Woooo! I'm going
I was invited to a ball game. I didn't bother to find out what kind.
Ask a random sample of Americans what Memorial Day is and I'd bet dollars to donuts that at least half don't know.
I like those foods in OP's post, but Memorial Day is pretty much the only day of the year I eat them. I probably eat more meat on MD and the following week or so than the rest of the year combined.
And to what "high end fare" is R1 referring? Genuinely curious...
Nothing trashy about Memory Day; which is what my family calls it. Tomorrow there will be a graduation party and Sunday I will walk around a lake with my sister before eating breakfast. Monday will in my garden, and maybe a visit to the local military cemetery to visit my parent's grave.
That is not trashy, it's a great weekend.
I am going to a cookout tomorrow and I am excited.
It's the traditional visit to the ancestors' graves and the little suburban parade. But I'm not sure I want to go this year. The cemetery flooded a month ago....
"What are you having for dinner on Memorial Day? Laxatives and Pinot Grigio?"
For a holiday weekend I always change up to Champagne.
