I found it really unbelievable that at the end that Katniss would choose Peeta over Gale. Throughout the three novels, Collins basically hints that Gale would be Katniss' true love. Also at the end, I get the feeling that Gale abandoned Katniss. He got a fancy job in district two and forgot all about Katniss. So, in a way, I almost feel like Katniss [italic]had[/italic] to choose Peeta because there would be no one left. I felt really sad over this that Gale left Katniss. Also, I found the Katniss character unrealistic. I mean throughout the novel, she pretty much disobeys everybody. It's the characteristic that sets her apart from every other character. But I think the author really overused this character trait to the point where it gets really boring and believable. In the first book, she doesn't follow the Hunger Game rules. That's believable. But throughout the second and third book, she disobeys District 13 leader, Boggs, and about every single person in the two books. My favorite character is Finnick Odair because of his personality and his good looks. I was really sad when I read that he died. This is the one character that I think should have replaced either Peeta or Gale in the book. He's so appealing! I didn't like the ending of the book. It's so sad. I expected it to be more uplifting considering that it is a children's book. All in all, I liked the first book a lot better than I liked the last two. Discuss.
