The X-Factor to hire Kelly Rowland and Paulina Rubio as new judges?
Fox’s The X Factor is looking to have plenty of girl power next fall. The judges panel will likely consist of executive producer Simon Cowell and three female judges.
One will be returning judge Demi Lovato, as the network previously announced. If all goes according to plan, another will be singer, dancer and Super Bowl halftime show-stopper Kelly Rowland. The Grammy-winning Destiny’s Child founding member has previously been floated as a potential judge in the press, but EW can exclusively report she’s firming up a deal to join the show. Rowland should feel quite comfortable at the judges table; she has extensive on-camera experience, from serving as a judge on the eighth season of the UK version of The X Factor to performing on Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance.
We’re not certain who will secure the third judge spot, though we’re hearing Latin singer-actress Paulina Rubio is in talks.
The deals will have to be completed soon — The X Factor starts production on season three on Tuesday. The new judges will replace season two panelists Britney Spears and L.A. Reid.
Nobody cares about these shows anymore.
I don't know why they won't get some like David Foster or Chaka Khan or Babyface to be hosts.
These kids need to be mentored by Icons, Not hasbeens.
Kelly Rowland was on Bravo's flop 'The Fashion Show' with Isaac Mizrahi, a Project Runway rip-off that only lasted 2 dismal seasons. She looked beautiful every episode, but her delivery was wood wood wood. I don't know what they were thinking, she sounded like she was reading cue cards badly.
I'm sure they're looking for bargain basement rates now.
[quote]I feel so out of it. Who are these people?
Don't worry - you have good reason for not knowing these people.
Kelly Rowland was a member of the defunct group "Destiny's Child". She's released several solo singles and albums, but they were all flops in the US and only 3 of her singles ever reached the Top 40.
Paulina Rubio is a Mexican singer who had a very modest hit back in 2002 with a song called "Don't Say Goodbye", which reached a mediocre #41 in the US. Other than that, she's virtually unknown in America.
So, as you can see, it's very strange why they would even consider these has-beens and never-weres as judges if they're trying to improve ratings.
That's a double dose of who cares

A bad thing for a reality host; a good thing for an escort.
Poor Kelly! Pretty soon the only job left for her will be that of nanny to Beyonce's children.
[quote]Other than that, she's virtually unknown in America.
She's actually VERY well-known among the large US Latino community, and has headlined several successful concert tours in this country.
Additionally, she was a coach on season two of the Mexican version of "The Voice."
I wonder if anyone has told Kelly Rowland that she looks like a old worn out prostitute.

Who cares? That's not mainstream America.
R20 Not a Republican at all. Just get so sick of how Latinos always have to jump in with their "but so and so is huge in the Latino community". Everything is always Latino this, Latino that.
Isn't Paulina Rubio the one who has (or had) a home with 1 million square feet (!!!) ?
Go sit on a spiky black dildo, white piece of trash R21.
Why are you not a Republican, R21?
Kelly Rowland is a borderline dyke and Rubio is bi at the least. I wonder if being on X-Fucker will put the spotlight on them. Rowland fucked one of the Williams sisters(not Penis but Serena) and Rubio had a very public catfight with a lesbian player in Miami over that player's ex-girlfriend.
We had Kelly Rowland for a year (or 2) on X-Factor here in England - and she brought nothing to the table, and seemed barely interested in the singers she was supposedly mentoring ... she went off to Florida in a sulk when she fell out with the other female judge, punk girl Tulisa (now also trashed from the next series, as Sharon Osborne is returning to join the terrific Nicole Scherzinger).
Kelly was all about her and her pouting and different looks every week .... Nicole on the other hand is fabulous, had a great time and got on great with her charges.
But I agree, these singing shows are on the way out ... we are getting bored with them now as the kids discover they are not in fact a route to quick fame and riches and most of them are dropped quickly and used up for sob stories.
Yeah r29 these shows are done, thank god people are finally getting fed up of them, worst thing ever to happen to music.
r28 I thought Scherzinger was the one on the way out, Tulisa seemed the It Girl.
I hate that cunt Sharon Osbourne, she's better off left in the past.
I haven't watched X Factor since the Osbourne era, but I understand it peaked around the time Cheryl Cole/Dannii Minogue were on it with their dress battle each week. It just kept getting slicker and slicker.
In the early years when Osbourne was in it, it wasn't so slick and polished and we didn't find out autotune was used - the same thing happened to American Idol, the editing got sharper.
Anyway Osbourne was a real cunt to Dannii Minogue. Dannii indeed was the joke of the music industry until she started releasing some good dance singles, but X Factor was what made her a star. I heard that Dannii was the best judge of all, critical but reasoned and fair, she also had talent show origins in Australia.
Scherzinger is kind of Z list, unable to launch her solo career outside the UK and now appearing in an advert for a luxury yogurt but she can really sing and came from a talent show, so the perfect judge.
Kelly Rowland was not great on X-factor UK. Very dated mentor, obsessed with 90's R'n'B runs and vocals.
LMAO Paulina Rubio is trending on twitter because people hate her for sending home someone on X-Factor that the public loves. I don't watch the show; but this is hysterical. End X-Factor after this season, Fox.
Paulina fucked up her picks. FOX should fire her before the live shows begin. She can barely speak English and has no appeal.
hahahaha Paulina getting so many hate tweets. Satan Cowell is an idiot for casting Rowland and Rubio.
I noticed during the auditions (and even during the 4-chair challenges) that they edited out most of Paulina's comments. It was like she wasn't even there.
Well, The X-Factor tied with The Vampire Diaries in the 18-49 demo last night, and only pulled in a total of 3.6 million viewers. No way in hell will it be back next season. And it makes me wonder what American Idol's ratings will be like when it returns in January.
3 seasons and each one gets worse ratings than the last. Haven't they heard of 3 strikes you're out? The show sucks and it will never be a hit in America. Nobody in the US cares about Cowell's shitty shows anymore. It's all about "The Voice" now.
Time to cancel this shit and send Cowell back to the UK.
[quote]Would Kelly and Paulina actually attract viewers?
'The X-Factor' Collapses in Ratings
"Oh my God. I'm back. I'm home. All the time, it was... We finally really did it ... You Maniacs! You blew it up! Ah, damn you! God damn you all to hell!"
We are switching to the new platform for The DataLounge this weekend. All of our mobile users have been using it for over a week and all first time users have been using it for about a month - which adds up to well over one million users. So we're ready to end this phase of the testing and move everybody to the new site. (more)
And yes, we've changed the look and some of how it operates.
Yes, we know you just *hate* it in well in advance.
Yes, we know we suck.
Yes, we are the biggest suckers that ever sucked.
But it was time for a change and with the huge shift to mobile it was long overdue. We've taken this opportunity not only to update the look but also make major changes under the hood (or "bonnet" if you're either British or pretentious or both). And we have to prepare for 2016 - a presidential election year where we can normally expect to see a 60% jump in traffic (yes, we've seen 5 presidential elections so far…Christ we're old).
The site has a bunch - nay, plethora - of new features which will make the site more usable: better search, the ability to ignore posters and threads, see link previews, to pick up a thread where you left off, spam and malware filtering and more.
If you want you can go explore and see for yourself, Click here.
And while running the tests we've noticed two interesting reactions to the new system - people are spending more time on the site and more people that come stay around longer and look at more stuff. Both good things. Yay!
Possibly we've not slain all the dragons and there will be issues that come up during the switchover. There's a help button in the lower right hand corner of the page which you can use to send us bug reports.
Please include as much information about the hardware (PC, Mac, Tablet, Phone etc), operating system (Windows, Mac OS, Android, iOS etc) and browser (Chrome, Safari, Opera, Internet Explorer etc) that you are using as possible to help us replicate and fix the problem.
Please note that complaints about colors, fonts, icons and the like are not "bugs" - they are design choices that we've made and we expect one or two cases of world-class bitching. But they won't actually cause headaches, scurvy, heart attacks, Restless Leg Syndrome, Morgellon's Disease or the vapors (but have your smelling salts at hand just in case).
Talking to DataLounge servers. Please wait a moment...
