Do you love her as much as I do? She just makes me feel peaceful and calm and happy.
She's one of my favorite actresses.
[quote]Do you love her as much as I do
No. I've never given her much thought.
I love Nancy Botwin.
Love her sons even more.
I'd love to run her over with my truck
[quote]She just makes me feel peaceful and calm and happy.
That's hysterical. Working with her makes you feel the exact opposite. She is scary and stress-inducing. A walking dark cloud of a person.
Don't be a jerk, r4. Your misogyny is running over women with your truck!
She's sweet. Has her moments, though. She's done some very pro-gay work, even when it wasn't popular.
R5, spill the details!
Her personality although it seems affected- is charming- she is more of a personality than an actress, though-
Wow R5 ...never would have guessed. Always loved her,Weeds,Grand Canyon etc. Laura Linneyish?!
I used to work in Brooklyn Heights. One day I was walking around and a big SUV pulled into a parking spot. Out came MLP in a mini skirt, black patent leather-y looking boots, faux fur shrug. She was chatting on her cell and looked fabulous. I smiled as I walked past her and she gave me a big smile back. Love her.
After Meryl, MLP is my fave!
Gawd, I think she's a chirpy, and TERRIBLE actress! I can't get over her awfulness, and how popular she is! I just don't get it.
She's no Mary Stuart Masterson!
Getting out of a big SUV, R9? DEAD TO ME!!!!
Loved her in BOYS ON THE SIDE! Even Whoopi (her BOTS co-star) said back then that she'd do big things.
She's a great actress, but let's hear some firsthand accounts of her crazy behavior. They're supposed to be legendary.
The first time I paid attention to her was in the HBO version of Angels in America. Though she struck me at first as ridiculously, distractingly mannered, I quickly came around and thought she was brilliant in the role.
She was great in Saved!
She's almost Betty Buckley crazy, or so they say.
She was interested in a male friend of mine, she hung around him for a while, he rejected her though...this was in the 90s. My friend looked like a young micky rouke in 9 1/2 weeks then.
She used to pick up a new personality trait every week. Still, she's got to be a nice person underneath it all.

So she has BPD? She's a Jodie Arias type?
I've loved her since Longtime Companion. She just brings a distinctive kind of energy to the screen. But yes, I've heard her co-stars typically don't feel the same way.
[quote]Even Whoopi (her BOTS co-star) said back then that she'd do big things.
Yes, the star of Jumpin' Jack Flash is quite the arbiter of talent!
She should have played Erin Brockovich instead of Julia Roberts
Saw her in Prelude to a Kiss at Circle Rep with Alec Bladwin and have loved her as an actress ever since, although I found WEEDS annoying.
But, have know people who have worked with her and it's not pleasant.
$6,623/mo HOA fee?? $80k a year? That makes me want to vomit.
Does she have "crazy eyes"?
She was really good in Proof and you couldn't even tell that she was 20 years too old for the role.
Someone on DL posted a few years ago how she terrorized/humiliated an assistant or an intern on set among other things, and upon reading that I started hating her. Couldn't even watch Weeds after that.
She's the least relevant of interesting of the three-named Mary's.
R37.. Really? You sure about that?
Watch it now. Jumping Jack Flash was brilliant. Almost completely ad-libbed and improvised. Not that you could tell!
She does the same low-energy, mumble mess in every project. I thought her West Wing character and Angels in America character were EXACTLY alike!
That's why someone above said she's a personality more than an actor, R40. I still like her energy.
She is a total pain in the ass to work with.
Really, in interviews, she seems sort of self- absorbed?? I could she her being a pain...a
She uttered a gay slur a few months ago.
What did she say, R44?
It seems out of character for her but maybe not.
She stands out in 'Angels in America' and in 'Fried Green Tomatoes'. She is great in those films.
[quote]$6,623/mo HOA fee?? $80k a year? That makes me want to vomit.
You must not live in Manhattan, dear. $1/mo per $1,000 in value is average. $6,623 for a $7 million duplex isn't bad at all, particularly when it's in one of the most prime locations in the city. (Btw if you *really* wish to be nauseated, you should see some of the apartments inside hotels like the Pierre with monthly fees of $50K.)
[quote]Someone on DL posted a few years ago how she terrorized/humiliated an assistant or an intern on set among other things
Rumors about celebrities "terrorizing" PAs are nearly as commonplace on DL as rumors about celebrities being gay. In other words, 98% of them are total fabricated bullshit.
Btw I *love* MLP and think she looks fucking *amazing* for her age. I don't know what work she's had done, but she's managed to look youthful without Nicole "Frozen Forehead" Kidman or Jessica "Permanent Look of Surprise" Lange bad plastic surgery.
R40 - Her character in WW was not low energy.
If I had to guess - fillers in upper cheek and botox the around eyes. That and a portrait in an attic somewhere.
She looks like a turtle. Hate her for that alone.
I think she looks fine. Stupid Billy Crudup shouldn't have left her for another woman. Of course, if Mary-Louise was a cold woman, then that's a different story, but i don't think that she falls in this category.
