Cops are thugs with badges

A mob of nine men beat David Sal Silva, 33, to death in Bakersfield, California, last week. They hogtied him, bashed his head with batons, picked him up and then dropped him at least twice as he screamed and pleaded for his life. They committed this crime openly – I would say in broad daylight, except that it was around midnight. Nonetheless, they slaughtered Mr. Silva on a fairly busy road, across the street from a hospital and in view of the neighborhood’s residents and passers-by.

Indeed, so blatant were they that said passers-by videotaped the atrocity from beginning to end on their cell phones. Which the thugs or their accomplices then stole, menacing and intimidating the witnesses.

Where are the cops in all this? Protecting their own: the nine killers are sheriffs from Kern County. When a guard at the hospital called to report a “possibly intoxicated” man in the area, they descended to exterminate him. Their excuse is the usual: resisting arrest. But the onlookers vehemently deny that. One named Sulina Quair called to report the crime and courageously told a dispatcher in the sheriff’s office, “…These cops have no reason to do this to this man." She repeatedly stressed in her comments (listen to them here by scrolling to the bottom of the article) that the attack was unprovoked murder.

The victim’s screams awakened Ruben Ceballos. "When I got outside,” says Mr. Ceballos, “I saw two officers beating a man with batons and they were hitting his head so every time they would swing, I could hear the blows to his head.”

Indeed, “Multiple witnesses have said deputies repeatedly beat and struck Silva with batons even as he begged them to stop.”

Our heroic Sulina Quair made the mistake of confessing to the sheriff’s office, “I got it all on video camera and I'm sending it to the news.” That catapulted deputies on a wild scramble to steal not only Ms. Quair’s phone but her boyfriend’s as well. In fact, when these incredibly brave patriots refused to hand over their property, the cops held them against their will in their homes for 10 hours, in direct violation of California’s law, until a search warrant arrived. "They were tired, scared, with a 9-year-old child there who was terrified," according to their attorney.

As always, the sheriff's office is "investigating" itself so it can whitewash its depredations while assuring the serfs that all is well in the police-state. Meanwhile, as Mr. Silva's family grieves and the traumatized witnesses tremble, the cops request "patience" so they have plenty of time to erase the cell-phone's footage and otherwise destroy evidence.

Says Ms. Sulina, “I have been crying a lot and [Mr. Silva's] voice just plays over and over in my head … I sit there and I can still hear him choking in his own blood, trying to gasp for air.”

Mr. Silva leaves behind heartbroken parents who, two days after the murder, had still not figured out how to tell their four grandchildren that their father will never again hug them, and a younger brother, Chris, who cried, “"My brother spent the last eight minutes of his life pleading, begging for his life.”

How many more serfs must tragically, agonizingly die before we abolish police departments?

Thanks r6 r7 for the update.

Why bother? The DA will softball any prosecution, out of either solidarity with the cops or fear for his job and retribution. The cops will be painted as defenders who- just this ONE time- got out of hand, and are really, really sowwy and sad and regret it and pwomise to never ever ever do it again.

Even if they are convicted they will still get to collect $100K/yr for the rest of their lives in pension money. The whole system is rigged.

But GOD FORBID anyone claim that abolishing the police and replacing them with a private system of legal dispute and property protection would be superior!!! Then all those drug users and prostitutes and gamblers would be running free terrorizing us!

Sickening to know they murdered someone and will get away with it.

Your right. Anyone's first inclination upon hearing someone trying to break into his or her home would be to call uneducated rent-a-cops working for $7.50 an hour for first rate, quality service and protection.

by Anonymousreply 11May 14, 2013 10:49 PM

R11-

Let's see...cops average around 100K/yr in tax money for their entire careers, and spend most of their time harassing motorists who go 5 miles over the speed limit, or putting people who want to smoke pot in jail, or busting hookers, or stopping black men for no reason, and when the shit gets serious they claim it's "too dangerous" for them to go into the school that is being shot up by a maniac.

The alternative would be a $10/month insurance plan that would cover any crime, but without having to worry about them breaking into your house on a faulty charge, or beating you to death because you "mouthed off", or shooting you because you looked like someone they had in their sites.

I'll go with plan B, and anyone with an IQ above room temperature would too.

Fucking Libertarian idiots.

by Anonymousreply 14May 14, 2013 11:23 PM

When people write things like this:

[quote]Fucking morons like you make me want to retch

This detracts from whatever message you are trying to spread. Why would anyone want to engage in a debate with such a nice and rational person as yourself? Especially since you offer such a comprehensive explanation and utility analysis of your fool-proof plan.

I can find homeless people at the local recycling center who are more appealing and lucid to debate.

by Anonymousreply 15May 14, 2013 11:27 PM

Small minds have small thoughts.

R15, if they offered a thoughtful critique I wouldn't call them fucking morons. Using Blackwater (which doesn't even use that name) and calling for Rent-A-Cops shows they are too wedded to their love for the government and police to see outside the little box where their minds are trapped.

Care to offer a critique? You seem to be at least smart enough to see that the police state is becoming Stasi-like in proportion, and that such a system is doomed to either A) violent overthrow or B) reasonable replacement by peaceful private companies that don't care if you gamble, or pay for sex, or use drugs, etc. as long as you don't steal or attack/murder or defraud other people.

I know someone who got into a traffic accident with a cop car. It was entirely the fault of the cops, but they all conspired and lied to make it look like it was my friend's fault to cover up their fuck up.

If they did this for a very minor accident (no one was hurt, etc.) can you imagine the lengths to which they will go when it's something serious?

I was brought up in a very middle class, cop-respecting community. But when I learned about the incident with my friend and the cop-accident I never looked a cops the same way again.

by Anonymousreply 17May 14, 2013 11:46 PM

Jesus, R16. First you call me a fucking moron who makes you want to retch, then you make all sorts of unsubstantiated assumptions (too many to name), go on to gloss over Eric Prince and his ilk as well as the great tendency of private corporations to try to maximize shareholder/owner gain at the expense of operating costs, and, finally, you call me "at least smart enough to see" and therefore worthy of offering critique. You bring so much to the table. Not least among these qualities is your keen perceptiveness and incisive analytic ability.

Stories like this are real tragedies, in part because they can happen to any one of us. In part because we the people allow it to happen. Stories like this are also innumerable, happen everyday and have been happening again and again for millenia. I've witnessed with my own eyes scenes like those described. I'm sorry it happened, but I'm glad I saw it because it opened my eyes to the reality of the world in which we live.

What's the answer? Better hiring standards for all Government agencies? A better informed and more vociferous citizenry? Both decent ideas. The stumbling block? Those in power want to stay in power (And have been actively dumbing down the populous to that end). That said, one thing you do NOT want is a 'privatized Police force', one need look no further than Iraq, Afghanistan and New Orleans to see why that would be a terrible idea.

Empower yourselves, inform yourselves and leave your preconceptions and partisanship behind.

R11-15-18

Uhh, you were the first to posit that a private legal system would be "uneducated Rent-a-cops" which shows you have no understanding of private insurance and protection systems.

I have no doubt you've never explored the topic, but felt the need to chime in- that kind of entitled ignorance makes me want to retch.

You don't even acknowledge that cops spend most of their time occupied by non-crimes like busting prostitutes,or people smoking pot, or gambling, or driving faster than the arbitrarily set speed limit, or harassing people for the crime of "DWB" (Driving While Black) or any of the other things they spend most of their days while wasting our time and tax dollars.

Erik Prince is a mercenary, employed BY THE GOVERNMENT, to go and kill godless Ay-rabs and Mooslums for our masters in DC. The connection to private security forces, designed to protect individuals and prevent crimes or recover stolen property and capture the criminal, is not even tenuous- it's ridiculous. It shows that the person that connects the two is ignorant at best, and disingenuous at worst.

As for "maximizing profits" (a sure sign that the person doesn't understand that profit drives all private interactions) we would all be better off if we abolished the police (and public schools, and road departments, and all "public" functions) and privatized them. It would mean no more "murder by cop" or failing schools or "bridges to nowhere".

Do you think a cop who worked for you, as an agent of your insurance agency, would bust down the door of anyone unless they were 100% certain they stole your TV? And if they did, then the company would be liable for repairs and damages- unlike today, where if the cops bust into your house and ransack it (or shoot you) they get off scott-free because it's "for the public good".

R11-15-18, you sound like a smart kid, but your fealty to a government system that is so obviously and inherently corrupt makes me sad. It cannot be reformed because the corruption is a part of the system. Remember Acton's admonition- "Power corrupts..."

Until power is devolved down to the hyperlocal level (which means abolishing DC) then these kind of things- torture, mass murder, graft, pollution, etc. will continue and get worse.

I hope you're smart enough to see that.

by Anonymousreply 22May 15, 2013 2:59 AM

R20, The "private police forces" you mention are anything but. They are there because the government authorized them, and immunized them from liability.

[quote]Better hiring standards for all Government agencies?

The police routinely eliminate candidates that score too highly on IQ tests. The fucking goddamn Supreme Court recently ruled that it was okay to discriminate against people who were too smart. (See Link) Does that now show you that the cops are just an adjunct of the police state?

[quote]A better informed and more vociferous citizenry?

Public schools are not designed to educate, but to indoctrinate. The smartest kids are the ones that suffer the most.

[quote]Those in power want to stay in power (And have been actively dumbing down the populous to that end).

DingDingDING!!!

You got it, now extrapolate from that realization, and read some Rothbard, or Mises, and learn about the real world.

I've met a few nice cops and some "bully" cops. One was a guy who had the same baby sitter as a friend of mine shared. This guy ran all the other kids off because he wanted his kid to be the only one this woman would watch. He'd sit outside and watch parents go in and out of her house, taking notes, follow them, run background checks on license plates and just generally hang around the sitter's house acting uncomfortably threatening. He tried to run one parent off the road and later claimed he was "playing". The sitter eventually told him to take his kid and go away but the guy was a total psycho.

Six Kern County sheriff's deputies and a sergeant, who last week were involved in a violent confrontation with a man who was struck numerous times with batons before he died, have returned to their regular jobs, officials said Tuesday.

David Sal Silva, 33, a father of four, was pronounced dead Wednesday less than an hour after eyewitnesses reported seeing several deputies repeatedly strike the man in the head with batons as he lay on the pavement.

Deputies had responded to a report of an intoxicated man. In addition to the deputies and sergeant, two California Highway Patrol officers were involved in the incident.

Raymond Pruitt, a Kern County Sheriff's Office spokesman, said the deputies and the sergeant present during the fatal incident last week "have been released to full duty."

The department has identified those involved as deputies Ryan Greer, Tanner Miller, Jeffrey Kelly, Luis Almanza, Brian Brock, David Stephens and Sgt. Douglas Sword.

Sheriff Donny Youngblood said a cause of death for Silva rests on toxicological tests, which could take from 90 to 120 days to be completed.

Youngblood cautioned in an interview Monday that it is too early in the investigation to reach any conclusions about Silva's death.

In an unusual move, sheriff's officials later detained for several hours two witnesses who had videotaped the incident on their phones. They were released only after they surrendered their phones to deputies.

Witnesses to the incident have described a violent scene, in which sheriff's deputies repeatedly struck Silva in the head with batons.

"I saw two sheriff's deputies on top of this guy, just beating him," eyewitness Ruben Ceballos said in an interview Monday. "He was screaming in pain ... asking for help. He was incapable of fighting back — he was outnumbered, on the ground. They just beat him up."

One woman frantically called 911, telling the operator: "The guy was laying on the floor and eight sheriffs ran up and started beating him up with sticks. The man is dead laying right here, right now. I got it all on video camera and I'm sending it to the news. These cops have no reason to do this to this man."

The decision to take the witnesses' cellphones has raised further questions about the Kern County sheriff's handling of the incident.

"It makes it look like a cover-up," said David Cohn, a lawyer for Silva's children and parents, adding that he has not been able to see the footage. "What we're all concerned about is, 'Are these videos going to be altered? Are they going to be deleted?' "

Youngblood defended the decision to take custody of the phones as a way of preserving possible evidence. The sheriff said his office obtained a search warrant for the phones.

"We still have to secure the evidence, especially when the evidence can tell us whether we did it right or wrong," Youngblood said.

He said his agency, to remove the appearance of any conflict, has asked the Bakersfield Police Department to analyze the phone videos.

KERO-TV Channel 23 in Bakersfield broadcast a security camera video from the scene showing grainy images of figures pummeling someone on the ground, with about 20 swings of what appear to be batons or sticks. It's difficult to see Silva in the seven-minute video or how many of those swings connected.

Silva stopped breathing and was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:44 a.m. Wednesday, the sheriff's office said.

They are claiming Sal Silva died OF HEART DISEASE, not the brutal beating the cops delivered.

------

Kern County Sheriff Donny Youngblood said Thursday that a man at the center of a videotaped altercation with deputies died from heart disease -- not baton blows.

The county coroner’s office labeled David Sal Silva’s death accidental, adding that the primary cause of death was hypertensive heart disease.

Videos taken by witnesses showed baton blows and a struggle between Silva and deputies.

Youngblood said those blows were mainly to his midsection and were not fatal. Silva also received a bite from a K-9 dog.

Cops are degenerate psycho killer rapists.

In Utah, as elsewhere in the Soyuz, “battering” a police officer is considered an especially grievous crime. Until earlier this year, this offense was treated as a Class A misdemeanor. Under SB 131, a measure enacted earlier this year by the state legislature, it is now a class C felony.

Any incidental contact between a Mundane and the sanctified personage of a police officer – including the act of breathing on an officer – can be prosecuted as “battery.” This would apply to cases in which a woman is desperately trying to prevent an officer from violating her sexually: A victim who puts up resistance in such circumstances can expect to be violently subdued, arrested, and charged with “assaulting an officer.”

In Utah, a victim of a sexual assault by a police officer could easily find herself convicted of a felony unless she submits with docility to whatever the armed predator is willing to inflict on her. On the other hand, if the officer is exposed as a sex offender, it’s quite likely that he would face misdemeanor charges. This is illustrated by the case of former Box Elder County Sheriff’s Deputy Scott Womack, who is facing multiple lawsuits and criminal charges involving illegal strip-searches of young women conducted during traffic stops over a period of about two years.

In February, Womack pleaded no contest to three counts of attempted custodial misconduct – which is a misdemeanor offense. In exchange for Womack’s plea, county prosecutors dropped nine additional charges – all of them misdemeanors, as well.

Under the plea bargain agreement, Womack’s name would not be permanently inscribed in the sex offender registry – despite the fact that his acts are, by definition, those of a violent sex offender. Since the charges against him are misdemeanors, Womack would eventually be eligible for the restoration of his peace officer certification. Womack does face federal criminal charges and federal lawsuits filed by three of his victims, but it’s likely that most, if not all, of the trouble he faces would be made to disappear once the first state case against him is closed.

After he was arraigned, Womack was compelled to surrender his passport and to avoid contact with the victims. However, he has been free during the legal proceedings. During a court hearing in early May, Womack – surrounded by family and other supportive spectators – “waited for the judge to call his case sitting in a back room of the court, shrouded by blinds that court workers said [are] typically reserved for victims who do not want to be seen by defendants,” reported the Salt Lake Tribune.

by Anonymousreply 52May 28, 2013 5:00 AM

cont-

In other words, the impenitent predator was dealt with as if he were the victim, cosseted and sheltered and treated with gentle deference. He has been allowed to remain at large despite the fact that at least one of the victims, Brigham City resident Holly Griffin, said that she was afraid of retaliation by Womack “because he had my address.”

Griffin’s fears were amply justified. During a traffic stop not far from her home, Womack – in what would emerge as his modus operandi – claimed that Griffin was wanted on a narcotics warrant, and would be handcuffed and taken to the county jail unless she submitted to an invasive inspection for tattoos, piercings, and other identifiers.

“When he returned to my car [after getting the driver’s license and registration], he explained that there was a warrant out for me in Summit County,” Griffin told the Salt Lake City ABC affiliate. “I told him I had not been to Summit County in a few years and that I had never done anything wrong in my life.”

Womack presented Griffin with two options: Submit to a partial strip search, or go to jail. When she requested that a female officer conduct the search, Womack replied that none was available.

“He asked me to life up my shirt up to my bra, lift down my pants to expose my upper thigh, and to show my lower leg,” the victim recounts. After she had satisfied the armed stranger’s demands, Womack released her without issuing a citation or a warning. Understandably traumatized by her experience, Griffin didn’t file a complaint – until after another victim, 18-year-old Tamsen Reid, filed a federal lawsuit against Womack and Box Elder County.

On November 20, 2010, Reid – who was 17 at the time – was one of five teenagers in a car that was stopped by Womack during a snowstorm. Womack claimed that the driver was speeding. After noticing that one of the teens was smoking, Womack ordered the driver and the passengers out of the car to search the vehicle for drugs.

After running the IDs of the five teenagers, Womack claimed that three of them – all of them young women, wouldn’t you know – had outstanding drug warrants in other jurisdictions. He had Reid and her female friends stand barefoot in the snow while lifting up their shirts and their bras, ostensibly to search for drugs.

For some reason, the costumed creeper took a special interest in Reid. Womack claimed that Reid was wanted in that state for heroin possession. This led the young woman, who had not been to Arizona and had never done heroin, to suggest that she might be the victim of identity theft.

by Anonymousreply 53May 28, 2013 5:01 AM

cont

Displaying the affected solicitude of a practiced molester, Womack told the frightened girl that she could clear things up right away, if she would simply get into his patrol vehicle and undress so he could inspect her for distinctive tattoos and piercings. Her only other alternative was to be handcuffed and booked into jail.

Terrified, and most likely nauseous, Reid complied. This prompted the predator to escalate his demands: He claimed that it was necessary for the teenager to spread her legs in order for him to determine if she had a distinctive tattoo in her genital region. At that point, Reid finally rebelled, telling the perverted stranger that the examination was over. Womack issued a warning to the driver, and the teenagers went on their way.

At the time, Reid later recalled, the teens were relieved, rather than outraged, because nobody got a ticket.

About ten months later, following her 18th birthday, Reid contacted the Box Elder Sheriff’s Office to have the spurious drug warrant removed from her record. The clerk with whom Reid spoke informed her that there was no warrant, and never had been.

Reid also found out that Womack didn’t file a record of the traffic stop or the warning he had issued to the driver. She was also told that her that several other complaints had been received about Womack’s behavior.

Shortly after Reid filed a lawsuit against Box Elder County, Womack was allowed to “leave employment” at the Sheriff’s Office – but he was permitted to keep his law enforcement certification until the lawsuit was made public. By that time it had been known, for more than a year, that Womack was in the habit of conducting undocumented traffic stops in which he neither filed reports nor turned on his dashcam recorder.

In the August 2011 press conference announcing her lawsuit, Reid insisted that, however inexplicably, she still “believed in law enforcement,” but that her experience left her experiencing nightmares that would cause her to “wake up screaming.”

The indelible trauma experienced by Reid and Womack’s other victims could easily have turned out even worse if any of them had put up even the slightest physical resistance to the deputy’s sexual assaults.

Reid, who was undressed and alone in Deputy Aqualung’s Creepmobile, might consider herself to be blessed: If Womack had decided not to let the victim leave after she refused to undergo a genital examination, Reid most likely would have been arrested for resisting arrest and “assaulting” the sexual predator who had detained her.

by Anonymousreply 54May 28, 2013 5:01 AM

Womack is hardly the first uniformed sociopath to force females to disrobe at gunpoint. In 2009, the City of Scottsdale, Arizona hit up local tax victims to pay a $315,000 settlement to a 19-year-old woman who was the victim of a similar sexual assault by former Police officer Chong Kim. In that case, the 19-year-old made the mistake of calling the police for “help” with intruders in her apartment. When Chong arrived, he noticed that the teenager had been drinking, a fact that he used as leverage to order her to “get naked.” After that woman filed a complaint, it was discovered that Chong had committed similar crimes against as many as 20 other women. Chong was forced to resign. There is no record of him being prosecuted for his crimes.

Under SB 131, the newly enacted Utah law on “battering” a law enforcement officer, a future victim of a similar sexual assault by a cop – and there will be others – could be charged with a felony if she tries to escape.

During a February 7 Utah Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on SB 131, State Senator Aaron Osmond explained that he filed the bill in response to a “constituent request” from a police officer in his district. Osmond recruited four students from Copper Hills High School to serve as “co-presenters” of the bill.

Each of these earnest young people dutifully recited pious platitudes about the sterling nobility of the state’s armed enforcement caste, the all-encompassing danger in which they constantly find themselves, the vulgar ingratitude of those who would criticize them, and the moral obligation of the public “to protect them” (yes, one witness actually used those words).

The last witness, a young woman named Allison (whose last name I will not mention), denounced “aggressors” who would do injury to “the heroes who promote our well-being every day…. Let’s do all we can to increase the safety of our honorable officers.” Dear Allison: Have you met Tamsen Reid? I’m sure she would be interested in having a chat with you about the uniformed hero who was so zealous to promote Reid’s “well-being” that he tried to force her, at gunpoint, to undergo an unauthorized gynecological exam in his patrol vehicle.

Black people can be misguided idiots like anybody else. Your point?

R57-

why are you trying to speak for black men?

by Anonymousreply 58May 28, 2013 5:58 AM

There isn't a way to take on the cops. Hell, the cops who nearly murdered Rodney King work for the LAPD TO THIS DAY. I think they were even promoted.

Cops abuse their power, and they know there will never be consequences for them.

by Anonymousreply 59May 28, 2013 4:46 PM

r57 thinks everyone who isn't blinded is a libertarian. Let me guess, he's an Obama nut...right? Pull your tongue outta that asshole.

by Anonymousreply 60May 28, 2013 4:49 PM

And why the hell would anyone use backwater? They're fucking worse than the cops are. didn't you see that video of the woman throwing kittens into the ocean??

Yeah, we want those people to protect us!!

by Anonymousreply 61May 28, 2013 4:51 PM

[quote]why are you trying to speak for black men?

I'm not. Why do you keep spamming us with insane bullshit?

by Anonymousreply 62May 28, 2013 5:41 PM

That's why I loathe cops, R59

They can kill, steal, assault and rape and 99 out of 100 cases end up with the victim being persecuted.

by Anonymousreply 63May 28, 2013 9:19 PM

There are very few good cops. Most of them deserve a bullet to their face and those on here defending our current police state deserve abullet to their faces as well.

by Anonymousreply 64May 29, 2013 12:43 AM

r64---

I wouldn't go that far- most cops are just kids who do what they're told, and fear retribution if they "tattle" on the bad cops. The "Bad Cops" are protected, and that's the sad part.

If we ended the war on drugs, gambling and prostitution then we could cut our police forces by 90% and then focus on REAL crimes...like murder by drone, or congressional malfeasance, or presidential misconduct.

by Anonymousreply 65May 29, 2013 1:40 AM

Just think of how crime would plummet if we got rid of 90% of the cops! Just give everybody a gun, and let criminals regulate themselves!

(rolls eyes)

Libertarians, idiots, etc.

by Anonymousreply 66May 29, 2013 3:36 AM

R60-

I love you!

I can't understand how any black man (or woman!) can support the cops!?!?!

Even worse is when they support the assholes that are putting bothers in jail- the War on Drugs is a war on black men!

When I see a black person at a Ron Paul meeting, I know we are going to get on- they may feel uncomfortable at first with all the white guys, but as soon as a gay dude comes up and starts talking they feel at ease. It's a way of saying "You're and outcast, I'm an outcast, so let's be cool".

In my midsize city/region (which is 90% white) the black people that come to Ron Paul events have become community leaders over the last few years. These guys/girls have started to change our "ghetto" radically, despite the fact that Ron Paul lost.

(No, they're not on the DL. They just feel comfortable when someone they think of as an "Outcast" is cool with them. Maybe one day I will share what one of the older women told me about how I helped her when she realized her grandson would probably become a gay man. That boy is lucky that Ron Paul got to his grandpa so she could beat it into his grandpa!)

I would say that 20-30% of the adults that live in the "public housing" in my region come to the meetings each quarter. Most of them are pissed about one issue or another, but they are "networking" (GOD I hate that word) with people to find jobs (mostly off the books, with no taxes) so they can try to move out.

I know that the biggest meeting was after Ron Paul lost our district, with many people calling it voter fraud.

The people that call Ron Paul a racist are just brainwashed fools.

by Anonymousreply 67May 30, 2013 4:48 AM

Seriously, the cop threads on DL are always full of angry people. A bunch of insane people bitching about people they call insane.

R66-

I'm sorry that you are too stupid to understand freedom. It really makes it hard for the rest of us who are normal to base our society on the dumbest and least capable.

Perhaps we should make the entire world idiot-proof so that you, and mentally retarded fuckwads like you- feel comfortable interacting with people with an IQ over 40.

Most adults know that pointing a gun at anyone is wrong, unless you want to kill them. I learned that as a child- my pop unloaded a gun in front of me, showed me the six empty barrels, and then asked me to point it at the window. When I did, he pushed it towards the ground and told me never to do it again- EVERY gun is loaded, and you NEVER point it at anything unless you want it dead. It made an impression on me, and a few years ago I even busted my pop when he was cleaning a gun and reminded him of the story.

But, R66, if only cops and criminals have guns, then what happens when the cops are ordered to "kill all fags"?

Well, according to your retarded muthafucking ass, all the criminals and cops will be coming after us.

When that happens I will be happy I know a lot of well armed black men that can protect me.

You're a fucking retarded NeoNazi.

“You’re dead, mother****r!”

Those were the last words spoken to 41-year-old Kamas, Utah resident Wade Pennington as he bled to death from two gunshot wounds inflicted at point-blank range. The man who hurled that sadistic taunt at Pennington, Brett Lopez, wasn’t the shooter; his role had been to trap the unarmed victim in the kill zone while his associate, Jared Nichols, pulled the trigger.

Just minutes earlier, Nichols had been overheard saying that he intended to “take out” Pennington. He and Perez were well-acquainted with the victim; indeed, immediately after he pulled the trigger, Nichols called Wade by name. After shooting Pennington, Nichols seized the dying victim and attempted to make it look as if he had been the aggressor. In doing so, Nichols wound up with some of the dying man’s blood on his clothing.

Both Nichols and Perez lied to investigators after the shooting. Their lies were contradicted by physical evidence at the crime scene and by video recordings of the incidents leading up to the homicide. A perfunctory investigation was wrapped up within twelve days without charges being filed against Nichols and Perez.

There was abundant evidence that the death of Wade Pennington was an act of criminal homicide – arguably murder in the second degree. Neither Nichols nor Perez faced criminal charges, because they were police officers, and their victim was a man with a lengthy criminal record who was on probation at the time of the May 28, 2009 shooting.

Pennington was killed in South Jordan, Utah at the end of a high-speed pursuit that was neither necessary nor authorized.

The government (via the Supreme Court) ruled that they could discriminate if an applicant scored TOO HIGH on the IQ tests.

They only hire the dumbest, most easily manipulated sociopaths.

Kinda like the TSA, or IRS.

by Anonymousreply 86August 27, 2013 2:54 AM

A man whose bid to become a police officer was rejected after he scored too high on an intelligence test has lost an appeal in his federal lawsuit against the city.

“This kind of puts an official face on discrimination in America against people of a certain class,” Jordan said today from his Waterford home. “I maintain you have no more control over your basic intelligence than your eye color or your gender or anything else.”

Jordan, a 49-year-old college graduate, took the exam in 1996 and scored 33 points, the equivalent of an IQ of 125. But New London police interviewed only candidates who scored 20 to 27, on the theory that those who scored too high could get bored with police work and leave soon after undergoing costly training.

The average score nationally for police officers is 21 to 22, the equivalent of an IQ of 104, or just a little above average.

But the U.S. District Court found that New London had “shown a rational basis for the policy.” In a ruling dated Aug. 23, the 2nd Circuit agreed. The court said the policy might be unwise but was a rational way to reduce job turnover.

Test

by Anonymousreply 91March 12, 2014 12:21 AM

The victim in the June 2012 attack, Brian Vander Lee, is a father of four who employed in the productive sector. He was talking on a cell phone when Clifford confronted him at a table outside a bar and grill. The SWAT operator, who took offense over something Vander Lee had said, hit him with a punch to the head that knocked him to the ground. As a result of falling head-first onto a concrete surface, the victim suffered trauma so intense that it required two brain surgeries and 40 hours on life support.

The heroic SWAT operator who sucker-punched the unarmed and puzzled victim – and then, displaying the valor for which his profession is celebrated, ran away — insisted that he acted in “self-defense.” Last July he was sentenced to at least twenty-five months in prison.

Although Minneapolis police are bold as Achilles in their dealings with unarmed, non-threatening bar and restaurant patrons, they are much more reserved when dealing with violent criminals. Rafael Lopez was robbed and severely beaten by a gang of at least 10 men on the street outside the Aqua nightclub in Minneapolis — less than ten yards away from the 1st Police Precinct station.

Bruised and bloodied, Lopez attempted to enter the station to file a complaint, only to be met by Officer Aaron Hanson, who angrily told him to leave. As Lopez tried to explain what had just happened to him, two of Hanson’s comrades “came out, put their gloves on and were yelling at me, telling me to get out,” he later recalled.

Lopez had tried to help a friend named Josh Rivera, who was beaten even more severely than he had been. Desperate for assistance, Rivera’s wife Magdalena called 911 A few minutes later – long after he could have provided any help – Officer Hanson ambled outside. After Magdalena described what had happened to her husband and their friend, the officer blithely explained “that he didn’t need to deal with this because it happens all the time,” she testified in an official complaint. Without offering to call an ambulance, or even asking if anybody had been seriously hurt, Hanson quickly retreated into the station and locked the door behind him. It was “literally 10 seconds and he was already going back inside,” Magdalena observes.

Later that morning, Lopez went back to the station to file an incident report.

“He figured police surveillance cameras on the street and at the police station captured the assault,” related the St. Paul Pioneer-Press. “He hoped the videos would lead to the identity of the assailants, whom he suspected were members of a gang because they were all wearing white and red shirts. It turned out he wasted his time.”

A few days after the September 2, 2011 assault, the Minneapolis PD dispatched an official notice to Lopez informing him that “this case does not meet our threshold for investigative assignment at the present time.”

The gallant men of the Minneapolis PD couldn’t be bothered to investigate a violent gang rampage that took place less than thirty feet from a precinct station – in full view of the department’s surveillance cameras. But they can be counted on to mulct the productive citizenry on behalf of the municipal government that pays them, and whose subsidized insurance indemnifies the victims of criminal acts committed by law enforcement officers when they’re off the clock.

by Anonymousreply 92March 12, 2014 12:23 AM

It can't be a surprise to anyone that power is corrupting, and that includes the brute power at the ass end of law enforcement, meaning beat cops and sheriffs' deputies and their next-level cohorts in precinct station houses or local sheriff's departments.

And anyone with knowledge of Bakersfield and Kern County expects the worst.

But mouth-farting about eliminating law enforcement (and the justice system) is cluelessly and aggressively absurd. It seems that every example of brutality and official injustice just serves as cover for loonies to talk nonsense under the guise of faux ethical outrage.

There are legal routes for addressing betrayals of justice at the hands of the police. Silence and complacency serve to protect and help the continuation of these horrors. We have a responsibility to speak out and take action. But speaking out savagely or taking stands that over the course of five millennia have proven unworkable (to say the least) undercuts progress. Noise is distracting.

THIS is what we pay cops to do---

------

An elderly woman violated her probation by leaving bread crumbs out in her yard for crows and will remain behind bars.

Eighty-one-year-old Mary Musselman was first arrested last month for feeding bears in her backyard. One of the bears was euthanized over it because the Fish and Wildlife Service said the bears might learn not to be afraid of people anymore and then get aggressive.

The judge in the case warned Musselman not to feed any more wild animals of any kind:

A judge gave her probation at the time, and made it clear: Do it again, and go to jail.

She left stale bread in her yard for the birds. The cops saw the bread and arrested her.

She did, was arrested in January, and the case ignited controversy when Musselman was held without bond.

Apparently where it got really serious is when officers recently went by to check on her home (as they reportedly did over and over) and found bread crumbs in her yard one day:

-----

So, a woman suffering from dementia left bread crumbs in her yard...and now she is being sent to prison.

Cops are thugs. Evil, sick thugs.

r13, You can't even get Obamacare that cheap! It's downright criminal.

by Anonymousreply 96March 12, 2014 2:31 AM

Ahhh. Yes, R95-

Right on time!

Your eloquent defense of the police is so persuasive that we should drop and suck the cock of the next cop that we see!

Thank you for your help.

I'm from a Western European country (one with a very non-authoritarian police force) and even here, those who've come back from the US always talk about how friendly and helpful the cops are over there.

by Anonymousreply 98March 12, 2014 3:22 AM

R98-

They've never jaywalked in front of a thug with a badge.

---------

An Austin, Texas man was sitting in a downtown Starbucks when he noticed police handing out citations for jaywalking. The police shouted at a young woman who was jogging with her headphones and apparently didn't hear them. They grabbed her and immediately handcuffed her. When she couldn't produce identification, she was arrested. Who jogs with state-issued identification? Live Leak user "Oneirishman" picked up his camera and began filming. His eyewitness account, posted at Live Leak:

Sitting at Starbucks, on the corner of 24th and San Antonio, I noticed a particularly odd situation. Two Austin Police Officers standing outside the Castilian just lingering. Every time I looked back there was a different student holding a carbon copy of what looked to be a jay walking citation. Suddenly one of the cops shouts at an innocent girl jogging with her headphones on through West Campus. He wobbled after her and grabbed her by the arm. Startled and not knowing it was a cop, she jerked her arm away. The cop viewed this as resisting arrest and proceeded to grab both arms tightly, placing her in handcuffs. She repeatedly pleaded with them saying that she was just exercising and to let her go. She repeatedly cried out, "I did not do anything wrong…just give me the ticket." The other officer strolled over and not they where making a scene. She tried to get up. I doubt she was running away, as she was in handcuffs, but the second cop pushed her back down to the ground. Because of the commotion, they walked her to the cop car in the alleyway next to the Big Bite, where she, overcome with frustration, yelled loudly to gain attention. Because of that, the cops tightened their grip causing her to squirm and kick. Then came two bike cops from down the alley. Now we have four cops and one small, helpless girl in the back of a cop car, because she was just going for a run.

From the Daily Texan Online:

City police officers arrested a woman around 10:45 a.m. Thursday for failing to provide identification after she was stopped near the intersection of 24th and San Antonio, outside Big Bite Pizza & Grill.

Advertising senior Chris Quintero, who witnessed the arrest, said Austin Police Department officers were working at the intersection when the woman jogged across the block.

“I was sitting at the Starbucks at 24th and San Antonio,” Quintero said. “Then I hear a cop shout at an innocent girl jogging through West Campus with her headphones on.” When the woman did not stop, the officer grabbed her by the arm and quickly placed her in handcuffs, Quintero said.

“She repeatedly pleaded with them, saying that she was just exercising and to let her go,” Quintero said.

by Anonymousreply 100March 12, 2014 4:40 AM

I agree just a bunch of fucking losers. You hear about Cops beating and killing innocent people so often its not shocking anymore.

by Anonymousreply 101March 12, 2014 5:30 AM

R100-

R95 can't stand when people that think mutual agreement and peaceful contracts are better than guns to the head.

It's sad, so it posts this nonsense screed.

Christ, would the Libertarian Idiot Troll(TM) please quit bumping his own posts....

R9. Yes, that's worked out splendidly with privatizing prisons.

by Anonymousreply 107October 22, 2014 1:13 PM

The NYC and Ferguson murders are sick.

Cops suck.

by Anonymousreply 108December 10, 2014 2:34 AM

Bump for E Garner.

Libertarians were the first to see through the government/media bullshit.

Maybe one day you will catch on!

by Anonymousreply 109December 10, 2014 5:14 AM

[quote]Yes, that's worked out splendidly with privatizing prisons.

Ahh, yes, the perfect synthesis of government power and crony-capitalist greed.

This is why Ron Paul changed the game.

How did you get this stupid?

by Anonymousreply 110December 10, 2014 5:56 AM

Although I feel for cops in some respects (ie. they have to wade through legal red tape every time they legally do their job), I have read that psychopaths will seek out jobs where they think they can get away with their shit. What better way for a psycho to get his kicks than to have free rein over people just because he's got a badge. Therefore I agree that there must be ALOT of psychopaths in the police force for this reason.

by Anonymousreply 111December 10, 2014 6:06 AM

R111

That applies to politics.

Psychos like Clinton, Bush, Cheney and Obama rise to the top!

by Anonymousreply 112December 10, 2014 6:08 AM

To have to die like that is just disgusting! Those are not humans! And hopefully one day they will pay for it some how or another.

by Anonymousreply 113December 10, 2014 12:51 PM

When you run a police department or system to work a certain way, you choose the ones who will fill those make it work to hire.

by Anonymousreply 114December 10, 2014 1:32 PM

R114-

Your poor syntax and incomprehensible gibberish make me think you are a COP!

Please try again.

by Anonymousreply 115January 1, 2015 1:22 AM

Remember those wise words of Mr. Scrooge "and decrease the surplus population."

by Anonymousreply 116January 1, 2015 1:35 AM

How many threads are there where the OP is shrieking "Cops are thugs?!" A couple dozen, maybe. This idiot needs to shut the fuck up.

by Anonymousreply 117January 1, 2015 2:37 AM

R114-

An off duty cop. What a moron.
