Staying in your small home town.

Since joining facebook and becoming reacquainted with former classmates I have to say I'm shocked at how many of them stayed put in our little redneck town. They got married, had kids and essentially became their parents. They golf, coach kids sports, are involved in the local this or that. Even some of the (still) single ones still live there. I suppose they stayed because it was easy. Their lives were mapped out for them. They knew what to do and what was expected of them. A few of them are obsessed with our high school days and have all the pictures and yearbooks and know who and where everyone is. I don't remember who most of them are anymore. I high-tailed it out of that shit hole as soon as I could. Not just because I was gay but because I knew there was a big world out there and I wanted to be part of it. I wanted to see and do things and live in big cities and meet interesting people. High school was OK for me but certainly nothing special. It was just something to get through until I could get on with life.
