R2, The Voice of the Night, is correct. House Republicans today are a monument to dumbfuckery of the very worst kind.
That being said, OP, what the hell is up with your list? Are you unaware that there are intelligent and stupid people in pretty much every occupation?
I spent a lot of time at both Harvard and MIT. In theory, the people I met there are among the most intelligent in the country. In reality, many of them weren't any smarter than the people who waited on me at local fast-food joints, fixed my car, policed my neighborhood or turned tricks downtown.
Grow up, OP.
You forgot acting.
This. Acting attract people who are good looking and like attention. Those things have little to do with intelligence.
People who post polls on DL
hey, you get what you pay for...
Did you type this on your iPhone from a GOProud meeting, OP?
I'm with R17, I have had to deal with a few in the past couple months and they are quite possibly the stupidest people ever.
Hair stylists. Thread closed.
Military. There are abundant stories of recruiters leaving the room to encourage cheating, so that everyone could pass the enlistment exam.
Does anyone remember the 60 Minutes episode on the lack of intelligence in the military? The DI was giving instructions on how to write a letter home. "Dear Mother and Father, or Dear Mother, or Dear Whatever. I am fine. I am at Fort Bragg. I am eating 3 square meals every day. . "
Then he said, "now bow your heads and pray." Everyone then bowed their heads and prayed in unison.

r26, oh no, they are smart. They can't do shit yet live of the best, sheltered life. They are aware that they are fucking you.
Teachers are, by and large, extremely dumb. The education curriculum is a joke: lots of classes on "teaching theory" and shit. No actual knowledge of anything is required.
Also, I used to read some of the memos that teachers would write: full of fragment sentences, noun/verb disagreement, dangling modifiers, etc. Embarrassing.
But did they know that the word "dumb" means "mute", rather than "stupid", R28?
Grocery Store's. Especially Kroger.
R32 But I'll bet they know how to use apostrophes.

Customer service representative.
Since when is any menial job a "profession?"
r37 proctologists have an advantage over most jobs. They deal with one asshole at a time.
ITA @ R22.
Cosmetology school is the fall back for students who are too dumb to go to college. They can't pass even the most basic academic courses.
r42, schools try to make their students feel good by calling their business a "Beauty College."
I'm going with, "People who don't understand the difference between PROFESSION and OCCUPATION."
You forgot psychology. Really inept people, generally speaking.
Psychology attracts people who are crazy, rather than dumb.
And parenthood is what immensely stupid people do with their lives, if only because they want someone to take care of them.
I'm in the military and I think it's hilarious that my chosen profession is currently "winning." Disregard the fact that you have to pass a test to join the military, and many of the jobs are technical! If it helps you sleep at night to think that servicemembers are dumber than prostitutes or custodians, carry on.
R48, There are many intelligent and very skilled and competent men&women serving in the military, I agree. On the other hand, there are many at the lower levels that have been encouraged to cheat on their entrance tests. You should see some of the profiles from 60 Minutes. When you have top down decision making, those that are creative or innovative tend to leave. Same with government employees. (Where's their category?)
But did they know that the word "dumb" means "mute", rather than "stupid"?
You seem to feel the need to write this on every thread where the word "dumb" is used in this meaning. If you're really unaware that words can have more than one meaning, you're dumber (more stupid) than all the other posters on this thread. You are very dense indeed.
The link, again:
r2 got it right.
Not a profession, but Republican presidential candidates are in a league all their own.
Human Resources. Truely bright people will always be in a part of the business that produces revenue.
OTOH- when you do find the unicorn that is the bright, innovative HR person - please treat them well.

"Psychology" is a profession? Psychology graduates end up in any number of jobs and fields. You no doubt mean "psychotherapy," which, strictly speaking, is not a profession either.
