I imagine more than half, or their bodies, could be found in Florida.
With 315,819,634 of us not missing, it doesn't seem that bad actually.
I had an uncle who took off and disappeared. After my grandfather died uncle pitched a fit because no money was left for his bastard children (who he never supported anyway). He was a total fuck up and quite honestly, the whole family is pleased we dont have to deal with him anymore.
Kids snatched by non custodial parents and people like crazy lady in PA who just take off for whatever reason
I do have a cousin who is still a Vietnam draft dodger. He lives in Florida under a different (but stupidly similar) name. He's kind of a motorcylcle gang-type, huge with a ZZ Top beard. He's married, so I think she brings home the bacon. But he does off the books type things for cash, like selling his own honey; car repairs... Of course he doesn't pay taxes.
R5 President Carter pardoned all the draft dodgers over 30 years ago. Your cousin (who really hasn't disappeared as you know where he is and what he does and looks like) probably is a fugitive from the law. You should find out if there is a reward for his capture and if so, turn him in.
You made me laugh R6.
They broke this down on Maddow. 90% of the people reported missing are either not really missing or are runaways. 5% is family abduction. 3% something I can't remember and 2% are actual kidnappings.
But wouldn't the minute you applied for a job, driver's license, etc. be your undoing- if you were hiding? So you're a runaway: are you working at McDonalds or buried in a shallow grave?
OP, if you're serious, there are several reasons for the large number of human disappearances that occur each year.
About 900,000 missing person cases are reported annually in the United States. About 500,000 are never found. And the actual number of disappearances is higher, because it doesn't include people who are already living out of the network, such as the homeless (who are heavily targeted).
A fairly small number - about 25,000 - are taken by serial killers. The active and successful serial killers - and the surprisingly successful thrill/hunt murder organizations out there - are rather efficient, more so than realized. The better psychopaths each take from 4 to 100 per year. Some of the organizations will go through 5 to 40 per month, either through hunts or torture sessions for the group. These include a few - not many - illicit gourmet groups committed to enjoying the potentials of human meat. These are not the crazed cannibals from movies - they are connoisseurs in a very old, secret tradition. A lot of children go to this purpose - tender and fresh, apparently, compared to man mutton.
A much smaller number are taken by professional criminals, for revenge, warning, payment. This accounts for only 7,500 or so, but watch for huge increases if the Mexican-style activity spreads north.
About 30% of the total drop out of sight on their own. They take other identities, run away, leave it all behind. This group is having a harder time, because of the extensive expansion of surveillance and databasing. Many are now found eventually who formerly would have stayed unlocated.
About 30% are taken for harvesting. This is more difficult, because the healthy are preferred among the higher-end organizations, and the disappearance of healthy people tends to get noticed, because they usually have families and friends. However, the low-end, international organ-sale groups will use just about anyone, and they do sweeps from city to city, careful to avoid patterning identification.
And most of the rest are collected for various research purposes. Many are shipped out of the country - it would threaten the system if anything ever was discovered that started to pull the thread in the fabric of the system. But some domestic facilities exist, under deep cover. None of this is official government business. But it is huge, with about a billion a year in funding from various private and international sources. Life-extension, elite medical research, weapons testing with both munitions and bio/chem, DNA/genetic work, human-animal crossbreeding are among the primary foci.
And in the last category there also are hints - I'm not privy to details and don't dare ask the right people about it - that some partnership with "unidentified colleagues" is involved. There is talk of a treaty that includes collection of humans for research purposes, in exchange for the appearance of continued autonomy and independence.
So, OP, do you really want to know?
Penelope Milford. (she got the role I was offered in Coming Home but I was busy and couldn't take it.)
[quote]But wouldn't the minute you applied for a job, driver's license, etc. be your undoing
Not if you stole someone's identity.
R10. your post creeped me out. Where did you get this information? YOU creep me out, to be honest.
r10 - what is your source for this information.
r10 - another question, why haven't they taken Lyndsay?
For anyone who believes what R10 wrote: I have a bridge for sale in Brooklyn. Priced to sell. Please contact me if interested.
R15 Like anyone would want to harvest her organs. She probably wouldn't be any fun to hunt either.
r10 literally wears a tin hat.
[quote]The better psychopaths each take from 4 to 100 per year.
One must only do business with the better psychopaths.
Yes, the topic is creepy, but don't blame the messenger. Take or leave the information I offered - it's nothing to me. You think I'm unaware of how absurd the latter part sounds? (By the way, if you saw the statistics for disappearances in Russia, you'd likely shit yourselves - Putin's cut more deals than you can imagine.)
But be aware of your surroundings if out alone late at night, as many of the people here fit the "expendable/convenient category for targeting. Except R16 and R18, who can go ahead and position themselves for collection as a matter of public service, although the condition of their livers probably lessens their risk a bit.
R14, I work for an NSA contractor, and happily have ways to post securely and anonymously to avoid any backlash.
More details, R10?
[quote] many of the people here fit the expendable/convenient category for targeting
R10, your post at R21 answered my question of where you get your info. I have to say that several paragraphs scared the crap out of me. Do you have any demographic info and a few tips about how to avoid being one of the chosen?
I'm going to guess r10 doesn't believe we actually landed on the moon either.
Makes sense to me, R25, and I'm not into conspiracies. Soldiers bred with animals for speed, superior vision, or hunting instinct, for example. Keep in mind that just because they're doing research doesn't mean that they've made significant progress. It just means that, like Karl Rove, they've found deep pockets to fund their madness.
It's known that humans and chimps can likely produce viable (if not fertile) offspring. It's science's dirty little secret. If you go digging online there is tons of proof and some photos.
R27 Well, if its on the internet, then it must be true. By the way, did you know the word gullible is not in the dictionary?
Ah but the word denial is, R28. Read up on the science. It's the same as a horse and a donkey producing a mule. No difference. In fact no scientist denies that it is possible - it's just sort of a taboo subject that they try not to mention too much because of all the ethics problems with it.
The stench of crazy is all over this thread.
r10 refers to "treaties" with aliens, no?
Right, which makes him crazier than a bedbug.
I love R10. Tell us more, please. I'm serious.
One of the California government offices has photos you can view of unknown people in the morgue before burial. Internet sleuths have cracked a few cases.
also, trolldar r66 on the rachel maddow thread, then come back into this thread for a further dose of cray-cray!
R10 you are a lying weirdo. There is literally no proof of any of the outlandish stuff you said. I guess that's how you entertain yourself, though.
R36, how do you know that?
R36, All he did was say it. No evidence given, no documentation, no legitimate news source, etc. But if somebody saying something is proof enough for you, then you should look into buying that bridge. There are brokers everywhere.
Because so many people have basements. What else are you going to do with it?
This thread should make you think a little harder about what the real effect is. There will be more and more of these extreme stories because there are more broken human beings. Let's say there were 10,000 when the world had 3 billion people, and there are 25,000 now. Instead of an awful incident being revealed, say, once a week, now it happens every couple of days. The effect of a single "mistake" of one human being is magnified tremendously.
This is what we will live with. Oh, and add to that the complete overhaul of societal norms in the course of one generation and the effect of millions upon millions of single, wifeless, hopeless, angry young men.
Find a cave.
I know a "hit man"; and he has killed at least a dozen people who were reported missing.
Wives contracting on husbands, and vice versa.
Who the hell knows what's true and not with this shady stuff? It's interesting to hear about, as long as no final conclusions are made.
Are you kidding, R42? 'Cause this is a topic that really interests me; hit men, assassins. You'd be a fool to think they don't exist anymore in some forms, but the question is how are they organized? How many are they? Surely there can't be that many. And if they're so well hidden, how do angry wives get a hold of them?
R27, that looks nothing like a chimp.
It's a sculpture from an amusement park.
How common are hits on people? It seems like most people Tryng to hire one get caught by an undercover officer posing as a hit man.
R10 what about alien abductions? Are those happening as well?
Did Dick Cheney buy a new heart? I'd like to hear more about the hunting organizations. I have a feeling that is real ever since reading that story about it by O. Henry.
[quote]surprisingly successful thrill/hunt murder organizations out there.
WTF is that? Seriously, it sounds scary.
Human hunting is a quasi-urban legend, where certain people hunt and kill humans for the purpose of pleasure, entertainment, or sustenance.
Some science fiction writers depicted fictional future or alternate history tyrannical regimes where the hunting of humans for sport is institutionalised.
Numerous films have used the theme of human hunting as the basis or as a feature of their plot. The first film to ever feature it was the 1932 film The Most Dangerous Game, which is based on the Richard Edward Connell short story of the same name. Many movies have dealt with this, also TV shows.
On The Island DVD Michael Bay tells this crazy story he heard about some super rich Arab guy that has his own plane with a hospital in it. He's very old with a bad heart and travels with this young guy who goes shopping etc. the catch is that the young guy is an organ donor and when the old guy goes into cardiac arrest they will swap his heart with that of the young man. The question remains whether they guy knows he is a walking organ donor or just thinks he lives a life of luxury?
and more cray cray
Please go away, R25, 30, 32, 35, 41 and 49. You're boring us.
Some say the Atlanta child murders was a Saudi rich guy into harvesting.
Over 150,000 a year for "experiments"? Sounds wildly exaggerated.
Now 300,000 per year for fertilizer, that I could believe.
"But wouldn't the minute you applied for a job, driver's license, etc. be your undoing- if you were hiding? So you're a runaway: are you working at McDonalds or buried in a shallow grave?"
A lot of runaways turn to prostitution, sadly. Some are just drifters who panhandle.
Geez, where are you R10? Don't tell me--
"Take or leave the information I offered - it's nothing to me."
I'm pretty sure it's nothing for the rest of us, as well.
[quote]if you were hiding? So you're a runaway: are you working at McDonalds . . .
You either have to steal someone's id, apply for a new ID (with a birth certificate or immigration paperwork) or you can only work for cash.
That being said, I want to hear more about r10's info. My mom has said for years that people have been harvested for organs. I just ignored her but it wouldn't surprise me, either.
I know a guy who swears he has never had a social security number. He lives in an RV and only works for cash. He's a talented craftsman and his customers don't mind what they consider artistic eccentricity.
He uses his twin brother's driver's license and the vehicle is registered in his brother's name.
Because aliens in outer space are baking us. We're beeing cooked by them so we may be consumed. That's what explains global warming.
Missing persons are being plucked by the aliens to determine whether we're done so they may, so to speak, stick a fork in us.
There's no need to kill people to harvest organs. In Moldava, they'll sell you their own organs for $2000.
In high school we had one of those scared straight assemblies, with an officer talking to us about what happens to teenage runaways. He said most end up in prostitution and die, from murder, abuse and drug addiction. He said many are sold as sex slaves and kept in captivity. Others end up with film careers - illegal pornography and snuf films. He talked about one family's years long search to find their daughter only to find out she was killed in a snuff film. I remember he said the things he's seen still keep him awake at night and the only reason he can do his job is to keep kids safe. This was in an upper middle class, suburban white kids - didn't think we were a likely demographic, but who knows. Upper middle class kids can be just as vulnerable. Even more so now, since prescription pills and heroin are so easily available, so many kids are using it and ruining their lives.
Sometimes a person can be, well, disgusted with where the path in life has led to. That person longs for a change, the sort of change that can only happen if they just pick up and GO, no strings attached. So, they do just that, pick up and go. Sometimes it is the only way to change things.
Before computers, search engines and 9/11, it used to be much easier to create a new identity. Not so today.
There is a good book on how to disappear. I will post the title and author, if anyone's interested.
Next time there is a missing person or murder, notice if it is near an occult holiday. I am not saying all people into Wicca, the occult and so forth are murderers. Just notice this. See if you draw the same conclusion. And please, don't conclude that all in the occult or Wicca are involved.
Go for it, R66. I'm curious.
R68, "How To Disappear", by Frank Ahearn.
A lot of them are runaways. Shitty parents do exist, OP.
I work in public health in Appalachia. Believe me there are thousands of throw away kids from terrible family situations that run away to find something better. With no education or life skills, they are easy prey. I assume some of them end up victims of foul play of some kind.
Oh look, someone else stuck in my butt cheeks. And this one is stuck real bad, gotta fart hard.
Anyone here heard of the 'Missing 411' topic with David Paulides? If not, prepare to have your mind blown. Stumbled upon this on youtube recently and think this topic is the goldmine for investigative weirdness. You'll be stunned by some of these creepy as hell missing people cases and the bizarre circumstances.
Here are 4 videos I've selected from many to get you started. First one is just 15 minutes, all 4 are three hours total. I've since listened to about a dozen shows on this online and am obsessed. These are all interviews, if you watch the first one you'll be hooked.
