How important are actors and actresses to society?
We are always talking about them, but exactly how important on a scale of 0 to 10 would you rate actors to society? Discuss.
Story tellers have always been an important part of the culture of any society. Though I would say talented directors/screenwriters are more important than actors that just bring to life someone else's imagination.
What a strange, high-school level question.
As important as a screen door on a submarine.
More important than suits, less important than writers.
Pioneer Lillian Gish said it best in her AFI Lifetime Achievement Award acceptance speech. She must have been quite the character.
If there were no actors, there would be suicide amongst Broadway theater queens whose entire existence depends on others believing that they know about an actor's life. So, to the queens, actors are their salvation.

Would you accept fractions?
it depends on the actor
OP I think you mean "celebrities" as opposed to "actors." Celebrities are actually very important to our society, they have an important sociological function, otherwise they would not be "famous."
All cultures throughout history have had storytellers. It is an integral part of human existence.
Are the Kardashians an important part of this? No. Is Meryl? Yes.
Just use some common sense, OP.
We tell people how to eat and live. We are a vital part of the ecosystem.
Much, much less important than they think they are.
