The song is classic '80s Eurodisco cheese (and very catchy), but what do the lyrics mean? Aren't almost ALL rooms square rooms?
He has no one to talk to alone in his room. The end is clearly using Carly Simon's images from some album of his. He dated Simon. She must have dumped him and stopped sending the checks.
If you happen to own this CD, hang onto it or sell it for a profit. It's long out of print and goes for $50-100 on the second-hand market.
His followup, "Cold Dresses" (why???), was a hit in France but didn't even register in America.
The video is pretty funny -- Al is in full New Romantic hair and makeup and his dancing is indescribable.
