Does anyone else find Peggy Olson/Elizabeth Moss REALLY hard to look at?
She looks like the love child of Rodney Dangerfield and a hard-boiled egg.
More so with every season.
Her outdated hair and frumpy clothes don't help, either, and I really don't buy her as the female version of Don.
Sometimes she looks pretty, sometimes meh, but I don't think she's ugly. I love how she plays Peggy.
Most of the men are hard to look at, too. So, no, not really.
I think she's one of the coolest characters on there.
I thought she was really pretty on West Wing, but I have never found her attractive on Mad Men.
She is NOT pretty, but she's a terrific actress.
I don't find her hard to look at, but she is unbelievably dull. Her storylines are a waste of time.
that whole show is too boring to watch
Is it true she a Scientologist?
At least she got rid of that flaccid dick ponytail.
I recently watched Top of the Lake. Moss has interesting looks; she is sometimes quite striking and sometimes quite plain. It didn't really matter because she really can act and that's all I care about.
she is visual disquieting
Yes, Elisabeth Moss is a Scientologist.
She looked the best she ever did in Girl, Interrupted.
She is quite beautiful in some scenes in TOP OF THE LAKE. That cinematographer understood how to light her. Also, Campion told Moss to lower her voice which added to her sexiness.
I thought she was very Jodie Foster-ish in the show. In a good way.
She looks like an egg!
Not pretty and they cast her as a Norwegian!
I didn't until I realized.
She looks like Gillian Anderson's gawky little sister.
She looks a bit like Linda Evangelista sometimes.
... in egg form!
R21 - she and Gillian could play relatives.
Evangelista's wide spaced, almost buggy eyes and penis nose. Linda's nose ruined her. If she was short, she'd be the okay looking girl with interesting eyes. Still, anyone is better than Peggy. It's like she looks like she would have a retarded kid. Her cheekbones are set so low. Proof Weiner grew up in a middle class Jewish community who just doesn't get "white' people.
too much titty. makes her look cowish. and her acting isn't that compelling.
She's horrible. So hard on the eyes.
R26 - Are you thinking of Christina Hendricks who plays Joan.?
Elisabeth isn't lacking in boobs, but she's not huge there either.
R25- Retarded kid? Weiner remark? Do you get "dreck" people such as yourself?
I've always thought she looks like a nutcracker.
More like a soft boiled egg.
r29 - Yes, r25 is an idiot, but what are "dreck" people?
She's hard to watch. I don't get the Peggy love some viewers have. She's plain in hair and dress. Mousey and timid. I know she's supposed to be the gawky secretary who works herself up the Madison Ave ladder. Her vocal delivery is odd sometimes w/ her mouth open and tongue trying to get words out slowly. If Don EVER sleeps w/ her, drunken or sober, I will retch.
R33 - She's no longer mousey and timid.
r34 - She is still awkward and frumpy. It's impossible to buy her as an ad exec.
She is cute but is not pretty. Good actress though.
She played that girl who had the burned face in 'Girl, Interrupted'
She's ugly but not as ugly as that fat facer Tiffani Amber Thiessen.
I don't find her attractive at all. Having said that, I don't think she's hard to look at.
Christ, it's not like she's that Lens Dunham creature.
Does anyone else think that in another 10-15 years Tiffani Amber Thiessen will look like that woman from Dance Moms?
She's like a beautiful Cubist painting.
She's still a Scientologist, so that's a deal breaker.
"that whole show is too boring to watch"
I don't find it boring, but the producers have cleverly devised a way to create an entire series of people walking into and out of rooms, and taking off their coats. And putting them back on.
I thought she was pretty in West Wing. And the first 1-2 seasons of Mad Men. Once they gave her this current frumpy hairstyle:forget it. ONLY time I think she's looked good on MM is last season when she had quite the sexy dress on, to titillate the Kevin Rahm character (and it worked!)
What is that thing next to her wearing? Elisabeth looks like a goddess next to it.
Moss was NOT pretty in her first 'look' as Peggy. Once she ditched that thin pony tail (on Joan's advice, natch) she looked much better. She needs a hairstyle that hides her face.
R48. What she really needs is a paper bag to put over that face!
I think she looks pretty good. I think she is a great actress and perfect for the part. One thing that makes Mad Men so compelling is that it has a mix of people of varying levels of attractiveness. Peggy Olson is not a 10 ... but she is attractive enough. A steady stream of men are interested in her and all the relationships are believable.
I sense that next season Trudy will be brought back into the mix. She is obviously an extremely likable character.
Those big 60s bouffants were not flattering at all, they had an aging effect. I look through my parents' yearbooks from the 60s and those 18 year-old girls looked downright matronly with those hairdos.
[quote]If Don EVER sleeps w/ her, drunken or sober, I will retch.
I will too. She can do WAY better than him.
"Oh my God. I'm back. I'm home. All the time, it was... We finally really did it ... You Maniacs! You blew it up! Ah, damn you! God damn you all to hell!"
We are switching to the new platform for The DataLounge this weekend. All of our mobile users have been using it for over a week and all first time users have been using it for about a month - which adds up to well over one million users. So we're ready to end this phase of the testing and move everybody to the new site. (more)
And yes, we've changed the look and some of how it operates.
Yes, we know you just *hate* it in well in advance.
Yes, we know we suck.
Yes, we are the biggest suckers that ever sucked.
But it was time for a change and with the huge shift to mobile it was long overdue. We've taken this opportunity not only to update the look but also make major changes under the hood (or "bonnet" if you're either British or pretentious or both). And we have to prepare for 2016 - a presidential election year where we can normally expect to see a 60% jump in traffic (yes, we've seen 5 presidential elections so far…Christ we're old).
The site has a bunch - nay, plethora - of new features which will make the site more usable: better search, the ability to ignore posters and threads, see link previews, to pick up a thread where you left off, spam and malware filtering and more.
If you want you can go explore and see for yourself, Click here.
And while running the tests we've noticed two interesting reactions to the new system - people are spending more time on the site and more people that come stay around longer and look at more stuff. Both good things. Yay!
Possibly we've not slain all the dragons and there will be issues that come up during the switchover. There's a help button in the lower right hand corner of the page which you can use to send us bug reports.
Please include as much information about the hardware (PC, Mac, Tablet, Phone etc), operating system (Windows, Mac OS, Android, iOS etc) and browser (Chrome, Safari, Opera, Internet Explorer etc) that you are using as possible to help us replicate and fix the problem.
Please note that complaints about colors, fonts, icons and the like are not "bugs" - they are design choices that we've made and we expect one or two cases of world-class bitching. But they won't actually cause headaches, scurvy, heart attacks, Restless Leg Syndrome, Morgellon's Disease or the vapors (but have your smelling salts at hand just in case).
Talking to DataLounge servers. Please wait a moment...
