Widescreen Television Have Anything To Do With 1080i, 720p?
Does the resolution have anything to do with why we switched over to widescreen television? We're seeing more picture in panoramic terms, right? Are we missing the top and bottom of the picture now because of it? I remember watching television in 420p about 6 years ago on my old television. Sorry if this bores anyone. I was just fidgeting with my set, which made me curious about this.
720P and 1080i are inherently widescreen formats. The TV station can make your TV display either 4:3 (old) or 16:9 (wide) by pushing a button at their end. Even 480i (old format) can be made to display widescreen if they want to. I wouldn't worry none. It's just voodoo and electrons.
1080 is full HD, 720 is HD Ready. At least that's what I thought. You get similar numbers on your cpmputer monitor depending on how widescreen is it, I guess.
I see the boom mics on widescreen now when the show was 480i and the picture is stretched.
