Pelosi Best Known, Least Liked of Congressional Leaders
The top Republican and Democratic leaders in the U.S. House and Senate are a generally unpopular foursome, with Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi being the most well-known, but also the least well-liked. Thirty-one percent of Americans view Pelosi favorably and 48% unfavorably. Her resulting net -17 image score compares with -11 for Democratic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, -10 for Republican Speaker of the House John Boehner, and -8 for Republican Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.
Is her look of surprise from the news or just from her plastic surgery?
Pelosi's infamous "Impeachment is off the table," sent the Dems down the tubes. The Dems controlled Congress (in name) yet under Pelosi, they just kept enabling Bush-Cheney through the rest of the term of those war criminals.
Or, R1, maybe most Americans simply think she is incompetent.
What did she mean that they had to pass the bill to learn what was in it?
Well, put me in the 31% of Americans who view her favorably. She's about as liberal as they come when it comes to a who's who of any issue. You can always count on her to stand up for the left, even if she does present a gaffe every once in a while.
The only reason her unfavorable numbers are in the toilet is because of the punching bag she has become by the right-wingers, and the fact that she is often presented as a extremist left-winger who is incompetent and in over her head.
She is a the very definition of a cunt. You have to pass the bill to see what's in it. If any conservative said that you cunts would have staged a fey mutiny.
You're right R2. Americans simply think she is incompetent. They never considered the fact that she enabled Bush-Cheney to have a free ride for the final two years of their administration. All Americans ignored that and simply think she is incompetent. No need to have anything to back up that consideration.
Nancy Pelosi is historically one of the most productive, and effective Speakers in modern history. The haters have zero idea what they are talking about when they use the word "incompetent"! She might not be their ideological cup of tea,, but she was a very competent Speaker.
One poll? And it's Gallup?
You're an idiot OP. And pathetic, as troll-dar so vividly confirms.
People thought I was on the blink when I was speaker. So I never did.
Really, you pathetic spamming wingnut bitch?
You [bold]REALLY[/bold] want to start comparing Pelosi's performance to John "Whiny Orange Bitch" Boehner?
Pelosi passed 400 bills through the House, most of which died in the filibustered Senate. Boehner forgot to swear in the entire House when he started!
Please, fill us in on the astonishing array of accomplishments of the present House "leadership".
Nancy Pelosi is historically one of the most productive, and effective Speakers in modern history. The haters have zero idea what they are talking about when they use the word "incompetent"! She might not be their ideological cup of tea,, but she was a very competent Speaker.
Nancy Pelosi can't even begin to hold a candle to House Speakers Tip O'Neill and John McCormack. The only thing to be said in her favor is that she wasn't as bad as Boehner.
As far as your claim that "haters have zero idea..." that's a laugh coming from a hate-mongering moron who's too stupid to know the difference between "dislike" and "hate." That meme gets a lot of use at DL with hate spreaders like R7 who litter the forum with their hate accusations.
r11, she passed more liberal legislation than any of them.
Why are we discussing the Congresswoman who is no longer Speaker of the House? And why aren't we discussing the 4-year-long pigfucking session of leadership by House Speaker John Boehner?
Pelosi passed 400 bills through the House, most of which died in the filibustered Senate.
So the number of bills passed is an indication of a politician's effectiveness? You poor, naive child.
So the number of bills passed is an indication of a politician's effectiveness? You poor, naive child.
I'm sorry, I completely forgot. A leader's effectiveness is judged completely by how much lobbying money they can suck up.
The point of Congress is to pass laws that benefit Americans. Why is that too hard for your tiny little brain to comprehend?
It's the fact that Republicans hate more than Democrats. Also, sexism.
I doubt the poll is skewed by Republicans who hate Nancy. She is the figure they love to beat on despite the fact that they don't really know how effective she has been. Most of them think she's the anti-Christ.
Boehner has not been able to keep the Congressional GOP in consensus. He has been able to keep the Tea Faction in check. He has been the most ineffective leader of the House. Rachel Maddow has an ongoing segment called "John Boehner is bad at his job."
People like r1 shouldn't be taken seriously. After 8 years, the country needed to move on. By late 2008, the economy was collapsing. If you want the country to be mired in a messy impeachment process when we had just elected the first black President and there was so much to clean up, then you're a selfish prick who only wants revenge and not what's in the best interest of the country.
R4 gets it right.
The statement about passing the bill to see what's it in, should be on her tombstone.
She is well known because Republicans try to slam her at least once a week for this or that. If you asked people what her positions are on any issue, you will get vague or non-committal answers, because the Republican game is character assassination, not policy disagreement.
Maybe with context, your pee-brain would understand what she was getting at r19.
I swear, wingnuts are mentally ill...
[bold]Mark Sanford Debates Cutout of U.S. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi[/bold]
Her event followed a morning press conference where Sanford “debated” a poster of House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi today as a means of calling out Colbert Busch for not debating him in the 1st Congressional District race.
“You can be all things to all people if you haven't said where you are on the issues,” Sanford said today in front of the Medical University of South Carolina.
The press conference was similar to the showing Clint Eastwood did at the Republican National Convention, when he debated an empty stool meant to depict President Barack Obama.
Democrat Colbert Busch's campaign issued a response afterward, calling the event part of Sanford's “desperate campaign to deceive voters.”
The point of Congress is to pass laws that benefit Americans. Why is that too hard for your tiny little brain to comprehend?
You've got that right r15. DOMA really was a great benefit to all Americans. The Patriot Act was well thought out and eliminated as soon as Congress realized how it harms our freedoms. Of course there are the wonderful years of job protection for all Americans which ensures gays can't be fired just for being gay. We're so lucky to have a Congress that looks out for the welfare of all Americans. Just count the huge number of bills they've passed and that proves they love us.
Sooooo, R23: DOMA sucked, so it's bad if Congress passes bills? DOMA is representative of all the bills Pelosi passed in her time in Congress?
Logic isn't your strong suit, is it cupcake?
Funny that the wingnuts are so upset about Obamacare. Congress has made [bold]FORTY[/bold] unsuccessful attempts to repeal Obamacare in the past two years.
Is this what counts as leadership?
so it's bad if Congress passes bills?
Yes, that's EXACTLY what we're saying. Your brilliance is astounding, snookums. (rolls eyes)
I am the 31%, I think that she is pretty terrific.
Yes, that's EXACTLY what we're saying. Your brilliance is astounding, snookums. (rolls eyes)
Hey, I'm not the idiot who's obsessed with fighting congressional battles from 2006.
I mean you do know she's no longer Speaker of the House, right?
I see the freepfucks are out today, filling threads on Pelosi and Barney Frank with their impotent, rethuglican bilge.
I see the freepfucks are out today, filling threads on Pelosi and Barney Frank with their impotent, rethuglican bilge.
You're right on target r29, because no Democrat would ever criticize Pelosi for totally bowing down to Bush and Cheney for the final two years of their administration. Therefore it must be a Freeper invastion. So good of you to notice. Why would a Democrat even notice the free pass she gave to those war mongers? Democrats always think ALL Democrats are perfect, just like you R29. You're a perfect Democrat. We need more of you in the party. (rolls eyes)
I am not a Democrat, though I usually vote Democrat. I have also voted Green Party. I am a strategic voter who votes for the most left-wing candidate on the ballot. Sorry that I don't fit your little "good dem" fantasy, you Republican jerk.
I'm so sorry, R31. I had no idea you thought the Green Party was a viable political option in the US. You have my deepest sympathies.
Meanwhile, back here on planet Earth...IMHO Pelosi did a good job, given the circumstances. It would be nice these days to have a representative government that actually did the will of the people. But to throw shit at Pelosi because she wasn't able to fulill your drug-fueled Green fantasies...that's just bizarre.
Gallup Polls are a joke. I don't know how they can get away with saying such and such a percentage of Americans feel "what ever".
I will always remember them predicting President Obama's loss in the last election. Speaking of Obama, Does anyone know what he's been doing since he lost the election?
Dude, did you miss the part where I said I voted strategically? If it is a choice between a Democrat, a Green Party candidate and a Republican, I vote Democrat.
I don't split the vote when there is the risk of a right-wing candidate getting in (although I'm sure you'd love me to). I voted Gore in 2000.
Thanks for your stereotyping as well - I don't take drugs.
Gallup polls skew Republican by at least 5-points. They're a joke.
R32, I am also not the one throwing shit at Pelosi - I like her - I urge to trolldar me.
PS - Ironically, R32, even though you got me mixed up with someone else on this thread, and told me I was a drug addict Green voter, I actually agree with what you've been posting on this thread - which, by the way, I still think is a freeper post to cause dissent and tear down Pelosi.
The DINOs in Congress got a big wake-up call the past two weeks. Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz and Senator Michael Bennet got a strong and blunt notice that more than 20,000 Democrats pledged their names and dollars to defeat the four Democrats in the Coward Caucus who are owned by the NRA.
The Democratic leaders got the message loud and clear and obviously passed it on. Baucus of Montana saw the message and already announced that he's not running.
DINOs like Pelosi will be gone if they don't heed the views of the real Democrats.
"Do you hear the people sing?"
You REALLY want to start comparing Pelosi's performance to John "Whiny Orange Bitch" Boehner?
The data presented was a POLL.
Definition: A survey of the public or of a sample of public opinion to acquire information.
Of course, an alternative definition of poll seems to describe your brain: The blunt or broad end of a tool such as a hammer or ax.
Pelosi passed 400 bills through the House, most of which died in the filibustered Senate
Harry Reid must be the worst ever based on this definition of success. Independent of any filibustering activity, Harry seldom allows a bill to the floor.
You're delusional r38.
Right R40. It was all made up. Nobody complained about those four senators. Everyone is thrilled with their votes against gun restrictions. Baucus didn't announced that he's not running. All delusional, R40. Please don't stop posting. We need people with your intelligence to keep things factual.
Yeah, let's primary Pryor in 2014 and let a repug waltz right in.
Maybe with context, your pee-brain would understand what she was getting at [R19].
What was the context? This time without the name-calling.
r41 has no fucking clue about red states and how much they value their guns.
Run an anti gun Dem in somewhat purple Montana and just see how far he/she gets! He won't even get out of the fucking Dem primary.
Who will? A conservative Dem, that's who!
Same Baucus, different name.
DINOs like Pelosi...
HUH? DINO, Pelosi!? it's the first I've heard of it! You do realize that the only gun vote held was stopped in the Senate, and Nancy Pelosi is not a Senator.
I used to think my next occupation was going to be starting a cult in Utah. The people there seem to just need a leader to follow without question. After watching a few threads on DL I've decided to expand my scope. If I could find the right cult to target voters who identify as Democrat I would have a national audience. The Dems already have you trained to never question any of them so 50% of my work would be done.
R41 has no fucking clue about red states and how much they value their guns.
R44 has no fucking clue about how many people in red states want gun control. 79% of Montana's voters support background checks, but R44 doesn't have the intelligence to move beyond calling it a red state.
Montana's senator, got that message and announced his retirement but R44 can't comprehend that fact.
R44 is indicative of the ignorant fucktards who mouth the Pubbie memes and never look at facts. People like that should not ever be allowed to vote.
Coming Attractions: The downfall of Democratic Senator Pryor of Arkansas.
84% of Arkansas voters support background checks, but Sen. Pryor, like R44, is too stupid to know what the people want.
DINOs in Washington are going to listen to the real Democrats or be gone. Pelosi needs to wake up, too.
DINO, Pelosi!? it's the first I've heard of it! You do realize that the only gun vote held was stopped in the Senate, and Nancy Pelosi is not a Senator.
You do know that there are DINOs in both houses of Congress? Pelosi, topic of this thread, is surely looking at the reactions of people to the 4 cowards in the Senate who are getting their marching orders from the people.
She is an idiot and the worst thing that has happened to the democrats in many many many years.
