Michael Buble - Jesus Christ, what a dork! He manages to sell albums?
I'm home sick today watching a L&O SVU marathon. On comes a commercial with a chunky, awkward- looking guy trying to look cool dressed retro, singing an awful song, and worse, attempting to dance. I thought it was a joke commercial of some kind, but no, it's a Target commercial for Michael Buble's latest album. I only know of him through DL. I'm shocked that he's some kind of a major recording artist. How?
He's a nice guy for keeping the FrankSinatra-Tony Bennett thing alive and he has more personality than Michael Feinstein but he's less of a stud than Harry Connick JR.
I watched some of a concert of his on tv once and it seemed like he was always on the verge of cracking up. So corny and odd.
He has a quick Wit and a surprisingly interesting personality as I Have seen on display after several appearances on The Graham Norton show over a window of a few years . . .
He sings on pitch and doesn't need Autotune. He'll never sing a duet with Taylor Swift.
He's the ultimate wet dream for fraus everywhere. Basically, a Canadian casino act who middle aged women find inexplicably attractive.
There's a nude pic of him floating around the internet. Apparently he's a big stoner and junk food junkie, the photo shows him crashed on his bed with a bloated belly and an ass that managed to be both sunken and fat at the same time. He sounds better recorded than live.
I'm a middle aged straight woman and I can't stand this guy. He has a shitty voice and is a Sinatra wannabe and yet he sells out concerts, sells tons of CDs and gets Grammy nominations.
And he's fugly!
I don't fucking get it at all!
OP, you judged the singer by one single commercial. Well-respected and well-known people in the music industry has high praises for Buble, David Foster for instance. Do a little research and you will find out what little you know. Just the same, you will not like it when people judge you by one single post.
Thanks R12. See what I mean, it's both fat and sunken with weird feminine hips. That's the longest ass crack I've ever seen. I see him now and all I can think of this picture.
Who the fuck cares what he LOOKS like? He's a SINGER.
Oh, yah, I forgot.
In America we think Beyonce is the new Maria Callas, BECUZZA DAT ASS!
Amen to not caring what he looks like, really, but he doesn't do much with what he has, meaning he doesn't project a stage presence I like much. Bland.
In singing he's slick and precise, but rather derivative. I can listen to him but he's not someone I can "hear." It's like he's imitating best practices of other people. Not that that's all bad - he's more like an old-fashioned band singer than a stand-alone talent. Like a PBS-fundraiser talent.
BUT it's his "sleeping" body and ass that got out, so if people comment on what his chubby round globules look like, it's his responsibility. Frank would have put a hit on the person leaking the pics.
I was dragged to one of his concerts a few years ago - reluctantly, I might add. I knew his some of his music, but only his standards. Let me tell you, he was fantastic. Not just his singing, but the way he interacted with the crowd was unlike any concert I've been to before. At the conclusion of the concert he sang a final song sans microphone and projected to the back of the arena. Whoever posted that he'll never do a duet with Taylor Swift is right. He doesn't need autotune to sound good.
He does know how to sing. But he's fat and has carb face.
David Foster for instance.
Please. He's the biggest hack of them all.
He's scary huge in the UK, I also don't get it. His new single is a note for note copy of one of his recent last hits Just Haven't Met You Yet, I was wondering why this old song was back on the radio.
He is pretty mediocre for one of those big band singers, I mean Connick Jr was never considered cool or successful. His love life is more interesting and I liked his SNL skit with Jon Hamm which felt like a rat pack revival.
Rod Stewart croaks the same type of songs as Michael Buble, but Rod Stewart sounds like he's been taking voice lessons from Elaine Stritch. Buble has a smooth voice.
I agree. Rod Stewart has a godawful voice and with that rasp was the worst possible choice to do the American songbook. Have no idea why it was so successful.
I have 3 of Buble's c.d.'s. He has a great voice. He co-wrote this song, it's one of my favorites. Live from Abbey Road Studios in London:
Not a fan, but I did feel bad for him when Emily Blunt got engaged to John Krasinski so soon after her break up with Buble. I heard he was really in love with her and she totally broke his heart.
Those naked pictures don't look like him. The first is some blurry picture that could be anyone.
He can sing without autotune. He's a step up from most singers.
Phenomenal talent. Love him and his music.
I like his music, but yeah, he's a dork.
Did anyone see him on Chelsea Lately the other night? He came out doing this silly, nerdy walk (in an effort to be funny, I guess) and the interview was equally cringe-inducing. He has an alcohol problem and he's not nearly as funny as he thinks he is.
I heard he was really in love with her and she totally broke his heart.
Did she break his heart before or after he cheated on her with numerous other women?
There will always be a market for schmaltz. Some people just dont want to be challenged.
He is the printed circuit version of Frank Sinatra. Perfect for our vapid, shallow, multi tasking times.
Call me flyover, but he's just too edgy for me.
I don't get this album cover:
I agree with Steve (R7).
He's a blast on Graham Norton. Very clever and quick, and that is what makes him sexy.
I wish he's do an album of all original stuff and less covers.
He has a quick Wit and a surprisingly interesting personality as I Have seen on display after several appearances on The Graham Norton show over a window of a few years . . .
Agree with R7. I wouldn't walk into the next room to hear him sing, but in interviews he can be surprisingly funny and quick and self-effacing.
His phrasing gets on my nerves.
Michael Buble was a guest on the Glenn Beck Show. That's all I need to know.
So what? He's always been a huge supporter of gay rights and marriage equality. I am sure his PR firm signed him to appear, he's everywhere promoting his album on Fox on the BBC, NBC....
I really liked him until I spent $15 on his shitty Christmas CD. What a disappointment.
Buble's fans are 49% straight women, 50% gay guys and 1% straight men and he and his marketing people know it. We are his gravy train...
BTW loved that Christmas album and I could care less what you think of it...
He's a Harry Connick Jr wanna be. And HCJr is a Frank Sinatra wanna be.
I'm a lez who likes a lot of his songs. He's cute, too. Although his personality is grating to me, seems like he has a huge ego and can't ever contain it.
R9 nailed it.
Buble is a funny, self-deprecating person but a dreadful performer. The recording companies also tried to mold Connick in the Sinatra mode but the force of his N'awlins persona and terrific talent blew that apart. Buble's gifts, on the other hand, are mild, to say the least.
His style may not be startlingly original but there is a huge untapped market out there of people crying out for songs with actual melodies and harmonies. He is also extremely charismatic and effective in concert. But dorky, yes.
Michael Buble, Josh Groban and Russell Watson appeal to the over fifty, PBS pledge drive set.
I love love love love his Christmas album.
I also adore this version he did of Ave Maria. It's so full of restrained emotion and warmth.
I bought his Christmas album and another one, he is fine singer and you must obviously be an asshole, OP.
He sells his music because he is an great singer in command of his gift. Better than Frank !!
Anybody who thinks Buble is better than Sinatra is just, well, dumb. It's fine if you like him, but don't say that a mediocre artist is better than a great one. It makes you sound stupid.
He sells his music because he is an great singer in command of his gift. Better than Frank !!
Shouldn't you be on iVillage trading potato salad recipes instead?
Homely friend of Dorothy.
Those nude pics (assuming they're even of him) were obviously taken by an ex or someone with the sole intention of selling them. That's a pretty dick move.
Michael Buble is as straight as an arrow.
Much better voice than Harry Connick Jr.
He is a crooner, a throwback to those singers, and he is good. He does not need autotune.
I find it offensive to even talk about singers needing autotune, but I guess that is how bad things have gottne in popular music.
She’s Got Him By The Bubles… Crooner Michael Buble Caught In X-Rated Sex Snaps Shock
Clean-cut Canadian crooner Michael Buble grins broadly as a woman slips her hand inside his trousers during a wild night out… before he became a global superstar.
The raunchy photos – taken in 2000 and obtained exclusively by RadarOnline.com — were snapped during a raucous evening of partying and are a far cry from Buble’s current status as a happily married new father.
Holding a cigarette in one hand, 38-year-old Buble chuckles cheekily as the woman slides her fingers through his zipper.

In another X-rated shot, the three-time Grammy Award-winner is posing provocatively between the woman’s legs as two of his friends focus their attention on the her exposed breasts.
Another image shows the “Come Fly With Me” performer with his face buried in her cleavage.
A friend told how cheering pals encouraged the singer to get his hands on the shapely beauty after a booze cruise in the Canadian city of Vancouver.
PHOTOS: 10 Stars Involved In Nude Photo Scandals
The source recalled the orgiastic sex party, telling Radar: “Michael had split with a girlfriend a few months earlier and he went on a bit of a tear-up. He was nursing a broken heart.
“When we returned to this apartment things got out of hand. It stunned all of us at the time but then we started laughing. There was a lot of whistling and hooting.”
Said the witness: “There was no shame about it. Everyone even allowed photos to be taken!”
Buble — now married — has since become one of the world’s best-selling artists thanks to his brand of big band music.
He became a proud dad last month when his Argentinian model wife Luisana Lopilato, 26, gave birth to their son Noah.

Bizarrely, Buble was snapped with a mini padlock on his fly as he stepped out in New York earlier this month — and later joked he was keeping his family jewels under lock and key because of his wife.
Joking about that stunt — it led to veteran television icon Barbara Walters, 83, declaring she wanted the key to Buble’s pants — the pal said: “Clearly his genitals have not always been under lock and key!”
“These photos are the exact opposite of the image that he has portrayed publicly for years,” the pal added.
“Michael has always been a ladies’ man. Prior to getting married to Luisana, he even dated a couple of strippers!”
PHOTOS: Stars’ Most Embarassing Moments
The star has previously admitted that he hated the image forced upon him by record bosses — and that he likes to party and smoke marijuana.
Buble once confessed: “I grew up in Vancouver, which has the best weed in the world. I don’t see anything wrong with relaxing with a joint.”
Soon after the racy photos were snapped, he managed to get his love life back on track, moving on to have relationships with singer and actress Debbie Timuss, Emily Blunt and Heather Fogarty, before marrying wife Luisana in 2011.
The friend told Radar: “I bet Michael has parked this memory in the back of his mind and hoped for years that [the photos] never emerged publicly.”
He's totally pro-gay so I'll give him a pass on any douchebagginess.
He's a nice drunk guy. Who cares what he does in his free time
Most housewives look at him and think, "He's rich and he's ugly, I might have a chance with him"
Many years ago he did a free benefit for a gay center in Vancouver BC, thanks Michael.
Mug hugger music.
My friend was a frequent visitor to his fan message board and use to converse regularly with his girlfriend Emily who was a big presence on his board. Everyone on the board loved Emily. Then Emily Blunt hit really big in the states and still continued on the board. Then Michael got caught cheating on Emily and she dumped him. So many of the fans on that board got pissed off at him cause Emily left that they dumped him too, including my friend!
Clay Aiken is much better. This is bootleg cellphone video. Listen through to the end.
Kind of trashy for someone to release that to Radar. Those pics were 13-14 yrs back. Kind of hot though to see the his friends triple-team the ho in the pic.
a Sinatra wannabe and yet he sells out concerts, sells tons of CDs and gets Grammy nominations. And he's fugly!
And we all know how Frank Sinatra was drop-dead gorgeous. That's so important when under consideration for a Grammy.
I'm a big fan of the old-school crooners, but Buble is lacking something...he's the cubic zirconia version of Sinatra. I don't like him.
I like his Christmas specials.
He harkens back to an earlier time.
I like him.
Why do people nowadays make such a big deal about pop singers being able to sing in tune?
I think the standards have really fallen over the years. Conservatories churn out legions of classically trained singers every year who can not only sing in tune, but also without the aid of a microphone for several hours and no one thinks that's anything extraordinary.
A real talent in the field of pop music is someone who has a great voice, who writes great music and lyrics and can play an instrument. Those people ARE rare.
I like his Christmas specials
Don't forget, the Kardashians are having a Christmas special this year. I can hardly wait to hear them sing like the King Sisters on their annual Christmas show.
r16 said it best. Isn't he also very right-wing? Anyone know?
Wow. I started this thread in the spring. Didn't realize it had grown past the first week.
He's no Christopher Cross
He's no P Diddy, that's for sure!
He is basically the personification of muzak. Zero musicianship at all, pleasant background noise at best.
There's always major talent like Chris Brown, Miley Cyrus, and Taylor Swift to fill the void left by Frank Sinatra, Rosemary Clooney, and Patsy Cline.
Christopher Cross. Really timely references you people have here.
It won't be long before he appears on PBS during pledge drive.
Sinatra couldn't sing for years - he should have given up performing but I guess he needed the money. Buble has done better than Sinatra, better than Crosby, his voice is better and he shows more respect to his fans. Maybe he isn't as original as you'd like, but neither Sinatra or Crosby had anything original to present in the last 40 years of either man's career.
R86, all the great singers are on PBS including Buble and Clay Aiken.
I think he's cute.
That's the point r84. To bring out someone totally forgotten.
It has to suck knowing that no matter what he does, Harry Connick will always do it a thousand times better.
He's got a great voice for that "crooner" genre. Last year he came out with a really terrific Christmas CD.
When you get to know him, you will find that he has a great deal of talent.
After seeing those photos of Buble with the groupie and his entourage, Led Zeppelin should thank their lucky stars there were no cell phone cameras back in the day.
Many years ago, an female acquaintance dated one of Zep's publicists, she was told to never ever bring a camera to any private Zeppelin event she attended with the boyfriend.
One time she actually went away on vacation with her boyfriend to a resort where they joined Bad Company and Zeppelin.
There weren't any groupies around, especially as the bands were with their wives and longtime live-in girlfriends, but the bands did not want photos of their family vacations to be be sold to music publications.
It was a different world back then, today, celebs can't even scratch their asses in public!
How old are you, R94?
I don't know if he's a freeper, but he appeared on Glenn Beck's show multiple times. Lending far-right Beck credibility like that is enough for me to hate him.
Michael Buble landed a very beautiful wife.
star in show business equals being able to land a gorgeous wife.
Michael Buble is now a dad, a fact that he is using to win sympathy from the Today Show's haustrau audience. He also has another Christmas special this week, on NBC (of course).
[bold][italic]I'm not surprised.
Not everything l--a---s----t-----s.[/italic][/bold]
"Oh my God. I'm back. I'm home. All the time, it was... We finally really did it ... You Maniacs! You blew it up! Ah, damn you! God damn you all to hell!"
We are switching to the new platform for The DataLounge this weekend. All of our mobile users have been using it for over a week and all first time users have been using it for about a month - which adds up to well over one million users. So we're ready to end this phase of the testing and move everybody to the new site. (more)
And yes, we've changed the look and some of how it operates.
Yes, we know you just *hate* it in well in advance.
Yes, we know we suck.
Yes, we are the biggest suckers that ever sucked.
But it was time for a change and with the huge shift to mobile it was long overdue. We've taken this opportunity not only to update the look but also make major changes under the hood (or "bonnet" if you're either British or pretentious or both). And we have to prepare for 2016 - a presidential election year where we can normally expect to see a 60% jump in traffic (yes, we've seen 5 presidential elections so far…Christ we're old).
The site has a bunch - nay, plethora - of new features which will make the site more usable: better search, the ability to ignore posters and threads, see link previews, to pick up a thread where you left off, spam and malware filtering and more.
If you want you can go explore and see for yourself, Click here.
And while running the tests we've noticed two interesting reactions to the new system - people are spending more time on the site and more people that come stay around longer and look at more stuff. Both good things. Yay!
Possibly we've not slain all the dragons and there will be issues that come up during the switchover. There's a help button in the lower right hand corner of the page which you can use to send us bug reports.
Please include as much information about the hardware (PC, Mac, Tablet, Phone etc), operating system (Windows, Mac OS, Android, iOS etc) and browser (Chrome, Safari, Opera, Internet Explorer etc) that you are using as possible to help us replicate and fix the problem.
Please note that complaints about colors, fonts, icons and the like are not "bugs" - they are design choices that we've made and we expect one or two cases of world-class bitching. But they won't actually cause headaches, scurvy, heart attacks, Restless Leg Syndrome, Morgellon's Disease or the vapors (but have your smelling salts at hand just in case).
Talking to DataLounge servers. Please wait a moment...
