I work in NYC (live in NJ), and people there do this all the time. They walk blindly out of stores, usually on their phone or texting, bumping into foot traffic. Then they give you a dirty look because you didn't (unjustly) yield to them. It comes down to their sense of entitlement, and I absolutely loathe them. Out of consideration for others, I always look before exiting a store to make sure no one is walking by. I don't understand why everyone else can't do this.
