My eighty year old father was visiting this weekend. I've seen a sharp decline in his demeanor over the past couple years (forgetfulness, body aches, etc.). He fell asleep sitting up on the couch and my cat crawled up and lay peacefully behind his head for a while. She's normally shy around strangers. Everyone thought it was cute.
Is your cat's name Oscar, OP?
Cat's do that. They will snuggle up close to a person who is approaching his expiration date. They do this because they can see the soul leaking out of the person and they feed off it. I'd be a bit careful around Miss Sissy Boodles the next few weeks as their strength is almost immeasurable after such feedings.
It could be worse. Your cat's name could be Bear.
Well considering your dad is 80 chances were already good...
Be careful. Cats eat people's souls.
No they don't. Cats comfort a dying person
Cats are also pretty tuned in to people feeling sick. My cats know when I'm sick and curl up on me, they've done it with friends too who only know them as standoffish and very are surprised when it happens.
