We Love Soaps just posted a story saying her health has taken a bad turn and she's in ICU. Corbin Bernsen, her son, posted a message on his Facebook page. He asked for thoughts and prayers.
Jam a hot iron up your stinky yeasty festering cunt and eat a hot bowl of microwaved shit harvested from syphilitic mongoloids with a case of food poisoning. Die in a grease fire.
I don't care so much about the old doll, though good luck to her, I just thought it was funny the 'has beens' squabbling for the part.
R2, are you looking for thread about how you feel when you go off your meds?
Doug Davidson will be assuming top billing once Jeanne passes on.
Are they going to recast Katherine when Jeanne rings down her curtain? Just curious.
Web casting not good enough for you, Erika?
The Young and the Restless
I guess she's been more sick than anyone thought. She was supposedly ill with the flu earlier this year but I suspect it's worse than was announced (as in, she has a more chronic or severe illness).
I do like her and hope she gets better soon. Her character, though, has sucked since they demolished the Jill/Katherine rivalry.
Jeanne's doing better. She had that absolute darling Australian at her bedside which must have helped.
I miss the old days when Katherine and Jill would insult the hell out of each other !
Jill once calling Mrs C. A 'dried up bag of bones' still makes me laugh!
Keep those insults coming in!
Brenda as Jill, 1987
"Tell me Kay - when are you finally going to die? When the government finds a safe place to bury your liver, I suppose."
Jess as Jill, 1998
"By the time I came into their lives - she was a monster, he couldn't stand to be in the same room as her. She was a falling down drunk and she reeked of booze and her tongue with rip your head off. I gave that man something he'd never had before. Love. And sex. Good healthy SEX with a SOBER, sweet smelling woman and it drove her SO MAD with jealously that she KILLED HIM! Did you know that? Did you know that she killed Phillip by driving him off a cliff while she was drunk?! Come on Katherine, tell you're guests about your glorious times in this house with Phillip!"
I love how that one story back in the early 70s informed everything with those 2 for 30 years, just like in real life.
Katherine, you old wrinked drunk!
R16, that was Bill Bell's writing.
He could take one event -- Kay driving off the cliff and killing Phillip -- and use it to propel decades of stories.
The two women fought over his son, then his grandson.
The writers today feel they have to make one thing happen right after the other, boom, bang, bing.
I think it's basic character writing, too. There was a clear picture of who these characters were and they used it to colour everything that happened thereafter.
Why Kay...you ARE looking worse than usual.
That thread had everything: aging soap stars, former L.A. Law performers, Lois Lane, and a couple of ex-Charlie's Angels.
I was really upset when Darlene Conley and Beverlee McKinsey died. It takes an enormous toll on the fanbase when these iconic women we plan our lives around to watch pass on. People are praying with every fibre of their being that Jeanne will be with us many more years to come. It is a really profound thing.
I can't but think that Kate Linder will be dropped to recurring if Jeanne passes on.
One more way for JFP to cut the budget.
R30 In all seriousness, I was too.
Esp. McKinsey. I've said this on other threads but she stands out for me among many.
When the NYTimes didn't run her obit a day or so after her death I emailed them. I don't know if I was the only one (I would assume there may have been others) but a day or so after I emailed, they did run a short obituary.
R33 you do know Bev was a very private person. Maybe she didn't want an Obit.
She had one in the LA Times R34. It wasn't a matter of her family not releasing one.
For the NYTimes it had been a number of years since she'd lived in NY. But she was there for 20+ years and headlined two shows made there (Another World and Guiding Light) so a New York paper should have listed her passing.
Hell, Beverlee McKinsey put the art into soap opera. There was never another. I wish somebody would erect a statue of her outside the old AW Brooklyn studios. As tasteless as the idea sounds, she deserved the moon.
I'm available, but will need to be helicoptered to the set every day. If you don't remember me, you will remember my billing:
Victoria Love Hudson McKinnon
Beth Chamberlin, I heard, tried to get Bev and Paul Rauch the Lifetime Achievement Awards at the Daytime Emmys this year.
They could have had her son Scott (a GH director) and his playwright wife accept.
It would have been lovely.
Instead, it's going to Monty Hall.
R30, I shuddered when you put the Divine Beverlee McKinsey and the wretched Darlene Conley in the same sentence.
It's sad that a son is losing his mother but Jeanne Cooper and Darlene Conley were two of the biggest eye-rolling ham hocks ever on daytime soaps. Thet epitomized what in LA soaps passed for "humor."
Beth Chamberlain is a darling for making the effort. I think a bunch of soap fans need to stage a protest outside the daytime emmys for their negligence. Granted they may all be over 50 gay guys but Bev is worth it.
What really needs to happen is for there to be a Soap Opera Hall of Fame, and a museum.
r39, you have crossed the line big time. Conley and Cooper were great personalities. McKinsey was a great personality AND a powerhouse. Why must one diminish the other?
Now now, girls. This is what gets these threads deleted. Just chill.
Did Jensen really get billed that way? Seriously?
Is she dead yet?
Another World was always
Trashy Mop Headed Bitch
the best soap opera credit of all time will always be
.................... AS LISA
I never got to see ATWT when she was THE bitch of all bitches, R48.
I started watching in the Marland years and Lisa was OK then, but was pretty much treated as a joke at the end.
r49, Eileen/Lisa had a great segment during the 50 years of Soaps gala - some hilarious lines in her clip (I believe ATWT was written by the Dobsons at the time of the clip shown) - enjoy:
BOBBIE SPENCER JONES, R.N.
Ummm... who is that woman? Jack--noooo. That isn't Jackie Zeman. Jackie Zeman? Are you sure? What the holy hell did she do to her face? Yikes! I guess is is:
[quote] Where'd the Jeanne Cooper thread go?
To wherever her first face went to....
