Uruguay Approves Marriage Equality in 71-21 Vote
Uruguay gave final approval to marriage equality tonight after its House voted 71-21 to pass the bill. President José Mujica says he intends to sign it.
Uruguay joins The Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Canada, South Africa, Norway, Sweden, Portugal, Iceland, Argentina, and Denmark as the 12th nation to offer its citizens nationwide marriage equality.
Brazil, Mexico, and the U.S. offer it in parts of the country.
In honor of this historic event the country will be known as Ur-a-gay for a fortnight.
Congrats to them! Too bad Brazil can't catch up to modern times.
I always wanted to go to Montevideo and Punta del Este. Perhaps even to live...no earthquakes, wildfires, or hurricanes, lots of beauty.

I spent a month in Montevideo and had a wonderful time. The architecture is very European. Great museums and music venues.

My ex hooked with a Uruguayan(sp?) after we broke up. I was surprised that someone from down there was living an open life like that. I imagine he's Catholic...
Congrats to Uruguay! It seems like such a beautiful country, with liberal views, and they have an amazing president too. I'd love to visit in the future.
