He really needs to step down too...he looks awful for his age. Sometimes I fear he will die on stage. You'd think he'd want to move to Montana full time and raise his son.
I love Dave, but the writing for his show has been godawful for years.
Leno & Lauer
That'll show them.
Seacrest. After Dark.
Does Seacrest know what to do after dark?
Conan blows. He has always sucked. Never ever could see the appeal in this unfunny jerk.
Some say Howard Stern wants it.
It's going to be Craig Ferguson. And he'll be great.
Has he been at the helm of his show as long as Johnny Carson was at the Tonight Show?
NO way!!! I love Letterman and I hope he keeps on doing this for at least another 10-15 years.
No one ever criticized the insufferable Regis Philbin, so why fuck with Letterman. No one can do what he does. If you've seen him with Shia LeBoeuf, Madonna, Joaquin Pheonix, Paris Hilton, etc. and how deft he is, watch him deal with the out of control Joan Rivers, etc. the guy is horribly underestimated. I think he's a genius.
Yes, he has. Johnny went from '62 to '92. Letterman started with a morning show in '82 and quickly got his late night NBC gig. He went to CBS in '92 when Carson retired (and he was pissed because he did't get Carson's spot, Leno did.)
So Letterman has been on the air for 30 years now, too.
I agree with R14. He's still the best and smartest interviewer on late night TV.
I know of not ONE person who confesses to watch "Conan", but his rabid aged fanbois seem to be everywhere and constantly insist he replace this person or that person.
Fucking Conan O'Brien has been around for decades. He's old, stale, tiresome and must resort to poorly executed gorilla style marketing on college campuses to make it appear as though he's got a 'hip', young audience.
I have nothing personal against the man but have never understood his appeal. Those who keep insisting he take over this show or that show, etc. need to get a clue. He's had his peak, just like Leno and Letterman, and no number of late 30s fanboys are going to be able to make him happen again.
Sorry R12, but Kathy is good as a guest. As she has shown us on her own show, a good talk show host... SHE IS NOT.
Letterman stays. He's got good years left in him.
Joan and Melissa Rivers
Colbert or Seth Meyers

David Letterman will stick around, just so he'll have the satisfaction of having survived Jay Leno.
Dave was a genius, but he's been phoning it in for at least 5 years now. It's time for someone fresher.
I'd love Amy Sedaris and Dave loves Amy Sedaris, but I doubt she'd ever do it (or do a show with such a traditional format)
I'm rooting for a big London Lee comeback!
We did this thread less than a month ago. Google is your friend.
Not everyone has no life like you, R27, and has the luxury of spending 24/7 here or remembering every fucking thread that's started here.
I wish Bernie Mac were still here. I'd have loved to see him in this format. He was really crossing over when he died.
I'm not ready for Letterman to go, maybe when he is 67? Why the hell would his kid want to be raised in Montana...sounds terrible to me. Montana is for vacation, not for real life.
Yeah, I'm still thinking Conan.
I wonder if a late-night show is something Ellen would consider. She's made a fortune with her daytime show, and it would be interesting to see if she could translate to an evening show.
(But I still think Ferguson's the heir apparent to Dave, and Dave will leave when Leno is gone for real).
"Oh my God. I'm back. I'm home. All the time, it was... We finally really did it ... You Maniacs! You blew it up! Ah, damn you! God damn you all to hell!"
We are switching to the new platform for The DataLounge this weekend. All of our mobile users have been using it for over a week and all first time users have been using it for about a month - which adds up to well over one million users. So we're ready to end this phase of the testing and move everybody to the new site. (more)
And yes, we've changed the look and some of how it operates.
Yes, we know you just *hate* it in well in advance.
Yes, we know we suck.
Yes, we are the biggest suckers that ever sucked.
But it was time for a change and with the huge shift to mobile it was long overdue. We've taken this opportunity not only to update the look but also make major changes under the hood (or "bonnet" if you're either British or pretentious or both). And we have to prepare for 2016 - a presidential election year where we can normally expect to see a 60% jump in traffic (yes, we've seen 5 presidential elections so far…Christ we're old).
The site has a bunch - nay, plethora - of new features which will make the site more usable: better search, the ability to ignore posters and threads, see link previews, to pick up a thread where you left off, spam and malware filtering and more.
If you want you can go explore and see for yourself, Click here.
And while running the tests we've noticed two interesting reactions to the new system - people are spending more time on the site and more people that come stay around longer and look at more stuff. Both good things. Yay!
Possibly we've not slain all the dragons and there will be issues that come up during the switchover. There's a help button in the lower right hand corner of the page which you can use to send us bug reports.
Please include as much information about the hardware (PC, Mac, Tablet, Phone etc), operating system (Windows, Mac OS, Android, iOS etc) and browser (Chrome, Safari, Opera, Internet Explorer etc) that you are using as possible to help us replicate and fix the problem.
Please note that complaints about colors, fonts, icons and the like are not "bugs" - they are design choices that we've made and we expect one or two cases of world-class bitching. But they won't actually cause headaches, scurvy, heart attacks, Restless Leg Syndrome, Morgellon's Disease or the vapors (but have your smelling salts at hand just in case).
Talking to DataLounge servers. Please wait a moment...
