Have you or a love one been kidnapped or been close to kidnapped?
Not me, but my mother was once almost kidnapped a group of strange men. She narrowly escaped.
I got in an unlicensed limo at JFK once and the guy inside it took us all manner of places we hadn't planned on going, even asking us to do porn. I was kinda glad when we emerged unscathed from the vehicle.
My college roommates were held at gunpoint by Mexican police who wanted their money. Does that count?
Attempted when I was in the backwoods on the way to visit family. Had a new Mercedes and he tried to push into the car when I was getting back into it after filling up at some trash gas station.

R3--He might have just wanted to rob, rape or kill you, if that's any comfort.
Yes. In Caracas. Fortunately, he was unharmed.
yeah it didn't work out so well for him.
I worked with a woman who was taken hostage by bank robbers back in the 30's. It was right out of Bonnie and Clyde--she was a young teller, and they drive around with her for a couple hours until they were a couple counties away from the bank. She said they were really nice to her, and gave her a $20 before they dropped her off and made her promise she would keep it.
The bullet marks where they chipped the bricks are still visible on the bank facade.
This involves my best friend and his younger sister from years ago. They were playing outside behind his parents flower shop where the employees park on a Saturday afternoon. One of the employees leaves to go home for the day and as she is driving down the alley, she looks back in her rearview mirror, and sees a car pull up to my friend and his sister and two strange men start to get out and approach them. She turns around and comes back down the alley with her horn honking and scares the two men away. Obviously nobody knows what the men were actually wanting, but my friend would have been 10 and his sister around 5 at the time.
A relative's son was kidnapped and murdered when I was a teenager. It was very traumatic, not only the death but dealing with the newspapers, tv, etc..
