What did you want to be when you were young? Did you achieve it?
I wanted to be a physician.
Reality: On my way.
I see a malpractice suit in your future, OP.
A boxer, an artist, and a scientist.
Did manage 2 of these...
Which two, R3? I wanted to be a horse breeder/trainer. I don't even ride very often anymore.
I wanted to be an indian and live off the land. Luckily I failed at reaching my goal.
As a very young child, I wanted to be a housewife (gay male). I've helped raise nephews & nieces and was a caregiver for both parents.
I also wanted to live a musical. None of you sight-read, hit a note on cue, or harmonize worth shit. Now we have ALW crap because that fucker dumbed everything down for you.
I only read about science. But boxing and a lifetime of work as an artist, I did get to do.
I wanted to have a family and circle of close friends. No.
I started college wanting to be an architect.. I then studied photography. Then Public Relatons.
I ended up in web design and last year I started showing my photos in a few local shows.

I never came close.
I wanted to be on Broadway. Achieved that. I wanted to be a regular on a TV show. Achieved that. Now I'm an unemployed has been but I achieved what I set out to do. Should I be depressed or content?
For as long as I can remember I never wanted to be anything at all.
I've been very successful at it.
I wanted to be a nun. Then my mother told me boys don't become nuns.
I wanted to be thin.
I wanted to be exactly what I am ... but now that I am finally here, I've realized it's not all it is cracked up to be.
I remember being 5 or 6 and wanting to be an architect. Never did become one, which is lucky for the general public, because I suck at math and physics. I became a policy person instead.
I wanted to become a tranny. On my way!
I wanted to become a journalist when I was young. Now, I am in computers.
But honestly, I would not last very long in journalism anyway. I would have been miserable if I were.
A Binge Drinker.
Reality: Actor > Actor/Director > Director > Writer/Director

There, there, Patti. It gets better.
I wanted to live over a store and have a simple 40 hour a week job that afforded me enough money for a simple but independent existence. In my free time I would devote myself to changing minds through written communication.
Of course that was back when such ambitions seemed achievable, even modest.
Reality: faking my way through corporate job, frequent DL poster
I wanted to be a great college basketball player.
Fantasy - I wanted to be an indie record label owner and discover awesome bands.

I wanted to be Miss America.
Well, I'm not living on the moon, so no, I did not achieve what was my dream at 6 years old.
Dream: Tony Award Winning Actor
I did not know what I wanted to do until I was in my late 20s. So I guess I never achieved my goals, because I did not have them at the time. Frankly, I don't think most kids know what they want. I don't think most young adults know what they want. In fact, those who do find out what they want in life in terms of a career, at any stage, are lucky.
I did find out what I wanted to do and I have done it. So I am lucky in that respect.
