Alex Pettyfer will play David and Gabriella Wilde will play Jade.
Who will play Tommy C's character?
And who will sing a cover of the title song? Adele? Beyonce? Lana Del Rey?
[quote]Who will play Tommy C's character?
How about Taylor Lautner? Just the one brief moment that Cruise had, in Daisy Dukes.
Alex Pettyfer = money in the bank!!!
Jesus H. Christ on a popsicle stick!!! Wasn't this movie awful enough in 1981? Awful. It was not even one of those movies that's so bad it's good. It just sucked!
And aren't they both 22 or 23? Aren't the characters supposed to be 17?
Someone named Shana Feste is directing.
I haven't seen the movie, but the novel is fantastic. Much darker than I had realized. (On the first page, the hero burns down the heroine's house.) It should be called Endless Obsession.
Poor, gorgeous Brooke couldn't act her way out of a wet paper bag. This movie ended her career for a while and she was quickly shuttled off to college to major in French Lit or something.
But the film looks great.
Who'd Pettyfer blow to get this job?
Seriously, he's box-office poison and aquired a bad rep in record time.
The novel is a 20th century classic with one of the best closing paragraphs EVER.
So what's this closing paragraph r8?
"I am standing on a long, black stage, with a circle of light on me, which is my love for you, enduring. I have escaped--or been expelled-- from eternity and am back in time. But I step out once more to sing this aria, this confession, this testament without end. My arms open wide, not to embrace you but to embrace the world, the mystery we are caught in. There is no orchestra, no audience; it is an empty theater in the middle of the night and all the clocks in the world are ticking. And now for this last time, I don't mind, or even ask if it is madness: I see your face, I see you, you; I see you in every seat."
why not keep the original song. They are both still alive to sing it.
Wow r8 r10, that 's pretty good, obsessive stuff.
Selena Gomez and the Biebs will duet the theme song
R8, that's not even close to a great last paragraph. Sorry.
Alex P. is gonna get his redwings!
The novel was respected, they had the director of Romeo and Juliet, a sexy, young couple.
What went wrong. I just remember it was very flat. The last shot of Brooke going to visit the boy in the asylum was nice.
I watched it again as I had not seen it since it was first released. First of all, Brooke was exquisite. And her acting wasn't nearly as bad as James Spader or Martin Hewitt. A remake could really play up the darkness and obsessiveness that was lacking in the original. It would make sense to have the lead characters older. In the original Jade is 15 and David is 17. That wouldn't fly nowadays.
The book was so good. The movie was so awful.
What next? Alex Prettyfer is pretty, but I was way less than impressed with him in MM, the only thing I've seen him in.
For a second there I thought you meant they were redoing "Making Love"! Now *that* I would see (particularly with Pettyfer as lead).
Miss Coco Peru will play Tom's role (the producers want to butch up the role so he won't be mistaken for gay again this time)
r17 - Yeah, there would be too much contro these days, even though in reality more 15 year olds are sexually active now than then.
Funny that Brooke actually was about 15 when this was filmed (even though the dude was in his 20s and looked it.)
I dunno about casting older: it's already a dopey enough concept; even sillier when it's 2 obviously grown adults acting it out.
Two adults don't have any reason to be in the house, really. The central premise only works if they HAVE to be there.
The sexually active 15 year olds today probably aren't fucking in front of their parents like they did in the movie. And these days you cant show underage nudity on film.
Pettyfer makes no sense whatsover. He was the least interesting thing in MAGIC MIKE, his only real hit. And the character in ENDLESS LOVE is a high school student.
Hollywood is run by idiots.
I'd rather have one of The Blue Lagoon. At least this one has room for improvement.
I shall be playing Jade, Pettyfer's high school girlfriend!
Finally, I've been waiting SO long for this remake. But now it's happening, and will spew forth into the world like a big, smelly, wet fart. Hallelujah!!!
I'd like to see Patrick Schwartzenegger in this movie, not Prettyfer.
In the book the characters of David and Jade are 16 and 17 years old, respectively.
The book is interesting, but not as good as it gets made out to be. It's always been touted as a "love story" but really it's about a young man who attributes his serious mental illness to just being in "endless love."
The book is narrated by David Axlerod, a disturbed teenage boy who, when told he has to stay away from his cum bucket girlfriend (they rut like crazed weasels, contantly and furiously) for 30 days, becomes so unhinged that he sets her house on fire in a crazy attempt to worm his way back into the bosom of her family and his girlfriend's bed. As one critic commented, what David says sound perfectly reasonable and plausible...unti you think about it. He knows he behaves bizarrely and irrationally but thinks he does it because he's he's crazy but because truly, wildly in love and why should he ever want to change? Why, everyone in the world would want to feel the same way! So he thinks his behavior is a GOOD thing.
It's really a dark, unsettling tale. And the sex scenes are more unpleasant than erotic. One of them features David eating out Jade's pussy while she's having a very heavy period. Another one has Jade wanting David to fuck her in the ass (David declines because he thinks it will hurt her). The sex is also rather ridiculous; David and Jade are super duper sex machines who can rut for hours. Jade never gets sore or dry; she's always "wet as a river." David is hard all the time; in one instance after he COMES he still stays hard!
The sex is so repetitive and ongoing that it gets boring very quickly. David and Jade should have gone into porno; they would have been perfect for that line of work.
The song was a hit TWICE.
When was the second time, R32?
I hated the movie but decided to read the book, due to the remake. Thus far, it's a strange fucking book.
I can see why R31 found it distasteful, on several levels. But I'll finish the book before making a final call.
[quote]the sex scenes are more unpleasant than erotic. One of them features David eating out Jade's pussy while she's having a very heavy period.
There were numerous references to her period, her tampon and its string, etc. even before he ate her out--getting a blood clot in his mouth. (I don't think Scott Spencer intended it to be erotic, unless he's quite kinky.)
I got the point. He was so in love, or obsessed, with her that he did what not not one straight guy in a thousand would do.
It wasn't hot and, oddly, wasn't gross to read. The scene was peculiar but strangely touching, given that it was written from his disturbed point of view.
I saw this movie as a child and it freaked me the hell out and scarred me for life.
R29, so would I. But only if he uses the name Patrick Shriver.
"Who will play Tommy C's character?"
I'll be playing myself. I still look young enough to portray a teenager, right?
R29 and R36
I know the Kennedy men (and in Maria's case, Kennedy women) have an attraction to Hollywood, going all the way back to old Joe and Gloria Swanson.
But I can't imagine Maria ever allowing her boy to go near "Hollywood trash " especially after Taylor Lautner.
So what happened to the remake? Has it been made? Is it still in production? A film version of this book would not be easy to pull off, unless the director and writer had the courage to do it right. They would have to make it a tale about a very sick young man, not a gooey teenage love story. Jade, in particular, is not romantic heroine. She a very ordinary, not particularly likeable young lady; there's nothing interesting or exceptional about her at all. Which is evidence of David's mental illness; the object of his obsession is nothing special at all. Her uniqueness and irresistible desireablity are all in his head; it has no basis in reality.
Martin Hewitt was a sexy little thing. I love his face when he shoots his load into Brooke.
He's 55 now and runs a home inspection business in California. Still looks great.
"in one instance after he COMES he still stays hard!"
Golly, weren't you ever a teenager?
Yes, I was...Gosh!!
There's only you in my life
The only thing that's bright
My first love,
You're every breath that I take
You're every step I make
I want to share
All my love with you
No one else will do...
And your eyes
Your eyes, your eyes
They tell me how much you care
Ooh yes, you will always be
My endless love
Two hearts that beat as one
Our lives have just begun
I'll hold you close in my arms
I can't resist your charms
I'll be a fool
You know I don't mind
Oh, you know I don't mind
You mean the world to me
I've found in you
My endless love
Boom, boom, boom, boom, booom
Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom
Oooh, and love
I'll be that fool
You know I don't mind
Oh you know-
I don't mind
You'll be the only one
'Cause NO one can deny
This love I have inside
And I'll give it all to you
My love, my love
My endless love
Love that song.
80's remakes "Endless Love" and "About Last Night" are hits.
