Watching " The Gene Krupa Story" on TCM. He was so sexy - like a mini Brando.( Think the real Krupa was a hot stud too, from an old pic I saw). Also remember him years later in "Teddy Bear" in a bathing suit , showing a big package. He was hot stuff.
I actually stopped on it for a few minutes. It's funny seeing your post, OP.
Why funny ???
Me to, r1, how queer.
He is the hottest star in Hollywood history.
I caught parts of it too, he was a hottie. Died young, 37.
I wonder how different the movie version of Fortune and Men's Eyes would be if he was involved.
I can't seeing it being any more explicit, it was way ahead of its time. Erotically charged gayness ahoy, makes Oz look like Sesame Street.
I had a crush on him.
OP read Michael Michaud's bio SAL MINEO. It's a great book. Michael had cooperation and collaboration from two of Sal's former lovers, the late actress Jill Haworth and Courtney Burr.
I thought it was funny because I just happened to catch the movie while scrolling through DL and saw your thread at the same time. Maybe, funny wasn't the right word.
Judging by his manner in Rebel I would've pegged as full on gay, but it turns out he was bi all the way.
RE 10 No , I believe even his last BF , Courtney, says he was try- sexual. All out, experimental, BUT he really was only into men, sexually. I'd say that's gay.
Yeah, he is sex-on-a-stick in that "Teddy Bear" film. Funny that today this thread started - the same day Elaine Stritch announced her retirement. She's in that film (1965) , and she was OLD then !
He was quite the teen idol back in the day. Even had a hit record--"Movin On." (Back then movie teen idols had hit records too--Tab Hunter, Tony Perkins, etc.)
I used to walk by the garage, under some apartments,on Holloway, where he was stabbed.
From the description in Shelly Winters' first autobiography I think it's the same block of apts. where she lived with Marilyn.
They were broke whores under contract to (?). It's the chapter where Dylan Thomas is chasing MM around the table in their apt.!
he had a guest appearance on the Patty Duke Show. Very hunky...
RE 14 - Yes, one and the same. I had a friend who lived there once, and had no idea it was behind his apt. where Mineo was stabbed. I told him that, and it creeped him out so much, he moved soon after. I still think of it when I drive down Hollyway, to S.M. Blvd.
In the 70s, Mineo was in New York a lot, and a very popular bottom at the Continental, St Marks and Everard baths.
