Are there boards where straight men talk to each other
...and not about sports.
Real conversations, questions about life...even gossip.
Is there a straight us?
[quote]Is there a straight us?
Straight me are so stupid.
"Is there a straight us?"
A board where straight men tear each other to shreds and call it wit? I don't think so.
No. The board would have to have a topic: sports, games, cars, wine, beer, food. No personal stuff, unless it's a joke how his wife or gf made him do something.
You mean a thread about gossip and politics marketed just for straight people?
Every board that isn't specifically gay themed is dominated by mainly straight people. They are after all the majority of people.
Most of them have some topic that brings them together unless you mean a more general board like reddit.
I don't get what the hell this question is even asking.
I'm straight and I'd much rather post with you guys. I've always enjoyed a certain level of extreme bitchiness, and you guys take it to a brand new level.
Not that I've found. Echoing r6, that's why I'm here.
Straight men tend to not gossip- at least not about acting and celebrities. Maybe about athletes and politicians and such.
Actually, I DO know a board of mostly straight men that has bitchery and wit that would stun even the hardened souls of Datalounge.
I'll see if I can post some of the classic threads--there are a few that had me laughing (and crying) so hard, I went hoarse.
Yea I'm sure there are OP. They are also probaby not infested with women like we are here. The gay man is always getting the short end of the stick. Always. It gets old.
I'm glad you like it! It's the only other board I check every day.
the gay view point is such a unique blend of energies;intriguing and insightful-It's hard to find it among my own
R17 has a short stick!
Straight guy again, My little brother is gay and turned me on to this place. I will randomly text him not to present his hole when he's going out. At Thanksgiving this year he told mom that the turkey was presenting it's hole. My favorite threads are when you talk about nostalgia or rag on celebrities. I also like the let's pretend threads and that Womens Festival thread. My GF reads but doesn't post. I think there are a lot more straight guys here, the you might realize.
Straight men don't talk. Straight men drink beer, fart, make skidmarks in their drawers, make homophobic jokes and fart (yes, I know I repeated myself)
If you repeat yourself, then you repeat yourself.
According to the last big poll we did roughly 2.5% of respondents identified as straight men so yeah, there are a few around.
So that's exactly 2 and half straight men
You would have a better chance of finding a Unicorn. Straight men are not wired to talk about their feelings. Ever. They will bitch and moan about their women but it's not the same thing.
We are not talking about our feelings either...we are talking about random shit.
r16 is exactly right. Reddit is the DL for straight guys who look like school shooters.
Straight men seem dirty...as in unhygenic.
Dirty is good
Yes, they talk about politics and do so at a higher level than the gays on this board. Straight men are able to discuss economics, political theory, geopolitical issues and not just repeat political bromides. Straight me are also funnier than gays typically.
There's the 'talk about anything' section @ the Britmovie website (@ link)
Personally, I don't bother with it. If I'm going to 'talk' to people online, I'll do it with homosexuals, thank you very much.
Real bisexual men don't hang out at JustUs Boys. Sorry to shatter the illusion.
I thing a lot of straight guys post on muscle/fitness boards.
[quote]Real bisexual men don't hang out at JustUs Boys. Sorry to shatter the illusion.
So says the resident DL bisexual expert.
Where would we be without you?
BTW, yes they do.
Of course, r32. Datalounge has taught me that straight men are better than everyone else in every way. They are to be revered and worshipped, while everyone else is to be mocked and derided.
The ones my husband goes to are about rock music and politics. He's not into sports.
[quote]Straight me[n] are also funnier than gays typically.
That hasn't been my experience at all.
They brag about their penis size just like here.
Straight men seem to be very boring in general. Besides women, it's like they only have one particular interest and that's pretty much all they talk about (sports, fitness, cars, etc), and they seem stick to forums focused on that particular thing. It's like they aren't interested in talking about a variety of things. They just seem so dull.
The Official Ted Nugent Fan Page.
The Tea-Bag Party Forum.
They are dull. Straight men that is.
The Straight Dope
message board has apparently been around forever. Some smart people there, seemingly mostly straight, but not racist or bigoted in the least. A few weirdos, though.
Here ya go, OP. A straight male MSB with any and all things up for discussion.
Warning : you'll find few liberals there but like most DLers, they hate fatties too.
And they have separate TV/Movies board, sports boards, and politics board
Thanks. R46...many examples of the great hetero humor there.
TOPIC: What do you believe happens when you die?
Ans # 1: you're reborn as a opossum or an armadillo.
Ans # 2: reincarnated as an eagle
#3: Immediately lose all bowl control
#4: You definitely crap yourself when you die.
Jokes about shitting are especially prevalent, it seems.
I posted the above especially for the person who said heteros are funnier than gays.
[quote]Jokes about shitting are especially prevalent, it seems.
But nothing about eating old people's excrement. How mundane!
R47 , you should find and read the Justin Timberlake thread. It's hilarious how much these straight guys admire him. It's almost homoerotic. They totally want to be him while he's banging some hot chick.
It's the polar opposite of the DL thread on JT .
You mean you all aren't straight? Cause if you're not I've been on the wrong boards.
In all seriousness, I am straight and I come here frequently for the bitchery.
This is the Bodybuilding.com Misc board. Some of it is sports but some of it is about fashion, celebrities, etc. they're mostly pretty young and so are extra bitchy. I find it fascinating.
[quote]you should find and read the Justin Timberlake thread. It's hilarious how much these straight guys admire him.
How the hell can I find it if there's no search engine on there? Can you post a link?
Is there a board where straight men talk about female celebrities? No I don't think so. So many gay men are obsessed with female celebrities. I'm gay, but I don't get the fascination.
Thanks, R46. Yes, it's fascinating, sort of. So different from DL. Like a whole 'nother country.
What I want to know is why you know your way so well around that forum.
"Straight men tend to not gossip- at least not about acting and celebrities. Maybe about athletes and politicians and such."
Agree with this. Straight guys do gossip, but they are not as enchanted with showbiz/acting/celebrities as straight women and gay men. They gossip a lot about athletes. Trust me, straight guys were all over the Manti Te'o scandal.
"Yes, they talk about politics and do so at a higher level than the gays on this board."
I've found the opposite to be true. Most of the gay people I've known are more politically aware than straights (both straight men AND straight women). You would be amazed at how many gays are working in politics in D.C. Even the most far right, homophobic politicians have gay staffers.
[quote] So many gay men are obsessed with female celebrities. I'm gay, but I don't get the fascination.
Strangely, I get that, to some degree, but I don't get the female singer thing, at all.
"This is the Bodybuilding.com Misc board. Some of it is sports but some of it is about fashion, celebrities, etc. they're mostly pretty young and so are extra bitchy. I find it fascinating."
Are all those guys straight, though? I know a ton of gay guys who ae into muscles and fitness.
"They brag about their penis size just like here."
Dick obsession is pretty common among gay AND straight men.
R56, I'm a sports fan and am also interested in local gossip that never makes the news. I came across the site a few years ago while Googling the name of an asshole local radio host who got the sack.
It's beyond disheartening to visit the political boards, though.
The NYT actually had a write-up on the message board a few months ago.
[quote]It's beyond disheartening to visit the political boards, though.
Why do you say that exactly?
Any links? or is it too disheartening to even browse.
"Straight:" boards are sorted by interests. Cars, Politics, hobbies, neighborhood organisations, etc.
But guess what, gay people visit those as well. So there you have it.
Sometimes I think all straight guys are gay and in denial given how much they seem to worship each other and hate women.
Many (obviously not all) straight men clearly don't really like women outside of being sex objects. If they could just bang them whenever they wanted and spend all their time hanging out with their bros they would.
You're in denial, r62.
Yes, R62. They're all secretly envisioning tonguing your hole when their wives make them go down on them. That's exactly what's happening.
We are a unique group; nothing like "us" exists in the real world.
*What if abortions were posted in the newspapers like DWI arrests?
*Study finds marriage shortens lesbians' life expectancy
*Elizabeth "Trail of Tears" Warren wants $22/hr minimum wage
*It's getting old, blaming Christians for GOP losses
etc., etc., etc.
R63, straight men brag about everything -- it's 99% bullshit.
[quote]Is there a straight us?
Oh honey, look around. There's not even a GAY us anymore.
This place turned into American Diabetic Online years ago. Nothing but canes and fibromyalgia pill bottle cozies with the random porn queen popping by for a look before diving back to the basement.
[quote]Sometimes I think all straight guys are gay and in denial given how much they seem to worship each other and hate women.
Except they don't fancy other guys and want to fuck the hell out of women.
My straight brother thinks this site is funny. He doesn't post though.
I'd never announce my pussy stinks on a straight board.
I have a straight friend who reads regularly, posts occasionally, and loves when people assume he's a lesbian based on what he posts.
YOU ALL ARE STRAIGHTER THAN YOU THINK
Sure you do R73
4Chan can have some surprisingly good conversations. And some shockingly disgusting ones. Just don't go there if you are thin-skinned. They all refer to each other as fags. New people are called newfags, etc. And yet there is an entire board dedicated to male nudity/gay porn and there are plenty of gay posters in the fashion and fitness boards.
I like DVDtalk's forums for entertainment and home theater talk. The politics board rarely degenerates into insanity.
There was something on the news last week about some board where men go to talk about killing their wives...I think some cop was on it and get arrested. (I was busy on DL and only half paying attention.)
"There was something on the news last week about some board where men go to talk about killing their wives...I think some cop was on it and get arrested. (I was busy on DL and only half paying attention.)"
Yes, it was some extreme fetish website Dark something and the NYC cop faces life in prison. The details of what these guys posting on the website's forum wanted to do to women was pretty gruesome.
There's a lot of freaks out there!
R51, I also visit the Misc once in a while. Some of the threads are quite entertaining (and borderline illegal) particularly the trolling and details of sexual exploitations. One of the best things is that threads pop up showing their shirtless bodies asking the others to rate them, which always elicit in bitchy responses.
The closest are the geek boards. (Star Trek, Star Wars, LOTR, Comics, etc.)
And like DL, most of the posting is done from mom's basement.
4chan. If you're man enough.
I remember straight boys in jr. high and high school, and their humor was very catty and cut-down. Often of a sexual nature. Then they have to "mature" or get frowns from potential girlfriends and society.
It's in there. Get them drunk and you'll see.
"Oh my God. I'm back. I'm home. All the time, it was... We finally really did it ... You Maniacs! You blew it up! Ah, damn you! God damn you all to hell!"
We are switching to the new platform for The DataLounge this weekend. All of our mobile users have been using it for over a week and all first time users have been using it for about a month - which adds up to well over one million users. So we're ready to end this phase of the testing and move everybody to the new site. (more)
And yes, we've changed the look and some of how it operates.
Yes, we know you just *hate* it in well in advance.
Yes, we know we suck.
Yes, we are the biggest suckers that ever sucked.
But it was time for a change and with the huge shift to mobile it was long overdue. We've taken this opportunity not only to update the look but also make major changes under the hood (or "bonnet" if you're either British or pretentious or both). And we have to prepare for 2016 - a presidential election year where we can normally expect to see a 60% jump in traffic (yes, we've seen 5 presidential elections so far…Christ we're old).
The site has a bunch - nay, plethora - of new features which will make the site more usable: better search, the ability to ignore posters and threads, see link previews, to pick up a thread where you left off, spam and malware filtering and more.
If you want you can go explore and see for yourself, Click here.
And while running the tests we've noticed two interesting reactions to the new system - people are spending more time on the site and more people that come stay around longer and look at more stuff. Both good things. Yay!
Possibly we've not slain all the dragons and there will be issues that come up during the switchover. There's a help button in the lower right hand corner of the page which you can use to send us bug reports.
Please include as much information about the hardware (PC, Mac, Tablet, Phone etc), operating system (Windows, Mac OS, Android, iOS etc) and browser (Chrome, Safari, Opera, Internet Explorer etc) that you are using as possible to help us replicate and fix the problem.
Please note that complaints about colors, fonts, icons and the like are not "bugs" - they are design choices that we've made and we expect one or two cases of world-class bitching. But they won't actually cause headaches, scurvy, heart attacks, Restless Leg Syndrome, Morgellon's Disease or the vapors (but have your smelling salts at hand just in case).
Talking to DataLounge servers. Please wait a moment...
