Just wondering. The guy wrecked the country. How did he manage to get elected since he wasn't particularly good at anything not at rhetoric not at anything. God, who were the morons who voted for him?
I don't even think Jeb Bush wants to run in 2016, but i bet there's an invisible hand that will force him. I think a lot of shit is wrapped up with that family and a lot of very very wealthy people depend on their machinations to gain the system.
Hence, Jeb Bush won't have a choice.
I know u asked about W but....thought this comment applies too
Lots of vote counting fraud and a really indefensible supreme court decision.
He pretended to be the moderate he was NOT, and the country was sick of Clinton and didn't want Al Gore, who came off badly.
Now you know.
There are a lot of morons in America.
Idiots! Gore DID win more votes than Bush. Bush won more ELECTORAL college votes.
It will be very sad if we get a Bush again. It will be the same old thing, everything for the rich and that will be the end of our country. You can not have a good country without a strong middleclass.
2000 was something of an accident; 2004 is primarily explained by 9/11.
That said, a lot of the blame also falls on the Democratic candidates.
R7 - there's a lot of Democratic bitterness about 2004 having been "stolen" in Ohio. Kerry blew it without that.
Ohio wasn't the only state stolen. There were at least half a dozen states stolen.
Get over it. 13 years Obama elected twice. Enjoy and move on.
The Bush name will be forever tarnished. There's no shining a t.u.r.d.
The demographics are against the repugs and they are self-destructing.
George HW Bush won because Americans were still stupified by Reagan, in part, and mainly because Dukakis was a disastrous nominee for the Democrats. No one actually wanted Bush. He got in by default.
George W Bush was not elected. He was awarded the presidency by four Republican Supreme Court justices in a bloodless coup.
It still is questionable that he won in 2004 as well, given the suspicious returns from Ohio especially. There is some question that Rove was attempting another vote-machine tamper this election, and that that was behind his screech fit election night, as Anonymous hackers prevented HIS hack to occur.
Now, the real question is what kind of dim bulb posts a thread such as this? A 12-year-old or a troll just trying to add to the thread count?
George W. Bush wasn't elected, OP. He stole the 2000 election.
Gore won the popular vote, and Jeb Bush rigged Florida. And then the Supreme Court did the rest.
Gore ran a shitty campaign, and allowed. bush to get close enough so that his brother and Katharine Harris could steal Florida for him. Holy Joe Lieberman was worse, and allowed Cheney to best him in the debates.
Plus Bush pretended to be a moderate.
I forgot that George didn't really win, either time. And fucking Rove thought he had bought Ohio last year but he was wrong...fucking son of a bitch.
Gore acted like a dofus and pretty much handed Bush the office.....with some help from Ralph Nader
No, he wasn't a "doofus" but the mainstream press led by Maureen Dowd at the NY Times insisted that that was the only story worthy of printing. Lazy hoodlums, all of them!
U.S. press didn't expose true history of the Bush family, going back to Prescott Bush's involvement with the Nazis. The articles were available in the UK press, but Americans didn't get to see them.
[quote]Idiots! Gore DID win more votes than Bush. Bush won more ELECTORAL college votes.
No, Gore actually won Florida too. Bush won in a 5-4 decision in the Supreme Court. Completely unconstitutional, completely indefensible legally.
And Gore was smeared by the press in a lot of ways.
I'll bet you think Al Gore claimed he invented the internet. He never said any such thing. He never claimed any such thing. What he DID actually say, was accurate. Nobody blinked an eye for three days, until Rush Limbaugh got on his show and rewrote history, and then started pushing his made up story until it was repeated so often everyone believed it.
It was the start of the 'Brietbart' school of journalism, ... making up slurs and lies out of half-truths, and repeating them until people believe stupid things like ACORN being an organization that steals elections (it did nothing wrong), or the "New Black Panthers" being a wave of voter intimidation by blacks to get people to vote for Obama and scare away McCain voters (it was two guys, who weren't even that intimidating).
This was repeated with the "Dean Scream"... something that was not an issue at all, but the result of a directional mic that filtered out all the crowd noise. Nobody who was ACTUALLY there saw anything wrong or had any issues. Only when the "doctored" recording was released a day or so later did he become a joke. Again, entirely manufactured by the media. The RIGHT WING media.
Seriously, would you guys rather have had President Odo?
What R14, R19, and R22 said -- times 1,000.
Both elections -- 2000 and 2004 -- were stolen by a despicable bunch of criminals, and that includes, in 2000, the five Rethugs on the Supreme Court.
2000- O'Connor, Kennedy, Scalia, Thomas, Rehnquist.
2001- Osama Bin Laden
Two things to consider. First, after 8 years of a democratic in the WH the public grows weary. Slight edge to republicans.
We have to remember that Gore won the popular vote. The electoral college is always the path to the WH.
R25: I was dumbfounded that Jon Stewart didn't ask O'Connor about Bush v. Gore when she was a guest on his show. Although I suppose I shouldn't be surprised; he's a terrible interviewer, especially when dealing with people in power.
Should we do away with he electoral?
How old are you OP?
Gore and Kerry were horrible candidates.
The fear factor, with the orchestrated "TERROR ALERT LEVEL" color codes was enough to scare the easily misguided and uninformed into voting for the Cheney/Bush ticket.
[quote]God, who were the morons who voted for him?
'Round here, we call them the Flyover States.
Pish, R33! The CIA, the Pentagon, Wall Street, and Israel put Bush in the White House. The "flyovers" merely ratified a choice that had been made for them by those with money and power.
R34 - who the hell put Obama in power?
The same players, R35. Notice that Obama kept Bush's Sec. of Defense.
When was the last time you saw an incoming president of one party retain the highest-level cabinet members of his predecessor from the other party?
It was a combination of a good marketing campaign where he was shown as a bit of a doofus who enjoys hanging out with regular guys and have a beer with them and voter fraud by Karl Rove.
"Oh my God. I'm back. I'm home. All the time, it was... We finally really did it ... You Maniacs! You blew it up! Ah, damn you! God damn you all to hell!"
We are switching to the new platform for The DataLounge this weekend. All of our mobile users have been using it for over a week and all first time users have been using it for about a month - which adds up to well over one million users. So we're ready to end this phase of the testing and move everybody to the new site. (more)
And yes, we've changed the look and some of how it operates.
Yes, we know you just *hate* it in well in advance.
Yes, we know we suck.
Yes, we are the biggest suckers that ever sucked.
But it was time for a change and with the huge shift to mobile it was long overdue. We've taken this opportunity not only to update the look but also make major changes under the hood (or "bonnet" if you're either British or pretentious or both). And we have to prepare for 2016 - a presidential election year where we can normally expect to see a 60% jump in traffic (yes, we've seen 5 presidential elections so far…Christ we're old).
The site has a bunch - nay, plethora - of new features which will make the site more usable: better search, the ability to ignore posters and threads, see link previews, to pick up a thread where you left off, spam and malware filtering and more.
If you want you can go explore and see for yourself, Click here.
And while running the tests we've noticed two interesting reactions to the new system - people are spending more time on the site and more people that come stay around longer and look at more stuff. Both good things. Yay!
Possibly we've not slain all the dragons and there will be issues that come up during the switchover. There's a help button in the lower right hand corner of the page which you can use to send us bug reports.
Please include as much information about the hardware (PC, Mac, Tablet, Phone etc), operating system (Windows, Mac OS, Android, iOS etc) and browser (Chrome, Safari, Opera, Internet Explorer etc) that you are using as possible to help us replicate and fix the problem.
Please note that complaints about colors, fonts, icons and the like are not "bugs" - they are design choices that we've made and we expect one or two cases of world-class bitching. But they won't actually cause headaches, scurvy, heart attacks, Restless Leg Syndrome, Morgellon's Disease or the vapors (but have your smelling salts at hand just in case).
Talking to DataLounge servers. Please wait a moment...
