Do you think cats are portrayed in a negative manner in popular culture

There are so many good movies on dogs (like saving Shiloh) and so few on cats and the movie roles cats do get are grotesque like the cat in the hat and cat vs. dog wherein cats play the bad guy. Why are cats portrayed in such a negative manner since I believe more people are cat owners than dog owners.
