Back in the day, when radio DJ's had much more freedom to play what they liked, a local DL would often play MPG's legendary "What's Going On" two or three times in a row.
Next year will be the 30th anniversary of Marvin's passing.

Me too.
As a teenager back then I loved his Motown hit "Ain't that peculiar?", and his early stuff like "Too busy thinking about my baby".
The Lets Get It On album has one of my favourite songs of all time: "Distant Lover". (it became a comfort in the 90s when my then partner died).
and I love that l-o-n-g version of "Gotta Give It Up"!
What a strange life he had, those years living in seclusion in Belgium etc, and then that final end at his father's hand.
Loved Marvin Gaye. A real Motown legend.
A tribute to him:
I like his 70's music the best, he had some great albums--I Want You (my favorite), What's Going On, Let's Get It On, Trouble Man, Here My Dear. The live (in Oakland) version of "Distant Lover" is still amazing.
Oh Mercy Mercy Me
I loved his version of the Star Spangled Banner in 1983 at the NBA playoffs.
I love inner city blues.

He and Tammy Tyrell were dynamite together. Her early death really hit Gaye hard.
