Are there still fluffers on porn shoots?
With Viagra and all I'm wondering if this job role still exists. It's not like it's something they can outsource to India.
- If you watch the behind the scenes stuff, it is a lot of straight porn and Viagra.
- I saw a documentary about a year ago on the making of gay porn, both regular and bareback. One of the segments was on Hot Desert Knights. They interviewed various performers and production people during a shoot. One of the performers was Will West. During his interview just before he went on camera he pulled out a hypodermic needle and stuck it into the base of his penis at the top where the shaft joins the body. It was some sort of solution that gave him an almost instant hard-on. He laughed when the interviewer asked him about it and said "oh it doesn't hurt at all". It gave me the shivers. But I guess you gotta do what you gotta do when you're in the fuck business.
- James Franco is working on a film script about this called "Fluffer!"
- Any good behind-the-scenes of fluffers at work?
- Nope, budgets are too limited nowadays to hire extra fluffers, especially in gonzo-type porns. Lots of porn videos, Viagra, and shots to the penis are used to keep the talent erect
- Since the porn industry is moving to Vegas, I see constant ads for fluffers on Craigslist, mixed in with legitimate acting and modelling gigs.

I'm sure the could find volunteers who'd do it for free. Actually, they could probably fund entire films by letting people bid for the job...
- They only used fluffers when porn was shot on film. After they moved to video in the 80s they were no longer needed. Anyone advertising for fluffers is fake.
- R3 do you mean this movie
http://www.fluffer.com/
- Didn't Robin Williams star in that?
- It's all a scam. if you see behind the scenes at porn shoots the stars fluff each other--they don't have someone else do it.
- R9, I was just about to google that.
- R11, as a volunteer and pro fluffer in the industry for 17 years, I can let everyone else here know you are uninformed. Of course the talent often continues contact and stimulation between takes or when getting started, but when you've got a pair or more of guys external help is usually needed.
Also, the naive assumption that video or now digital recording eliminated the need to maintain the upward trend is silly. Drugs don't always get or keep a guy hard - in fact, psychologically, if anything goes amiss during shooting the drugs can screw a man's mind up in terms of performance anxiety. It's especially a problem with older actors, or guys getting into a new area or sex act and freaking. And once an erection is lost under those circumstances it's very difficult to bring it back with some of these guys, such as the "amateurs."
The art of fluffing involves more than sucking. It's a psychological game of keeping an actor comfortable, physically interested, and involved in the action even when it's not happening. Some guys just aren't into each other. But a pro who knows how to talk, touch and support an actor still has a place in the better-end of the industry.
- Thanks, R13. Say more about what you have to say or do with difficult clients.
- So kinda like coercion and objectification.
- Cost cutting had made it a myth even by the '80s. You should read the late Bobby Spector's recollection of life in porn during that era. My favorite part was the actresses desperate to get into the shower to wash the semen off of themselves.
- R5 is spot-on.
R16, most guys simply ejaculate into their partner's mouth or they lick the cum off their bodies these days. Thank God, it is MUCH, MUCH hotter.

Unless, you know, your mouth is full.
- so what was the injection the porn guy was giving himself?
- Caverject or Tri-mix, R20. Old school ED meds that are really dangerous and not to be trifled with. When you hear those phrases like "for erections lasting longer than 4hours..." It's because the drugs induce blood flow which gets trapped, and can literally cause you to have your penis cut open and/or you may lose the ability to get a boner permanently.
This was the injection that Raging Stallion was recently in hot water over when they had a production assistant inject a model, and the PA stuck himself with the needle. The San Francisco Chronicle had a story on it in January, and the PA was or is suing over it, but I haven't seen anything it since.
Plainly stated, don't mess with these drugs. They're just not worth it.
- They also now provide troughs for all the pile-up of suicidal corpses.
It's a very efficient industry.

- R13 is a lying sack of shit. There aren't fluffers on porn sets now and haven't been since viagra and penis injections came on the scene. R14 is a retard for believing what R13 wrote.
R20 is correct. Something else to consider is that porn companies are getting their drugs in Mexico and what they are getting is expired or close to expiration date.
- What's interesting is reading gossip about who has the worst tasting sperm in the business(Valentino).
