A few years ago he was poised to become a 'star'- surefire oscar winner, etc- What happened? Is he difficult to work with?
He was NEVER groomed to be a leading man. He was and is a well-respected character actor.
He does great work
He showed dick. That's what happened.
Very talented actor, did some great movies like Moon, Confessions of a dangerous Mind, The winning Season but unfortunately he has chosen some underwhelming projects lately.
I love him, and have often wondered why his career never quite took off. I also think he's very sexy. I'd love to see him in more serious roles.
He's a good character actor who is good in small doses and is not capable of carrying a movie. After a spurt of movies that did try to place him as a leading man, he and Hollywood have wisely moved him back to smaller roles.
Loved him as the "red shirt" in Galaxy Quest.
He was just in The Way, Way Back and got good notices.
He's a character actor (a very good one), not a leading man.
I LOVE this guy. Hope he wins an Oscar someday.
Aisha Tyler, Margaret Cho And Sam Rockwell In High School Together
So overrated. He's the actor cunts refer to when they want to think they know about acting. If I have to hear one more fat fucking hipster talk about the movie moon
I dont know why r13 is so bitter. Jealous, maybe.
R1, I recall an article in a magazine, years ago, in which Sam Rockwell and Skeet Ulrich were being positioned as the next Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt. He really was supposed to be the next big thing, as OP states. Then I didn't hear about him very much at all (Skeet Ulrich, either), and finally he started playing these "character" parts you're talking about.
Not bitter. Just sick of average actors. The guy is a female Neve Cambell
He is definitely a leading man who can carry a movie, but nobody given him the chance to do it in a big movie.
He's quite short in stature, isn't he?
All i know is he has gotten naked in about 100 films. That scene in Lawn Dogs where he is totally naked on the bridge i jacked off to many times. Hot as hell and good actor.
Simple. He's not attractive.
So are Tom Cruise, Johnny Depp, Humfrey Bogard, RDJ, Ben Stiller and tons of others.
He's got a whiny little rat face that makes him look like he would complain if he's steak was over cooked or his kippah had some cum in it
He's hotter than hot, and I love the cute vintage clip of him and Margaret cho
"He's not attractive." Bullshit. He's adorable.
He is a serious actor, works consistently, is highly and deservedly respected and well-regarded in the industry.
He's playing the long game.
He's the male Toni Collette.
Could it be that there's a huge faction on DL that delights in both condemning stars who are overexposed (as if overexposure with all its invidiousness equals damnation) and delight in undermining actors who manage a successful career while avoiding overexposure (as if overexposure were the ultimate in success).
So many people here seem to talk out of both sides of their mouths continually.
And, worse than that, with absolutely no sense of irony.
Sam is a lot like Toni Collete. They're both fugly and that's the reason they'll never hit it big.
He is damn cute and charming, def a movie star face!
