How did Piaf regret nothing?

I regret everything. I even kind of regret that I'm posting this.

She was saying, "though I'm French and I did what I had to do to survive, I'm glad things turned out as they did." Which begs the statement, well, duh, yeah, bitch, of course you are - either way the war went, you would have survived.

• She didn't write the song, so it's not her POV. Two French guys wrote it in 1956 and brought it to her in 1960. She liked it and recorded it. Then she dedicated the song to the French Foreign Legion. which was at war with Algeria at the time.
