Bush's Painting Teacher, Bonnie Flood, Talks Making Art With Dubya... And More Arts News

Ever since we discovered former President George W. Bush's hidden painting talent, we've been dying to know where he learned to whip up self-portraits and dog renderings. Thankfully, the woman behind the creative transformation of Dubya has come forward to tell her tale of swapping brushes with the world's new favorite outsider artist. Bonnie Flood is an artist and painting instructor in Cumming, Georgia who, according to Fox News in Atlanta, spent one month teaching George the ups and downs of her craft. Flood is an occasional workshop teacher in Florida, which is how Mr. Bush came to hear of his eventual mentor, and she ventured all the way to Boca Grande to teach the former POTUS and his sister-in-law, Maggie, for up to six hours a day. So what does Flood have to say about her month in paradise with GWB? "He has such a passion for painting, it's amazing," the art instructor explained to Fox News. "He's going to go down in the history books as a great artist." She goes on to reveal that Bush has probably painted around 50 dog portraits and that he signs his masterpieces "43", according to Yahoo News. But don't worry, he didn't spend all his time on canine likenesses; Flood praised Bush for his ascension to landscape grandeur, as he eventually painted scenes from his Texas ranch. You can see a picture of Bonnie and Dubya together on her website here. Let us know what you think of the former president's work in the comments. Are they "laughable" and "eerie" or the work of a master?
