Dammit, I hate it when we lose an hour!
Fall back is the best!
I'm dreading both DST and it getting warmer out - the annoying kids are already outside starting up with the basketball and screaming and yelling.
I'm tired of getting up in the dark and leaving work at 5:00PM in the dark.
Hate this shit!
This was all for farming back in the day, right? So now it's all about saving energy? Who the fuck cares? Other countries aren't doing this, are they? It feels more like the US keeps this thing as tradition.
DST is worldwide, but George W Bush changed when the USA does it, so we are like six days off or something ridiculous.
He did it for his golf games. Extra time on the links, would benefit golf courses.
This morning, a local DJ called Information in Regina, pretending to be a Saskatchewaner and asking when he should put his clock forward "like the internet said".
After a brief moment on hold to consult his supervisor, the Customer Service Rep advised the DJ that he didn't need to change his clock "because Saskatchewan is in the middle of the country. Manitoba puts their clocks an hour forward, and Alberta goes back an hour."
And penises go into vaginas.
But it hasn't stop you homos from doing it wrong.
Saskatchewan is a loser state.
Back in the 30s Sask was actually the "third" province of Canada. It was richer and more populated than any other province except Ontario and Quebec, the REAL provinces.
But the commies unionized the farmers into communes. Meanwhile the farmers in Manitoba embraced the free market and the people of Alberta embraced an even freer market and switch to minerals.
Today Alberta is rich in oil and so is Sask but they don't exploit their oil, still living in communal farming and doing poorly, while neighboring Manitoba thrives.
Add to it, Saskatoon and Regina have two of the highest crime rates in Canada.
The place is socialized and fucked up beyond repair.
Such bullshit R24, and complete opposite the facts. Saskatchewan elected a conservative government in 1929, which was the cause of their rapid decline from being first in per capita income in 1927 (the height of the co-ops) to its present state.
I might add Canada in general suffered more in the Depression in the USA because its politics were too conservative.
The Cooperative Commonwealth Federation, a political party, didn't win control in Saskatchewan until 1944, a time of returning prosperity due to the war.
Sask is a rich state and full of socialist bull shitters. Saks is equal to Alberta, you can see the difference in the provinces.
It's like the Dominican Republic (Al) and Haiti (Sask)
Thank the Lord, Jesus Christ. Now if only it would skyrocket into the 70's like it did this time last year (I'm in the midwest).
I would gladly trade one hour of light for an hour of sleep.
Hate springing foward!
r22, that DJ is the reason "Information" was changed to "Directory Assistance." We were tired of answering questions on how long to cook a turkey, how to spell a word, and when does the time change.
I wish we'd just stay on DST year round, and stop transitioning back and forth. I *hate* standard time... it gets light too early, and dark too early.
[quote]I wish we'd just stay on DST year round,
The U.S. did that one year during the Nixon administration due to an energy crises. Other changes that year included telling people not to display Christmas lights in yards and hanging on the home. People who lit up for Christmas were considered un-American.
I woke up at the crack of noon today.
Stupid "spring forward"...
