The price of birdseed has quadrupled. It's very expensive now. The reason given is that there were miles and miles of fields growing millet, safflower, sunflower, nyjer seed, etc and the fields were bulldozed over for cities.
What the hell kind of a boondoggle is that? Did some sleazy realtor get billions in public funds to build ghost towns?
China, rapidly becoming the USA.
Or they could topple Fatty McButterpants next door and let a few North Koreans move in.
R5, North Koreans have tried to escape to China. They are usually treated very poorly.
These building projects are made to raise China's GDP. China sets goals and every official does his/ her part to make sure those goals are met or else face the consequences. Japan in the 70s and 80s did the same thing of articially bolstering GDP. Sides of mountains were covered in concrete. I also wonder if there might be a hoarding mentality behind these empty buildings. The prices to own or rent are so high that most can't afford them yet prices are not dropped to get people in them so they sit empty. Do they just want pretty things and don't want common Chinese people ruining it?
And yet that pothole on my street sits unfixed.
