I found this strangely mesmerizing...and tragic as well. Both women and men, some famous and others not. What a sordid and sad industry.

• I'm not saying doing porn is great, but one could easily have similar memorial videos showing colleagues in any industry dying horrible deaths from suicide, drugs and hiv. Go no further than the non-adult entertainment actor profession.

• True, R5, but I guess it resonates because the porn industry seems basically rather small and close-knit. Not to mention the fact that the vast majority of those shown appear to be pretty damn young.

• What changed? Many of the 70's porn stars are still with us. Harry Reems sells real Estate, Aunt Peg is a landlord etc. The industry seemed fun back then and most (not all) of those folks when onto other lives or like Ron Jeremy became icons of the industry... What is different now?

• r8, actually Juliet Anderson died in 2011. I don't believe, to your point, the causes were at all related to a life of sin (the point of the video), and she certainly wasn't particularly young. This video is illogical (in that at the end it's motive of being against the industry is made known); one could just as easily and nonsensically oppose the recording industry based on the number of young stars in it who died tragic deaths related to drugs, drinking and alleged fast living.

• Is the video safe for work?

• R11, I did not know she has passed. She was a pisser, I met her in SF several years ago. Smart, funny and still with that short blond hair.

• The video was posted by a Christian group, founded by a born-again ex-porn star, that helps sex workers leave the business. While the adult industry isn't a shiny, happy place, there's obviously an element of sex-negative religious shame at work here.

• Contrary to what the video says, Bambi Woods of [italic]Debbie Does Dallas[/italic] is alive and well.

• R15 that interview is a hoax. She claims her kids (in their 20's at the time)play with other kids from a dead porn actress. Not only hoax, but a bad hoax.

• I know it's not legal, but they should list their HIV status. Methinks many got the poz news and offed themselves. They're in a business that depends mainly on looks, and the future of an HIV+ sex worker must look very bleak. Liver disease = alcohol, hepatitis, drugs... Let's face facts: after a couple sex scenes, you basically have every std in the medical books. How many girls did Jon Dough sodomize while he was positive? The porn pimps use you up like a dirty condom, then toss you in the trash.

• I like [italic]Dave's Old Porn[/italic] on Showtime because he features classic porn stars (Georgina Spelvin, Seka, Vanessa Del Rio, etc.) who aren't all guilty and shit about their pasts.

• r17, many porn stars, especially gay ones, are hiv positive and continue to work and look exactly like they did before. The days when one can often easily tell status by appearance are not completely long gone, but much changed by the fact that the drugs often don't have the same impact on the face and body that they once did.
